8 wasn't QUITE as bad as some made it out to be, but it was a total shell of what was a great show.

Too bad.
As a diehard Dexter fan, I have to disagree. I was quite saddened when I learned it would be the last season, but looked forward to it. Now I understand that we have to suspend some sense of realism, but man it was

seriously off. And that final episode.... ugh, AWFUL. Won't give anything away, but it was ridiculous. Followed it from season 1, episode 1, but it went down in my book as one of the worst endings...EVER.

Frankly, until the hospital scene, I wasn't sure what the uproar was about. If they ended it around there I wouldn't have had serious complaints. What ensues is absurd. I would have been more upset if I hadn't been emotionally prepared for the wheels to fall off.

Random "Aha" moment: The woman who plays "Christine Hill", the reporter, was Ted Mosby's date on "The Naked Man" episode of HIMYM.

And Courtney Ford has gotten naked a lot on Dexter

Halfway through Season 5.

I was just starting to like LaGuerta again until she stabbed Debra in the back. But still do not like Quinn. Just does nothing for me and Deb can do better.

I like Lumen (Julia Stiles is awesome in the role) and her story, but I miss Rita

Never liked LaGuerta, but in a way I should. I also hated Quinn. Nothing character except as a token plot device.

I also liked the Lumen character. If they had just stopped after this season, this would have been an all-time great series. Instead, the last three seasons drag it down into meh territory.

While I agree the series went downhill after season 4 or so, we have to agree that if it had just stopped after season 5, it would have left waaaaay too many unanswered questions and left a lot of unhappy fans. They had to tidy things up. I think they just drug certain things out too long. Then they leave a very unsatisfying ending.

Lila probably had more sex appeal than Rita, largely because her character was portrayed that way, but I am admittedly a sucker for a great smile, and Rita had an absolutely gorgeous smile.

Not sure if it was brought up elsewhere, but how about Masuka as Tony Soprano's doctor in the Kevin Finnerty episodes

Finished Season 5, sorry to see Lumen go. But she probably would have cracked knowing what Dexter is doing

Don't care about LaGuerta/Angel

Don't care about Deb/Quinn. I am with Dexter, I don't like Quinn at all, brings nothing to the story

I would have loved to see Harry talk to Deb instead of Dexter at least once. That could have been an interesting dynamic.

About 5 episodes into Season 6.

Bad:

Doomsday Killers (Edward James Olmos has been wasted so far)

Brother Sam - I am just not buying his character

Dexter's Daddy time - Bored as hell with those clips

LaQuerta - Lame

Good:

Intern

And Angel and Quinn smoking the joint in the Trans-Am. :lmao:

Buckle up mojo, it's tough sledding from here on out.

Good news, and I apologize in advance if you didn't know (I assume you do), is that Ms. Strahovski is just around the corner. She's absolutely fantastic, and pretty much the only redeeming quality on the show once she arrives.

You think it's bad now? OOF.

Just wait until Deb "realizes" she's in love with Dexter. That's pretty much the exact moment they lost me.

Yeah, I could put up with many of the flaws (except the horrible narrating voice-over that started to make me want to shoot someone around Season 6), but that was when they just made it official that the writers didn't give a #### anymore.

That made the bad writing, while not excusable, at least tolerable. I loved her in Chuck as well, and I like the role she plays. Just kind of wish they had spent a bit more time on a better ending, so bad.

This whole Doomsday killer scenario is so bad. Gellar gets plastered all over the newspapers and then he is out walking through the outdoor shops? So stupid. Just a total waste of Olmos's talent.

But I am actually liking Quinn a little better this season. Has more emotion

I finally finished the whole thing and agree with pretty much everyone in the thread. 1-4 were awesome. 8 was horrible. I think things went downhill when the writers decided it wasn't such a big deal if other people knew what Dexter was doing. All of a sudden everyone he met he would tell them he was a serial killer. It was really weird. And with Rita it felt like he was always just biding his time, but with the later chickadees he seemed to actually care for them. Lame.

hmmm

For a guy who I didn't like his first two seasons, I am liking Season 6 Quinn. Drunk and out of control. Still can't get over Deb.

And in a show that doesn't have too many comedic spots (outside of Masuka), Quinn has giving us two in Season 6.

First him and Bautista smoking a joint in the Trans Am...

Then, him losing his gun and cell phone in the back seat of a Waffle House waitress...And his realization horror that they took pictures

Just finished season 6, ugh

I wish Deb would have arrested or even shot Dexter right there. Would have been a great ending

And watched the first couple of episodes of Season 7, and now Deb knows he is a serial killer. How come Bautista and Masuka have never suspected anything about Dexter?

Because Deb, Quinn, Doakes, Lundy, Louis the intern and now LaQuerta suspect something about him. Especially Masuka. Works right beside Dexter and never has suspected anything so far.

Maybe something happens in Season 7 and 8 that raise their suspicions.

Season 7 was better than Season 6

Great to see Doakes again and also Matthews.

And Issak was a great adversary for Dexter.

And I did enjoy seeing Ms. Strahovski as Hannah, but something seemed off. I can't put my finger on it.

Can Deb get any more messed up?

LaGuerta, Quinn, both Batistas (Angel and Jamie) and Masuka were no help this season. And Masuka didn't have any good wisecracks.

Starting the final Season this week

I can. Imagine if Russell Wilson got traded to the Raiders just before Week 13. Something would seem off, to say the least.

Dexter wasn't half the show Chuck was.

She went from being Sarah ####### Walker to a late game plot device on a show that didn't give a #### anymore.

She was cast into a love triangle between, you know, a brother and a sister. :lmao:

:goodposting: I was really trying not to compare Hannah to Sarah but it is so damn hard

Oh, I meant to ask now that you've gotten to it, what was it traumatic seeing Sarah Walker get nailed by someone not named Chuck?

I saw all 8 seasons of Dexter before seeing one episode of Chuck, so I can't know what it was like. But I'd think that could've been hard to watch if I'd seen Chuck first (you know, in a world where watching Yvonne naked could be "hard to watch").

Actually even now, of the million reasons I'd never re-watch S7, that would probably be at the top of the list.

Heck, I didn't like seeing her with Bryce Larkin or Shaw!

What a lame ### stupid ####### ending. Holy ####### christ on a cracker. Either ####### let Dexter die or have him go to ####### Argentina. Not that stupid ####### bull#### ending they had there that made no ####### sense...(I was channeling my inner Deb Morgan on that).

Which is too bad since Season 8 was not bad. Liked Dr. Vogel, Oliver Saxon was a good villain and I was sorry to see Zach go. he would have been a good replacement for Dexter
