I’m feeling a little demoralized to be honest. No matter how much I try, no matter how many videos I watch I’m just not figuring out how to throw with any real distance. It sucks to stand on the pad of a 365 foot hole and know a 2 is out of the question.
I'm also not going to hit the chains in 2 if I'm throwing 365 feet from the pad - unless I make an incredible long distance 2nd shot. But, I feel reasonably confident I'll make a 3 and that's fine! I can try for a 2 on shorter holes.
I'm concentrating on throwing it straight at the target which involves a controlled throw with rehearsed footsteps. I CAN throw further if I RUN and throw, but I give up control when I do that and I'm just trying to play under control.
At 50, I'm not going to suddenly get stronger and fling it like a 25 version of me. Footwork was a big breakthrough for me. I generally watch the female disc golfers on video because their footwork is easier for me to grasp and at this age, I'm not going to throw as far as the bros who make videos and just launch it.
