I still ave no real idea WTF I'm doing. Pretty much doing public events and story, with the occasional raid mixed in, I've been able to level up to 20. Now, learning WTF 'light' is and understanding how to upgrade my weapons and armor.

I did buy the Thunderdevil shader which is cool as ####.

How are you able to do a raid at level 20??

I think he means Strike, not raid.

Sorry, yes, strike. The ones that open up at level 16. Like I said, no clue. I hopped on earlier and had some luck doing bounties and public events on Mars. Finally got a rare helmet.

I will be on tonight and Saturday evening for sure. I dont think I am leveled up enough for VoG. When you join a fireteam it automatically puts you in team chat with them so if you have a mic you should be able to talk. Its worked that way when Ryodan, Ender and I have teamed up the last couple of nights.

If you do the weekly on the hardest setting you get 9. The 4th golden chest on mars gives you 1, and engrams can randomly turn into strange coins.

I'd grind out the golden chests on mars (look them up) and find a group to take you through the weekly at the hardest level. After that you'll have 15 and only need 2 more from engrams.

A solid day of farming loot will get you that (Just do chest runs on mars or moon and you'll get enough engrams, or even ROC strikes)

What level are you? PS4 or Xbone?

You can do the weekly on harder modes too. You get 3 for regular mode, 6 for doing it the next level up, and 9 for the hardest (level 30). If you were on PS4 I'd take you through but I see your on PS3... Sorry man :( .

If you did it alone, do it again but this time on lvl 30 as you should get the extra Strange Coins (3 for easiest, 6 for middle, 9 for hardest)

I've managed to get up to lvl 25. Finally got to Vanguard rank 2 and bought my first legendary armor. Went with the Jackknife gauntlets. I'm still horrible at PvP. I finished the story and I have to say, it's pretty underwhelming. Just seems like there could be a lot more. But, I don't have the Dark Below expansion, so maybe it gets better there. May have to splurge, cause it seems like it's going to be a grind to get a whole lot further.

Got Abyss Defiant last night. I now have a primary of all three burn types (Atheon's Epilogue and Oversoul Edict being my other two). Really going to help with the nightfalls.

Big fan of the Abyss Defiant. It melts wizards. I'm also liking the Fang of Ir Yut. It is pretty similar to the Vision of Confluence but with 331 attack and arc burn.

Alright. I feel like I'm moving along pretty nicely. Should be one armor upgrade from level 30. Bought the DLC and am working through the Eris Bounties. Now, I need to focus in on weeklys and nightfalls. I'm absolutely a very average player. Horrible at PVP, but at least decent at PVE. But I find weekly heroic and Nightfalls to be basically impossible. Even with other randoms, they seem to be just out of my reach. Last night, I spent an hour trying to kill the Archon Priest before giving up. I do have a few legendary primaries and an exotic fusion rifle. I just can't seem to get over that hump. I watch videos of others on Youtube and damage seems to be much greater than when I try. It's just getting frustrating. Am I at a major disadvantage being 29 and not 30?

And, BTW, the whole concept of 'burns' is still foreign to me? When I see that a nightfall is a void burn, WTF does that mean? Do I need to carry weapons that cause void damage?

Yes, you want weapons with void damage. It goes both ways though, many of the enemies have void damage as well. I'm guessing you don't have Atheon's epilogue? Do you have void damage sniper rifle, heavy MG or rocket launcher?

I don't recall off the top of my head, but if Nightfalls are level 30 these days, then yes you are at a disadvantage. You'll do about ~25% less damage.

For Archon priest if you were with 2 other properly leveled guardians, it should not be an issue. For the final boss, stay by where you drop in to the final area and jump back up there as needed to heal. For this week's Nexus strike the key is to not drop down and snipe from above. You really need void damage and a good fireteam to do that though. A minotaur will spawn behind you periodically.

Yeah, the shotguns are pretty much garbage for high level PvE unfortunately. Bungie is buffing them, but I think they will be still be tough to use in Nightfall and weekly heroics where there is burn damage and lightswitch meaning mobs can one hit melee you. Fusion rifles are a bit better but their range still limits them. Yeah you need to start praying to RNGsus for some good purples. Have you looked at what the Vanguard vendor is selling? Or any of the factions? That is another way to go. Though I think you need crucible marks to buy faction weapons. Like you I do not enjoy PvP and only play it during Iron Banner.

I've been playing PvP like crazy, just trying to get better. I have an exotic weapon bounty where I need to score +25 in crucible to get an exotic shotgun. So, I have 60 crucible marks as of now. The highest Ive had my score for the bounty is +5. It pisses me off.

Another thought on VoG, often people on reddit fireteams are offering to sherpa inexperienced players through the Vault and enjoy doing it. Try to hook up that way and it can be a really good experience. If you posted on DestinyLFG.com and just indicated you are a first timer looking to run the raid, you could probably find a sherpa that way as well.

Fairly important. There are a lot of mechanics involved and teamwork is important. So everyone needs to be on the same page as far as what they are doing etc.

I bought this damn thing for my kids so they could play Skylanders. We found the Destiny/500 Gig bundle really cheap at Christmas. I've played Destiny virtually every night since the week after New Years. It's horrible.
