Official Dez Bryant (1 Viewer)

Some people are just so eager to look the other way when it comes to sports stars. 4 years isn't that long ago, and I doubt that Dez has really learned any lesson, and or is a different person. He just has had very efficient crew at cleaning up his messes.
Would it matter to you if he did? Are you saying suspend him if he is still an idiot, but not suspend if he is an angel now??
No. Which is why he should be punished. Why are some people saying that because it was 4 years ago and past the statute of limitations to be criminally charged, he shouldn't be punished by the NFL?
Because the NFL didnt punish domestic abuse four years ago.

Its probably not past the statute of limitations. Lets say it is not, and the incidnt does not bring any legal ramifications. Then i say no suspension.

The nfl is becoming more and more of a sucky soap opera.

That, and since when has the nfl become the moral highground of the country punishing when the law doesnt even punish??

Tell those womens rights groups to take their pitchforks to the actual courts who can actually do somehing about this stuff.

Going after dez does nothing but suspend dez. It does absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. It only affects nfl players which make up a rather small portion of the population.

In all honesty, I lost any interest I had when I saw that the "incident" occured in 2011.
The NFL doesnt care if it happened 10 years ago if there is video of one of the NFL players doing something bad the NFL will act if not it would be another PR nightmare. You can lose interest but the NFL will not.
Really how bad of a PR nightmare would it be if they said "due to the time that has passed we are not suspending this player for this thing, unless further legal action comes of it".

Seems like a chance to make themselves look rational for once
Assuming this incident is Dez yanking a woman out of a car by her hair and tossing her around:

"Oh, you beat some woman in a parking lot back in 2011 and got away with it? That's cool Dez, no worries, it was in the past - and like we said - you got away with it back then"

Yea, looks really rational.

The thing you people who are clamoring for "that was in the past!" don't seem to give any compassion for is that, yes, in the past, some girl had to go through an utterly horrific moment that she'll remember for the rest of her life. She made a decision not to press charges or push the issue...? maybe because she has kids with the guy and figured the outcome would be better if she didn't come forward... maybe because she has no self-esteem... maybe because she is completely terrified of the guy had she moved forward with charges.

It's not funny, it's not cool, it's not how civilized nations treat their women. If you think this behavior is OK on any level I'm sorry to share this country with people like you.
I glad to share it with such a perfect person as you. You are awesome , Holier than thou and your sins are less than his so your a better person..... High Five!

Right. Maybe if the nfl punished for this stuff four years ago it never would have happened. The nfl should punish themselves.

But doesnt matter what they punished for back then. They make up the rules as they go.

Anyone who says the NFL shouldn't punish him for this "because it happened 4 years ago" is condoning this behavior. I'm sure you'll backpedal with something like, "It happened is the past is all I'm saying..." but no, you're saying that a guy who beats a woman shouldn't be punished. It's black and white with me.

If a video comes out showing Dez Bryant knocking a woman out in an elevator, but it's from 4 years ago, I want the same treatment that Ray Rice got.

Puished by the legal system sure. He should go to jail.

My concern as a Dez owner is little to none.

2011 incident = meh. I already knew Dez was violent toward women. He had his mother issue's.

No Chargers filed after almost 4 years and NFL cant do much here legally.

This is not a KO clear elevator video and this is not past his prime Rice. Peterson just got reinstated after child abuse.

I in no way condone his actions but the world is filled with worse and this isn't a reality game we play.
I don't like how you casually brush off domestic violence issues.

Sorry your upbringing was so pathetic, I feel really sorry for any significant other you may have and I feel even more sorry for your children, but hopefully you don't have any so evolution can make a better push forward without your taint in the gene pool.

IF a video comes out where he's abusing a woman he'll be suspended, doesn't really matter what any of us think.

How long the suspension would be who knows (anywhere from 1 game to a season), but Dez is good enough some team would definitely take a shot on him when he's reinstated.

Worst case scenario he misses a year and returns the following season.

I agree that it's not cool or funny--and is a very serious situation.

What if Dez isn't that person anymore? Where is the line? Obviously HS is out--but what about college? If this took place when Dez was 18 and at OSU, would the NFL be just in punishing him?

This is another thing I don't understand. I don't know what you do for a living, but if you work at my company (let's just say it's very white collar), we'll suspend you from the office the second the allegations come to light. If there's video evidence that shows you doing something inappropriate we'll lawyer up and fire you immediately.

Similarly, if you mow my lawn for a living and suddenly this springs up, I'm firing you and finding another lawnmower. If I patronize your business for my morning coffee, I'm headed to another coffee shop. If you employ a guy at your coffee shop who is accused for this - I'm also going to find another coffee shop. Sure, maybe someone deserves a second chance, but I'm not giving it to them.

