***OFFICIAL*** FBG All things BATTLEFIELD Thread (1 Viewer)

Steam forums are stating that 8 release plus 2 DLC then 1 more late March, all supposed to be original maps. :shrug:

 
First reviews are coming out.....

IGN (console versions)

apparently game informer gave the game a 95%, but i cant find it anywhere

The IGN review is ok, but they spend way too much time on the single player campaign. Most BF players don't care about SP. I'm not even sure I'll ever play it(unless my internet goes out for a few days)

been thinking about it.The problem is i am in the process of setting up some job interviews, so i may have to take a day or 2 off at some point in the next 2 weeks or so on very short notice. My boss would probably be fine with me taking Tuesday, but I'll probably just wait till after work. They're actually flipping the switch and sending all our work to the NY office on Thursday, so i have to get 2 or 3 things sewn up before that.Maybe the wait will be too excruciating and i'll take a half day. We'll see.

If you purchase from Direct2Drive, pre-load starts tomorrow at 1PM EST and the game will unlock at 1PM on Tuesday.My guess is that Steam will be the same.
 
Well I will not be taking any days off and I can guarantee I will not be available Tuesday night due to church responsibilities, so I will catch you all sometime Wednesday. :sadbanana:

 
if anybody didn't pre-order, it appears that Target broke the street date. Lots of people with copies on the various forums.

Plus the game has already been put on torrents for all systems

the super geeks on the steam forums are throwing a complete hissyfit. Its fairly hysterical.edit: although i may do the same if i get home tomorrow and have to wait two hours for a load and install.

I just got a text from Gamestop saying my game will be in tomorrow even though I canceled my pre order. I may end up with several copies of this game.

I got that text yesterday. I am considering running to target to get another, but not sure I am that big of a :popcorn: . Might just wait till it is down to $30 for my 2nd copy.
 
be careful with the Target copies. No telling how EA/Dice will react to people that use an early copy online.

I'd just wait till tomorrow.

They cannot do a thing really. Person sees the game at a store, buys it and plays it. Company's threaten to do stuff but there is no way though could legally do it.
 
you're probably right. Still dont see the point on going out to target (and the hassle of canceling my steam pre-order) just to play a day early.

I'll use tonight to get my place cleaned up and all my errands for the week done. Because starting tomorrow, i'm going to be pretty unproductive the rest of the week.

Hopefully we dont get a ton of server issues tomorrow. If i recall, Bf2 wasnt too bad on release day.

Servers were fine on release. I just hate that I have 2 systems to DL this to and can only be logged on to my Steam account one at a time, so this will be a PITA if it is not live soon. :bye:

Did you watch that youtube with the triples on the forums? Crazy.ETA I will just have to make due with my 28". My wife would kill me if I went 3 24's.

yeah. it really looks awesome. How do they make the video that shows the entire thing as one image? Mine's only a 22 unfortunately (plus i bought it over 2 years ago, so its only 1680 x 1050). At least it has 2MS response time.... :thumbup:

So are you preloading right now (or are you guessing it will take that long to move from 21 to 22%)? I don't even have the option to preload slowly right now.

Nope. No one is preloading right now.I just hope it starts tonight so I can get it started on this system then do it again at work.

Apparently Steam isn't releasing the game until 1pm or something like that. On the Steam store page, it says it will be available in appx 5 hours, which would put it right at 1pm. Lots of crying on the Steam forums.

I was hoping to start my download this morning so it'd be all set when I got home. Ah well, maybe I can get my wife to start the DL when she gets home from work. Either way, it should be ready to go this evening, barring long DL delays.

I got an email & text from GameStop about my canceled preorder there as well, btw...hope they aren't holding one for me.

 
yeah, thats garbage.

My guess is EA withheld the pre-load from Steam because they dont want them to have the same advantages of the EA store. EA doesn't want to tick off Steam because they have so many customers and Steam doesnt want to blame EA because they're the biggest publisher.

So basically, we'll never know whose fault it is and i wont get to play until like 8:30 tonight.

 
I am so tempted to submit a ticket and cancel. The only thing keeping me from doing so is that with Steam I will not need to ferry a CD back and forth from home and work. I also have no time to play today anyway, so no big deal, but I would like to jump on and see for a few. I am tempted to go get my 2nd copy though so I won't have to wait for the downloading.

 
the only reason i didnt cancel is because i really like the steam interface including the built in friends list and chat options.

But this will probably be the last game i pre-order from them.

This is the only time I've had trouble with Steam. It's because it isn't a Valve game. I guess that will be the deciding factor on where I pre order in the future.
 
OK, I have a good friend that lives a few streets over that is picking his up right now. His son has an appt at my office today as well so he is bringing his DVD so I can install from that and avoid the DL.

Speaking of which, anyone mind if he joins us in Vent? He has no clan to speak of and is a very good guy.

of course not (as long as my useless brother is allowed to play as well)
 
OK, do we need to think about who is gonna level what first? I know Corp would be medic. I would be great with leveling my medic first as well, though I could do engineer or assault first as well. I figure we might as well organize and such. Anyone have preferences?

I'll be keeping it pretty spread out.I wont be too concerned with Recon, as i have very little interest in the later sniper rifles.most of the guns i really want arent class specific, so no worries there.if other guys really want to play medic, i'll spend less time there and keep focused more on assault and engy. Gotta remember the vehicle unlocks as well. I think they're stackable (the gunner can have increased armor while the driver uses advanced optics) and then you get the benefit of both.

Absolutely, and thankfully we start with a little bit, that might at least keep us up with not being able to play later.
 
As soon as someone sees that BC2 is OK to DL via Steam, would they be so kind as to post it here? I will do the same.
