I really wish there was a trade-in program. I now have 3 shotguns. Invective, two to the morgue and the secret handshake. I hate shotguns.
This guy is an idiot.
:lmao: they are a lot of fun after the buff! Hi level raids maybe not so much, but otherwise they wreck face. Funny, I just got secret handshake from the NF last night, and I remember thinking I'd heard of it before from somewhere, now I know where

Invective just melts Vex in VOG. And it has regen ammo on it, so that's balls.

I have so many weapons to upgrade and not sure where to start. Not really sure which ones are worth it. I use the same weapons for everything.

Pocket Infinity

Thorn

Bad Juju

Monte Carlo

Hard Light

Invective

Vex Mythoclast

Hawkmoon

Last Word

Universal Remote

Red Death

Mida Multi-tool

Plan C

Patience and Time

Dragon's Breath

Those are just the exotics. The Legendary list is long too.

Anyone want to list the top 1-2 per class I should upgrade?

It depends what you play most often.

Thorn is a guaranteed kill in PVP with two hits.

Mida Multi-tool is awesome for the abyss in Crota.

Hard Light is probably the coolest looking gun while you're shooting it.

Universal Remote is awesome for PVP as you always have ammo for it.

Hawk Moon is also awesome for PVP.

To add to your dilemma, Ice Breaker is going on sale this week.

Thanks Kanil. I have a maxed Ice Breaker. I didn't list the ones I've upgraded.

I used to be mostly PvP but now am mainly PvE. Trying to get all 3 characters to 32.

I think I'll upgrade raid specific weapons and then things that regen ammo or health.

I'd prioritize them (Xbox one only, don't know the PS4 ones at all but I hear Hawkmoon is amazing):

Mida Multitool (beast in the abyss, as Kanil said)

Red Death (top tier gun now, best primary for Crota HM checkpoint)

Thorn (wrecks face in the Iron Banner)

The rest are all second tier or below, imo. Don't bother with the Dragon's Breath at all unless you are hurting for a launcher.

Edited to remove Ice Breaker

Also, I'd max Light of the Abyss and Hunger of Crota before any of the exotic fusion and rocket launchers (other than Gjallarhorn). Plan C and Pocket Infinity are great guns but I'd rather run the raid fusion and have the free exotic slot.

Oversoul Edict is pretty good too now. I don't have the Word or Fang yet so can't comment on those.

Don't forget Abyss Defiant. Think Suros with fire damage.

I've got 23 motes. Just trying to decide if I want the chest engram or a ton of heavy.

Explain something to me. How do the weapon upgrades work? Do they make exotic shards useless?

Go for the heavy.

FAR FAR FAR better value.

It's 950 glimmer for 1 synth.

You may get a chest piece that is for a class you don't have, or it might be a chest piece you already have. Not to mention Xur will probably sell a chest piece for 13 SC next week or the following you would like (or get it from a nightfall)

Heavy synth again...wish I had more space. And coins.
What does this stuff do? :bag:
I was soloing the Abyss on Hard mode yesterday and invited you at the very end to hope you could join in on some loot (hopefully the pulse rifle)...waited around for around 5 mins but unfortunately you logged off.

If you have the coins to spare, make sure you get a few heavy synths - he doesn't sell them every week. Like Manback said - much better value- basically it is valuing a strange coin at almost 50K glimmer!

Anyways, going to be expensive Xur for me - I don't own any of the equipment he's peddling today.

Alright, I bought 40 and I have 10 more SC just in case. Should be around this weekend. Fair warning, I'm getting sauced at least once this weekend. :excited:

Also, I made it to 31 on my hunter and I've started to do Crota a little more. I still havent found a group that could finish it from the start. Can you only do each part of the raid 1x per week?

You can do the raid as much as you like, but you only get rewards from each checkpoint once per week. How far have you made it in the raid? If you have the checkpoints done up to the final fight, then all you need to do is go to the LFG sites and look for a group that is starting at the Crota checkpoint - will save you a lot of time.

Also, try to get into a group that has a level 32 Swordbearer - they will do significantly more damage per hit compared to a 31 and below. A 32 can conceivably kill Crota in 2 swords, and should comfortably do it in 3.

I've kind of gone backwards. I was in a group that started at Crota the other night. Then, last night, started at the bridge but petered out at Crota. So, all I really need is the Pit.

Also, I havent found a single group that won't try to cheese the bridge by jumping up the cliffs on the far side then wiping. 30 minutes of morons jumping around and dying when they fall. Brutal.

Watched a 32 warlock solo Crota in 1 sword. It was amazing.

