***Official*** Broken Promises to the Trumpettes (2 Viewers)

He's going to "crush and destroy ISIS" and "defeat the ideology of radical Islamic terrorism."  That one is going to be interesting.

He's still apparently trying to pass the five year lobbying ban  for those in executive positions.  Of course, that didn't stop him from hiring a registered foreign lobbyist to be his National Security Advisor.  So, still kind of swampy.

How did we word the promise about libel laws?  That he would open up libel laws so we could sue the biased media and we were all going to make so much money?

I'm not sure we know enough yet to say that he's breaking his "drain the swamp" promise.
This was my first thought as well. Everyone jumped on the fact that he filled his positions with lobbyists, but I'm willing to accept at face value his claim that everyone's a lobbyist at the moment. I'm willing to let time pass to see if he can actually create some non-lobbyists and then transition to them.

Of course I'm also trying to bend over backwards to cut him slack on any issues that are value-based. I'm saving my rage capital for honest-to-hell anti-science policies which threaten to push back human progress by generations. You know they're coming.

A few others to watch:

  • ISIS defeated quickly and easily.
  • Eleven million undocumented immigrants rounded up by deportation force.
  • Outlaw abortion and punish women.
  • Guns everywhere.
  • Muslims prohibited from entering the U.S.
  • Threaten the media with loosened libel laws and lawsuits.
  • Cut taxes on corporations and the wealthy.
  • End all crime in the cities.
  • Disband NATO.
  • Cease all efforts to mitigate climate change.

  • Promised 42k jobs with the Keystone Pipeline
  • Promised to be complete energy independence
  • Promised to make the coal industry great again, and bring back jobs
  • Triple the number of ICE officers
  • Withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership
  • Renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement and "walk away" from it if the US does not get what it wants
  • Increase tariffs on Chinese imports to 45 percent
  • Allow the states to take back control of abortion laws. Says public funding of abortion providers is "an insult to people of conscience"
  • Punish doctors who carry out illegal abortion
  • Fix America's mental health system, which he says will prevent many mass shootings
  • Implement "reforms to add millions of new jobs"
  • Reduce the top tax bracket from 39.6 per cent to 33 per cent
  • Cut the corporate tax rate from 35 per cent to 15 per cent
  • Introduce "massive" tax cuts for working and middle-income Americans
  • Allow families to deduct the average cost of childcare from their taxes, including stay-at-home parents
  • Try and improve the relationship with Russia: "If Russia and the United States got on well and went after ISIS, that would be good"
  • Submit a new budget to rebuild America's "depleted military"
  • Make countries that benefit from America's defense force cover some of the cost
  • Initiate cyberwarfare to disrupt and disable ISIS propaganda and recruiting
  • Order an immediate review of all US cyber vulnerabilities
  • Renegotiate America's role in the UN global climate accord struck in Paris last year
  • Speak to North Korea to try and stop their nuclear program, which would be a major shift in US policy towards the isolated nation

You forgot number 9.

9. Make liberals cry

Man that alone is worth it. Please keep up tears guys. I come here for my daily collection of tears.

  • Promised to bring back waterboarding (torture)
  • Promised a nationwide stop and frisk policy
  • Promised to nominate a SCOTUS justice who would overturn RvW, SS marriage, and protect the 2nd amendment (BTW, he backtracked on SS marriage but not abortion)

I was promised that Hillary would be in jail.
People are starting to have epileptic fits over this!  Man I am starting to like Trump just a little.  People are so ####### pissed that Trump is not going to try and make Hillary walk the streets of New York why people yell SHAME at her.

If she was naked it would be a ghost town.

The biggest one for me so far is his attitude towards gay marriage "the courts have settled it...let's move on" (paraphrasing).  I'm pretty confident the nail in the coffin will be his SC appointee.  He's also softened his stance on abortion.  Both these issues aren't official "broken promises" yet, but I suspect they will be.  I was gonna try and do a thread like this, but just thinking about the monumental task exhausted me.

I agree.  Common core makes no sense.
Substantive discussion of Common Core is probably best saved for another thread.  I'll just say about 90% of the complaints I've seen in social media about "Common Core" have nothing to do with Common Core, and there's no way Trump is informed enough on Common Core to have an opinion on it worth listening to.

Yes, but more importantly, it isn't a federal law or policy or anything.  Trump's promise to get rid of it didn't have any connection with reality.

