***OFFICIAL*** FBG All things BATTLEFIELD Thread (1 Viewer)

I was really enjoying Assault with a smattering of Engineer/Medic on the side. Fits my kamikaze style, I think. Never really got into Recon so far, except it is fun to grab a shotty and go blow up the objectives with C4. Mostly suicide runs though, but still fun.

I'll probably go Engineer and Medic first depending on the situation. I doubt I'll get as much play time as you guys (tomorrow being the exception) so it won't matter too much.

still a very good game. you get lower player limits than the PC version, but from what i gathered from the PS3 beta, its not that big of a concern.I found sniping very dificult on the console, but thats the case with every game for me.
 
My friend is installing now. . . :brush:

He says that there is online authentication that allows for installs on up to 10 machines. I assume that means only 1 can be online at a time though yes? That would be stupid if not.

 
5 mins till it is supposed to start the DL. I told my wife how to do it while I am at work, as well. :goodposting:

 
Any reviews out for this yet? I'm no doubt picking it up, but I always like to see the reviews regarding any subtle differences between PC & Console (specifically the 360). (PS, I'm in the office, otherwise I'd be looking for these reviews myself!).

i havent seen a PC-specific review. All the big sites are just reviewing the console portion.On the PC, you get larger game size, better controls, better graphics and a better squad system. Console gives you the ability to sit in front of a big TV and have a more standard experience (nobody's getting an advtange over you due to better hardware or things like that)I linked to the IGN review on the last page. There's a few others up, but none of them are all the extensive. Unfortunatly, the big sites seem to be focused on the single player, which is just lunacy to me. I played both the PS3 and PC demos. didnt play the 360, but i'd imagine its the same as a PS3. you cant go wrong either way.
 
oof. Thats what happens when you make 200,000 people wait till the exact same moment to download a game. Horrible.

 
I am gonna get as much as I can DL'd before my buddy gets here, then install and copy from his DVD, copy the directory and take it home to work its magic.

:banned:I go home for lunch so I took a little later lunch than normal today so I could start the download. I hope the servers don't crash. I'm not sure why I'm in such a hurry, I won't be able to play till around 10:00 EST.
 
My buddy is online playing right now. Bastage better not get so carried away that he forgets his son's appt. He is a pharm rep so he scheduled the day off as well. :goodposting:

Called home, no DL available at 1:30p for me. Ah well, sounds like it really isn't taking that long to DL, so by the time I can actually play tonight, should be ready.

 
Question for the PC guys, do you guys play anything else besides BF and L4D games? I'm going to have both for the xbox but was a big Delta Force 1/2 fan and still love Diablo 2. Also, how old of a computer that was towards the high end when it was released could play the newer games? Something like two years? In some ways I miss PC gaming but I guess it depends on the type of game and not having to keep up with new equipment that I have no clue what everything does.

There are a lot of other games played here, depending on the person. We still have some LOTRO players, but I gave that up a few months ago. Strategy games like Total War, other shooters like Borderlands, RPG's, etc.

i used to be really into RTS games such as the age of empire series. the problem is i dont have a ton of time to dedicate to them and the uber-players come up with build orders and strats that the casual guy cant match. So after the first 2 or 3 months after a game came out, i couldnt be competitive.I built my rig right when the 8800GT was released. So its over 2 years old. The vid card is good enough to the run BC2 on medium settings with 1680x1050 resolution with some extras like AA turned on. The rest of the rig was pretty high end for the time (SLI capable MB, 4 gigs of good RAM, 750 GB HD, quad core CPU) but nothing otherworldly (no raptor drives or dual cards or anything like that). Based on wha things cost now, it would not cost that much to build a rig that is more than capable of playing new releases.If you spring for a good processor when you build, you can keep up with new releases just by upgrading Vid card (and Power supply if you dont buy a good one off the bat) for like 3 years at least.

I have a friend with a Q6600, 4GB RAM, 750 GB HDD and dual 8800GTX's that wants to sell the rig for $500. I might just buy it for fun.

I'll be on at 7:30ish pacific if you want to get a group going. Barley was talking like he was going to pick it up. I also played quit ea bit with smash and two of his friends and we were rolling as a squad in the demo. Why did they have to move LOST from Wed to Tues. :wall:

I have probably one of the lowest rigs here, my last update was well over 2 years ago. I have a Core 2 duo with 4 gb ram and an 8800gt video card. It ran the beta great and also had no hiccups during L4D2.

I'll be getting it but probably not today. Just picked up MLB2K10. I have a bunch of games I'm trading in with Amazon that I'll be shipping today so I probably won't have BFBC2 until early next week. Unless I cave and just buy it now anyway. :toilet:

I believe in Utah those packets have to be shuttled from hub to hub by donkeys. That probably explains the slow download.

Well if it is like that us, just imagine how long it will take by carriage for Amish Boy. :shrug:ETA I only have super slow DSL at my office, as well. :( 160 is capped.

just started my download. Its not going very fast.

edit: actually....its not that bad. Just took a while to get fired up. at 4% now.

Could we get everyone to list their gamertags once they get into game so we can all send friend invites?

I am planning on TheEyeDoc and will advise if it is not there. Otherwise, plan on it.

i believe playing in the Beta locked up your gamer tag.So i should be TLEF316 without a problem.59% downloaded cruising along at 1.4 MB/S

should be done in another few minutes. apparently people are having all sorts of problems with unlocks and promotional codes. we'll see how i do

I threw over the new files, then did a validate and it is just changing a few apparently. Going fairly fast. Hope it can finish in 2 hours.
