got a bunch of rounds in. Not playing very well at all (combination of not knowing the maps, having awful guns and being on ####ty teams) but liking it. The maps are confusing, but its just so painfully obvious how much more time they put into them than IW put into the Mw2 maps.
Stats server is behind right now, so i dont know just how bad i'm doing.
The conquest games are very short. 15 kills is a VERY good game for me at this point. Most are well below that. wish they were a little longer.

So, you have to enter your promo key (you should be able to find it in Steam by rightclicking the game and selecting View Game Keys.)
Then the promo key you put in the game under multiplayer redeem code. (that line is from the forums.)
Also, if you are interested in messing with your FoV (field of view), you edit the fov=55 line in settings.ini in your documents folder. Here is a calculator that calculates the vertical fov (the number in the settings.ini) after you put in your resolution and desired horizontal FoV.

Lost connection, now it can't see EA Online. Bah.
edit: musta had to reboot the authentication server(s) (or had them crash). Back up.

OK, so i guess it wasn't just me. I was in an Apache running off kills and all of a sudden i'm gone. its worth the wait fellas. Hang tough on the steam download.

From what I read, somewhere around 90 is nice for the horizontal FoV, so that would put the setting you enter at 65. Some people think that is too much, but the default is set at 75. It does make enemies smaller as you "see" a wider angle, but for you sharpshooters, that won't matter. For me, I should likely go for a 40 fov to make the bodies bigger and easier to hit :(

I did that and got no unlocks. Problems with the codes or something, not sure. Nonetheless, check and let me know because I entered the promo code right off the bat and nuttin'.ETA it accepted my code as well. It just didn't do anything.

its strange. i got the thompson and the tracer dart gun right away. But i didnt get the .45 caliber pistol. had to get to level 3 to unlock it.
I dont think i got all 3 vehicle upgrades either.
this release is a bit of a cluster ####, but it will all be forgotten in a few days.

guys...its very much worth the wait.
Absolutely loving it so far. there's some growing pains with the starting weapons, but i really think we have a masterpiece here.
Only made it to rank 4, but i've got a couple of 5K point badges i'm gonna hit tomorrow, so i'll be able to jump a few levels.

I got a late start and am 1000 points from 4 as well. Maelstrom, Joe, Baron and I were ruling the maps for awhile, we were the top squad like 4 times in a row.Very cool game. Actually got to play some levels that (gasp) DIDN'T HAVE SNOW!!!

I'm watching a live stream of someone playing this game right now and i'm not impressed at all. The game is dominated by vehicles and doesn't look like much fun at all.

Live stream does not equal playing it yourself. If the vehicles are dominating, then the other team needs some engineers/recon to blow them up. The vehicles spawn infrequently enough that they don't seem overpowering unless your squad is just completely incompetent at destroying them. The only caveat would likely be a good heli pilot vs. a team without a heli pilot - that pilot can go nuts, but the helis are fairly fragile (took a couple out with the machine gun on the tank.)Bonus if you join us in vent, you get to hear Corp scream at the opposing tanks to stand still for him to blow up. Or was that the friendly tanks to repair? Probably both

is there a deathmatch mode available in this game? That is the gametype i like playing in FPS and maybe that would appeal to me.

There is a squad death match - basically 4 squads of 4 and your goal is to eliminate the other 3 squads. Also a rush mode (attacking side rushes to blow up objectives while other side defends) and the "standard" conquest / capture the flag.

squad death match and rush mode sound pretty cool. I tried to download the demo a couple of days ago and i wasn't able to.

The vehicles have a ncie balance to them. If you are a team being murdered by them or are wrecking the other side its usually because a squad with solid teamwork can work well and complement each other. When this happens and you aren't facing another organized bunch or are on the other side of it, it can get ugly. That's one of the great thiings about this game, you can't win by yourself no matter how good you are. The maps are huge, also they have a nice varying landscape from the ones I have played. Just got my medic paddles and ran around and revived five straight guys and finished it off by zapping a enemy in the face.

if you're a MW2 guy that wants to be rambo and take out a whole team by yourself, than this game might not be for youonce you get good, an individual player can make a big difference, but they'll never be the killing force that someone can be in Mw2 with the kill streaks. (at least not as a ground soldier) its just the way it is.The vehicles can all be taken down with team work. 2 engies can take down a tank in under 20 seconds working together. choppers are a little tougher, but still very killable (and it will become easier later once people unlock the stinger)theglorydays said:

And also, how about "the horn"? Anyone fortunate enough to play yesterday knows what I'm talking about. Not sure how they do it, but it doesn't sound like its coming out of my speakers. I had to turn them down several times because i thought it was a car alarm going off in my parking lot.

I'm in my basement and was what the hell is that noise..... 
If you set the sound setting to WAR TIME - OMG is it awesome - I had to turn it down to Sound system or whatever.I haven't played a shooting game since COD MW 1. It's been probably a good 2 years. I've played Halo a couple times and never played Battlefield BC. So this is a breath of fresh air. I played the original Battlefield way back and liked it.
I love being a sniper but I'm not great but it's slow building. I get most of my points spotting - LMAO
I usually play rush or conquer my best moment last night was I dropped my C4 around a flag and to my guys to go to the other one. I sat back and see the flag starting to get taken and set off the C4 - ended up with like 4 kills, vehicle explosion, the works.
It's awesome - will need to add some friends. I think I had a ton of FBG but I think I did a purge a while back.
I'm sure I will hate it when everyone else has 50 hours logged in and I have 10 but for now great game. I wish you could get big team communication because we had 8 people and we couldn't always sync.
What fools are 360 BF:BC2 guys?

That horn is friggen annoyingthe best moment for me last night.... took out 2 guys from 40 yard away with a grenade launcher as they tried to enter a building with several of my teammates upstairs
I can see sounding the horn for 5 - 10 seconds to let you know that you are down to 10 tickets but not keep sounding the horn til the round is over

Thanks, GB.I like the game but it's frustrating as hell for me right now having not played a BF game before.