I like the idea of rebuilding our Infrastructure - admittedly I don't know how he plans to pay for it but I agree it's something that needs to be looked at and could provide jobs.
WaPo

First, Trump’s plan is not really an infrastructure plan. It’s a tax-cut plan for utility-industry and construction-sector investors, and a massive corporate welfare plan for contractors. The Trump plan doesn’t directly fund new roads, bridges, water systems or airports, as did Hillary Clinton’s 2016 infrastructure proposal. Instead, Trump’s plan provides tax breaks to private-sector investors who back profitable construction projects. These projects (such as electrical grid modernization or energy pipeline expansion) might already be planned or even underway. There’s no requirement that the tax breaks be used for incremental or otherwise expanded construction efforts; they could all go just to fatten the pockets of investors in previously planned projects.

Moreover, as others have noted, desperately needed infrastructure projects that are not attractive to private investors — municipal water-system overhauls, repairs of existing roads, replacement of bridges that do not charge tolls — get no help from Trump’s plan. And contractors? Well, they get a “10 percent pretax profit margin,” according to the plan. Combined with Trump’s sweeping business tax break, this would represent a stunning $85 billion after-tax profit for contractors — underwritten by the taxpayers.

Second, as a result of the above, Trump’s plan isn’t really a jobs plan, either. Because the plan subsidizes investors, not projects; because it funds tax breaks, not bridges; because there’s no requirement that the projects be otherwise unfunded, there is simply no guarantee that the plan will produce any net new hiring. Investors may simply shift capital from unsubsidized projects to subsidized ones and pocket the tax breaks on projects they would have funded anyway. Contractors have no obligation to hire new workers, or expand workers’ hours, to collect their $85 billion. To their credit, the plan’s authors don’t call it a jobs plan; ironically, it is Democrats looking to align with Trump who have given it that name. They should not fool themselves.

Did people who voted for Trump actually believe that he was going to try and prosecute Hillary Clinton?  Really?  Come on man.  No wonder Trump won.   Watching people on tv, and listening to the radio today when the news hit about Trump not wanting to prosecute Hillary was almost worth Clinton losing the election.

You poor SOB's that voted for Trump.  Let me know in 4 years if you got anything that was promised.

Nobody wants Common Core - we won't be common.  It will be great - the best!  You are going to love it, we will win so much and it will be great.  It'll be Great Core.

Also a 1T infrastructure plan.  Already sounding more like a public infrastructure giveaway to private companies.

Make America Russia Again!

Oh, also ISIS will be defeated by... I dunno...March?  End of 2017 at the latest.  Really hoping there's a Mission Accomplished banner.

:lmao: . Poor? , try getting richer daily. As far as promises, who the #### cares. The old bag didn't win and the stock market is flying. THAT is all that matters.

Trump isn't going to do anything except sign every piece of paper Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan put on his desk.

Agreed, don't see any way he does anything but rubber stamp. What's he going to do, veto? I think all 3 guys see eye-to-eye on privatization measures. Should be the entitlement attack Ryan's always wanted. Should be interesting seeing the Trumpkins who don't want "their Medicare" touched though. Should have thought of that.

The guy doesn't even want to live in the White House and is worried about not being able to use his cell phone. There is no chance he's going to sit in a room for 100s of hours trying to draft legislation.

Maybe to you, and I totally agree with this. But a lot of people were promised walls, no muslims, deportations, jail for Hillary, and a lot of other BS. These are people with no Wall St. investments, they just wanted their white back. Those are the people he's referring to, and they're going to get a whole bag of nothing because Trump himself doesn't care about those things either. He hoodwinked them for their votes on false promises of MAGA. It had nothing to do with them though, that's the catch. Oh, maybe he believes it will trickle down to them, but that's a pipe dream. Think the wealth gap is something now? Let's see 4 years from now.

Softened his stance on abortion you say?  But but but they are ripping babies out of the womb!   Abortion is my biggest pet peeve in politics.  The right has used this to sucker their constituency for 40 years.  They will control everything now for two years and they won't repeal Roe v. Wade.  They can't.  But they say they can about every two year and like rats to a feeder bar they lock in millions of votes with that one simple lie.

They don't want to touch abortion.  Because you know what they hate more than poor little babies being ripped from the wombs of their wanton whore mothers?  They hate losing single issue voters like my co worker who goes to church every day.  She doesn't give one #### about jobs, economy, tax code, regulations...nothing.  She votes only to save the babies.

:goodposting:

I am not fan a Trump or Clinton.  The bottom line is if Trump help the economy, jobs are created, stock market is good, not involved heavily on the ground somewhere, and the health care fiasco is somewhat fixed nobody will give a dam about  Roe vs Wade, what bathroom someone craps in, or any other things he said.

The even get in the position to run for any kind of high office, congress, senate, president you have to be a world class liar/actor first.

What about the children in Aleppo right now? They are born children who are alive. Any anti abortion person who claims to be pro life while completely disregarding situations such as those in Aleppo are the biggest ####### hypocritical shams ever.