I tried using Oversoul this week's NF and I quickly switched back to the Fang. Once you get the Fang, Oversoul is still kinda trash IMO. Even with the buff I just haven't warmed up to the pulse rifles much. I probably don't use it right, but I haven't found any places in Crota where I'd rather run Red Death over other exotics. MIDA is awesome for the lamps, for the bridge I still use Fatebringer, for the next section VoC, Abyss Defiant or Fang seem to be better and it's nice to be able to use a Ballahorn (RNGsus finally looked upon me with favor last week) or Icebreaker

I guess hard mode if you aren't able to regen health from orbs? *shrug* That's just me, I get stuck in my ways on some guns and don't want to switch.

LOL, full disclosure, we cheese it, but with a warlock who can die and revive on the near side. Not trying those stupid cliff jumps. Honestly, I've never completed the bridge legit.... :bag:

Wow, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted just saying that out loud... ;)

I've never done it legit either. We've got a few warlocks we run with that we cheese the bridge with.

A lot of times we will get 3 accross then snipe from the back side. Does that count?

I've only ever done it getting 1 across that hides while the warlock dies/self revives.

If anybody is alive and shooting from the original side, it doesn't count as legit. But, imo, if the three guys that make it across do all the killing and the others wipe, I see that as legit because there are no exploits being used here. Not that I care at all. I've done it both ways....actually doesn't take any longer one way or another, but cheesing it reduces your margin of error (there are a LOT of bad players out there on the LFG sites).

So, I was under assumption that heavy synth cost motes instead of SC, hence my dilemma. So, I instead bought the hunter gauntlets, an exotic shard to finish my invective, and went ahead and got a chest armor engram.

Glad I did. Got the Heart of Praxic Fire.

Got the helm of saint 14 and instantly leveled it up (I had two titans full of bounties to turn in). It's awesome that I got it but it's a bummer that I don't have any other goals. Not sure I'm going to continue playing until the expansion comes out.

Yeah, I've gotten the gallahorn, thunderlord, HoPF and Saint 14 over the past couple weeks. Those were the last exotics I was looking for so besides leveling them, my desire to play is lower now with nothing to push for. It's pretty much weekly nightfall and heroic plus whatever raids I feel like doing when friends are on. Other than that I'm waiting for house of wolves.

Since I was a Christmas noob who only bought the expansion a few weeks ago, I've still got plenty of work to do. :coffee:

Hey, nothing wrong with that! enjoy it, it's a great game.

After finally getting the gjallahorn I see why Xur hasn't "randomly" sold it again after week whatever. That launcher has been built up as the be all, end all and is like a holy grail. I wonder how much they'd see player participation drop in the following week if Xur did sell it again....

Crota gave me a swordbreaker yesterday. I have a disgusting collection of shotties.
Its a great PvE shotgun...I really enjoy using mine especially against Minotaurs.

On the topic of shotguns,

Felwinter's Lie with Hammer Forged and Shot Package: The One Shotty to rule them all. It is the best, most OP'd gun in the crucible, by a mile.

I'm gonna throw out a plug for http://www.the100.io and specifically Alpha Company 835 ( https://www.the100.io/groups/608). I joined this group about a month ago and and it has greatly improved my overall Destiny experience. We're XB1 players and mostly all 31/32s. Very active group and many events to sign up for every day. In addition, we just ran a purge of inactive members, so we've got 17 open slots at the moment.

Good God, VOG has to be the most frustrating part of this game. Finding a group that has any idea WTF they are doing is pretty much impossible. I have no real desire to get a headset with a mic, but I may not have a choice if I want to get it done.

Running raids really does require communication, otherwise frustration ensues.

We generally wouldn't raid with those who didn't have a mic.

My 10 year old son got this game a month ago and plays it constantly. I don't think he's played any of his other games since getting Destiny. I had to get him a gold subscription so he can play with his friend. I don't let him use the headset with anyone but his buddy from school who I know - assume that is standard parental approach for a young kid, right? I have watched a few times but not played. I'm not a gamer, but had logged a dozen or so hours playing Halo Master Chief before he got Destiny. My off the cuff comparison is the two games are very similar, with the main differences being Halo seems more difficult to progress through the levels, Destiny is obviously more focused on investing time in your character, leveling up, collecting items, etc. I like the idea that online play can be focused on working as a team, rather than just competitive matches against other teams. I would say my son probably frustrates other online players because he will jump into any group he can find, but he really sucks. He's playing with a level 20 hunter, and pretty much always has the worst stats of all the players on his team. Last night he was trying to get some achievement that required he not die once the entire raid. As a result, he's hiding almost the entire time and finished with about 100 less kills than his two partners had. They were constantly attacking, while he hid and sniped the whole level.

I'm afraid "frustrates" probably understates the negative opinion other players hold for you son when he plays that way. There are piles upon piles of reddit threads pillorying players who join a raid and hide in order to get that stupid bounty. Though it sounds like he's not going full AFK, so he's got that going for him! It's partly on Bungie for creating bounty systems like that.
