***Official Compass Bowl and FCS Championship Game thread*** (1 Viewer)

How far has Mike Patrick fallen? He used to do Duke/UNC ACC title games in hoops, and NFL Sunday night games.

Now he's calling the Bob's Truck Stop Bowl between two awful teams.

Oh I forgot to mention that the Potato Bowl spared no expense this year. They just left the Boise State Broncos logo at midfield and "Broncos" in the end zone. Classy.

Ford Field on the other hand, wasted no time in getting ready for the Pizza Bowl.

Memories of childhood ....

You're outside playing football in the snow. Mom calls you inside so you won't miss the start of the PIZZA BOWL.

Nothing like it.

Shocking news

UCF returned approximately 10,000 unsold tickets to the Fiesta Bowl, according to a program official.

The Knights have sold or committed to using approximately 7,500 of the program’s 17,500-ticket allotment for the Bowl Championship Series game against Baylor on Jan. 1. Baylor returned approximately 5,000 tickets, according a report in the Waco Tribune-Herald.

The returns are short of goals set by UCF officials, who said prior to the bowl announcement that the program would need to sell approximately 13,000 tickets to break even on the bowl trip. The Knights were given approximately $2.4 million from the American Athletic Conference for the bowl appearance, and were facing $3.4 million in expenses for tickets alone.

Fans faced issues almost immediately after bowl destinations were announced.

UCF had seen major pre-sale interest in the Orange and Sugar Bowls, with driveable destinations of Miami and New Orleans making both games attractive for the Florida-based core of fans. However, when Northern Illinois lost to Bowling Green in the MAC Championship Game, UCF suddenly was faced with a game across the country.

High ticket prices and even higher flight rates – prices sailed above $700 roundtrip – drove sale numbers down. A secondary market with tickets at half the price on StubHub.com also contributed to lower numbers. The Fiesta Bowl was the 10th most popular game on the site, according to a release.

Difficulty selling bowl ticket allotments is an issue that has been popping up around the country.

Ohio State has sold just 7,000 of its 17,500 allotment for the Orange Bowl, while Michigan sold about 5,600 of its 11,000-ticket allotment for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Ariz., according to a report in the Toledo Blade. LSU sold about 6,000 of its 12,000 tickets for the Outback Bowl, according to The Advocate.

Other bowls have not had the same issue. Both Stanford and Michigan State were expected to surpass their allotment for the Rose Bowl, while Rutgers sold out its allotment for the Pinstripe Bowl.

UCF (11-1) did boast the highest increase in attendance in the FBS this season, with a 22-percent jump over 2012.

Fans can still purchase tickets for the Fiesta Bowl through UCF and can still buy tickets through the school to donate to military personnel.