I can come up with way worse for a worse case scenario. Who knows? Maybe Dez is seen on video pistol whipping and raping someone that is unconscious, the case gets reopened by the police, and he is arrested and held like Aaron Hernandez while awaiting trial. I'm guessing he'd miss more than a year.

This is what we call skeletons in the closet. It's the reason a lot of politicians lose their careers. If you did something that was so horrible that you hid it for 4, 10, 20 years and then the truth comes to light, you still deserve to be punished.

Now if you want to atone and claim you're not that person anymore, then you still deserve to be punished for what you did. The "not that person part" - good for you. Don't be that person ever again. That is it's own reward.

I assume you're saying that all people in the NFL beat women? Maybe it's a bit hypocritical of me, I'm sure that's a thought. I think the NFL is addressing the issue. I think it's great that Ray Rice is blackballed. I'll never forgive Philly or the Jets for employing Michael Vick ever again. I'll remind their fans of it anytime I get a chance - you're all good with dog killing, eh?

True, i'm assuming he isn't that psycho but who knows. He runs around on the sidelines ranting and raving while his teammates completely ignore him. He's got screws loose, just hope not to the point where he's a raving nut job.

So let's see Jerrah take decisive action. He absolutely has it in his power not to deal with Dez again. Why should he wait for the league to do something?

Get on the front of the train, Jerrah, instead of slinking around the platform, waiting for the all aboard call from Conductor Goodell.

I find Jerry Jones to be a horrible human being. I've felt this way ever since I saw him fighting to hold the trophy with Jimmy Johnson (who, by all accounts, is an #####, but at least not a horrible person). The stories I've heard since have done nothing but solidify my feelings about him.

I would never expect him to do the right thing.

So if u are a fan of the nfl, and the nfl employs vick, then you too must be ok with killing dogs.

just singleing out jets or eagles fans for that is hilarious.

Why are you watching the NFL then?
I assume you're saying that all people in the NFL beat women? You didn't say all people-you said if you employ a guy Maybe it's a bit hypocritical of me, I'm sure that's a thought. I think the NFL is addressing the issue.Maybe the coffee shop is addressing it-getting the guy into counseling. I think it's great that Ray Rice is blackballed. I'll never forgive Philly or the Jets for employing Michael Vick ever again. I'll remind their fans of it anytime I get a chance - you're all good with dog killing, eh?
It's not a 'bit' hypocritical, it's absolutely hypocritical.

So if u are a fan of the nfl, and the nfl employs vick, then you too must be ok with killing dogs.

just singleing out jets or eagles fans for that is hilarious.
The way I look at it is the NFL doesn't employ Vick, the Jets do. I understand revenue sharing and "duh shield" and all of that, but I don't think you'll see a organization like the Packers or Patriots employing guys like that anytime soon.

We get it. You are among the top ten all time people and it is a curse that causes you to have to share the world with all the horrible people...but....Let's try to get back to football now...thx
Me, Mother Teresa and eight others. Gandhi was a fraud and doesn't make the list.

I can come up with way worse for a worse case scenario. Who knows? Maybe Dez is seen on video pistol whipping and raping someone that is unconscious,
:lmao: jesus, dude -- was she 8 months pregnant?

pretty sure you won' see the pats signing vick -- that's the kind of crap player jets build their team around

Well now this thread has everything. Self-righteous hacks, Pats fans butt hurt because they rostered Aaron Hernandez or got caught filming someone and "news" sources that include TMZ, Terez Owens and some guy I can only assume to be Eric Bischoffs son.

If the video really is five times worse than the Ray Rice incident, what sort of crime or action fits the profile to fit that level of magnitude? Please post examples that reach that level of shock value.

I have no idea what the video will show if it ever comes out. I was only pointing out that the range of outcomes is pretty broad and could be serious. Like the deflategte situation. We don't really know what is fact and what is fiction. We don't know what we don't know.

I think he's a great guy and one of his best traits is his loyalty. While I'm sure you can dig up someone who actually knows him and does not like him I guarantee you the high majority of his friends, players and employees will tell you that his loyalty is outstanding.

Last time I saw Jerry was about 2 years ago when he hosted a fundraiser at the club in this stadium to support the high school his sons attended. He gave a speech and mentioned that he'll never have a family member attend that high school ever again(because it's in Arkansas) but he was forever thankful for the impact it had on his kids. He got emotional, started to tear up. Later that year he and John York, the 49'ers owner who attended the same high school, donated $10 million. To a high school he knows no one in his family will ever attend. Sure he's rich but this is one of many time's he has made a hefty donation.

Ed Werder used to write for the Dallas Morning News and for the most part had an adversarial relationship with Jerry. Yet Jerry did this when Ed's daughter was admitted to the hospital for cancer:

Ed was covering the Cowboys for The Dallas Morning News back then. That meant he spent a considerable amount of time jabbing Jerry Jones in the wake of his divorce from Jimmy Johnson. No doubt about it, Ed was “a Jimmy guy” and Jerry knew it.

One morning at Children’s, however, balloons and flowers arrived. The note said they were from Jerry Jones. And there was an accompanying message from the head nurse. An important friend of the hospital had given an order.

“Jerry Jones says, ‘Whatever Christie Werder wants, Christie Werder gets,’” the nurse informed.

In the end, Jones invited Christie to be his guest at Super Bowl XXX where the Cowboys were to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers in Phoenix. She would fly there on his private jet and live the life of royalty for a weekend.

Sure sounds a lot to me like a guy who never does the right thing.

I've had a chance to meet him a few times, our exchanges always brief and he has zero idea who I am. He may be a natural salesman who never stops selling but he's also always been polite and a gracious host even after his team just lost.

From what I know about him I think he's actually got a lot more character than to label someone he does not know as a terrible human being but don't let that stop you.

I envision the group of judges, like at a diving competition, raising their big white cards with scores on them after seeing the video.

5.0xRR 2.1xRR 1.9xRR 1.6xRR 0.2xRR 3.0xRR 1.2xRR

"Well Al, I can see that one of the judges is a Dez owner... and that first judge, isn't that... why yes, it's Terez Owens! How'd he get on the panel?!"

did he invite werder, too, or just his kid?

There's a lot of questionable characters in the NFL. But the Pats cut bait with Hernandez before any arrest was even made. They misread the "characters issues" and did the right thing the moment they realized it.

Don't know, don't know the relevance of the question, but Ed did not let her go anyway. I only know about this because when I used to follow Ed on twitter a few times he referenced how gracious Jerry was to his family in a time of need.

Pulls a woman out of the car by her hair, puts a gun in her face. 5x worse?

Michael Vick committed a heinous crime. Because of that he did a couple years in jail. He also cost himself millions of dollars due to his stupidity.

Andy Reid hired Michael Vick to play for the Eagles because he thought there was a chance that Vick could be a great QB for the Eagles. In addition, he also wanted to give a young man who had messed up a chance to redeem himself (something he could not do for his son who OD'ed). If Vick messed up in any way, he would have been cut immediately. He did not. He turned his life around. His biggest contribution to the Eagles was probably not on the field, but in the lockerroom. He took a volatile situation with a rookie head coach and a teammate who made racist statements (Cooper) and calmed everything down. This led to Cooper having the best year of his career.

We all mess up in some way. Some of us mess up criminally. Some of us mess up publicly. Some do both. I just hope that when you mess up and need someone to help you, forgive you, or stand in your corner, you have somebody there for you. Even if you appear unwilling to do the same for other people.

We all do, but CE doesn't
Fact.

What about the dogs Michael Vick either directly or indirectly strangled, electrocuted, and drowned? Do they get a second chance? Maybe they did get a second chance and just didn't want to attempt to rip that other dogs face off, which was across the pit from them, with people screaming at them from the sidelines - tough second chance they might have got there.

People that are willing to treat other living objects like that really don't deserve a second chance in my book. I don't know, maybe I just never saw the thrill in burning ants with a magnifying glass as a kid... I guess I'm just not a sociopath and I don't believe that behavior is ever really gone from a person. It's certainly not gone because you lost millions of dollars, spent a few years in jail, and came back to get a second chance by Andy Reid to make millions again.

Making a mistake? Sure, you deserve a second chance. If Dez Bryant beat up his girlfriend in a parking lot? That's one helluva a mistake. He deserves to be punished for it. What's the punishment? I have no idea, but the idea that because he got away with it 4 years ago so now it should go unpunished doesn't sit well for me.

You are fully entitled to not support a company that employs the type of people that do things you find abhorrent. Fine. No problem. But the NFL employs Michael Vick. You can try and spin it any way you want but the NFL employs him so why are you still supporting this company? You condemn others, linking their support of the NFL as tacit approval for dog killing etc, yet somehow you are above this because you don't support the 'team' he plays for. At least be consistent in your application of what you deem unacceptable.

Wow, seems like the Cowboys are leaking whatever they can to hurt his stock. Their a all kinds of negative articles out of nowhere.

Who cuts his checks - the NFL or the Philadelphia Eagles? Who gave him the contract - the NFL or the Philadelphia Eagles?

I'm absolutely consistent in my application of what I deem acceptable. I'll never buy a piece of Iggles or Jets merchandise.

If people want to make the argument that the NFL employs him, I disagree. A team choose to sign him, just like a team can choose to sign Ray Rice. So which team is going to look at their PR department and say, "Well, get ready..."? Because the NFL is in charge of the teams but the teams choose who they sign to represent them. It's not a hard concept, sorry so many of you have difficulty accepting it.
