I didn't command much on Bf2/2142, but I think using the mouse/keyboard will still be better than the IPAD. However, I think the tablet will be way better than commanding on a console. Much more precise and zooming in/out will be more intuitive.Well in that case its a hugely cool thing. This is the kind of thing I would get a tablet for a well. You can play commander mode on your console or PC. The tablet is just another option (and IMO, a really cool one if it works. I could see myself picking up an IPAD just to command when I'm bored some place)It looks good and I will definitely buy it. The question will be on which console. The 360 or One.
The Commander mode looks really interesting but do you play the whole game from the tablet? For PC players that will probably be great but I wonder how it will translate for console players? I hope there will be servers where this feature will be disabled.
Some stuff might be disabled for the purpose of creating a good trailer. They want to show off the pretty graphics and smooth mechanics, not a blurred screen and shots going all over the place. They always have the player in God-Mode during these things so they don't die.May have been covered, but I didn't see suppression.
That has always been something I would love. If I would have 1 monitor for the game, 1 for map, 1 for another, it would be amazing.I didn't command much on Bf2/2142, but I think using the mouse/keyboard will still be better than the IPAD. The true value for the PC player is the ability to play from anywhere. Just a really cool idea. I just kinda worry about how well the tablet will be able to keep up.
One feature I wish they would put in is the ability to customize multiple monitor setups. I think it would be awesome if I could use my 2nd monitor just for the mini-map and the scoreboard.
I'm almost certainly in if this is 64 players on consoles. Also, EA guy insinuating console will be 64 players.![]()
BO2 was the best selling COD to date. BF3's numbers were incredibly underwhelming. I do think COD is getting stale and BF4 looks interesting, but I think it's a little early to start throwing dirt on COD.I also thought BF3 looked interesting and was so excited and the game at launch was a total wreck, especially on PS3.I honestly think this might be the year that CoD dies. It looks like such crap compared to Battlefield, and there are other new shooter IP's coming out.
Just my opinions from what I've seen so far. It will probably sell well again, but the difference is significant at this point.BO2 was the best selling COD to date. You gave me a real scare on this until you mentioned that it was hardcore only. I tend to reload after every kill if I can. This would have been a huge adjustment for me.-infantry ammo is tied to individual magazines rather than just one big ammo pool (like Bf2). So if you only fire 5 bullets from a 30 round mag and then choose to reload, you just gave away 25 bullets. I'll have to adjust to this, because I reload ALOT (EDIT: apparently this is in hardcore mode only)
I think I read it'll be 64 on the new systems, but still only 32 on current systems.I'm almost certainly in if this is 64 players on consoles. Also, EA guy insinuating console will be 64 players.![]()
It depends on whether I can afford a new PC right now. Well, actually I can't, but I'm gonna try to make it happen. BF3 barely runs on the one I have.So are all of the BF PC peeps getting BF4? I am up in the air, with as little as I game currently.
I am planning on it. Speaking of upgrades, I probably should upgrade my video card between now and then, still running with an ATI 4870.It depends on whether I can afford a new PC right now. Getting tired of DCUO?I'm ready to return!
I have a mumble channel we can use if we don't have a TS or Vent channel. Mumble is a good program, there's also an iPhone (and android) app that you can use to talk to the rest of us if you don't have a headset.
Anything you can carry over to a new system? What are your current specs? Any idea of budget at all?Mad Cow, I may need your help. I'm looking to buy or build a gaming PC on the cheap. I need it to be able to play Battlefield 4 at the least, but I would love if I could future proof it for at least 4-5 years too. My current PC has been good to me, but it appears that I won't be able to upgrade what I have. My budget is tight. Like, almost non-existent. I'd practically go console with it if Playstation or Xbox allowed mouse/keyboard play. But they don't, so I wanna stick to PC.
Any help you or anyone else can give is appreciated.

No, but am ready for a change. I have NCAA football coming up, BF4, The Last of Us, so some variety finally sneaking back in. I never played BL2 after buying it.Getting tired of DCUO?I'm ready to return!

Honestly, we could do OK just upping the video card. Let me look at what socket you have and see if we can get by with CPU and GPU, maybe add a HDD - that would be cheap. Here is what I have:Anything you can carry over to a new system? Phenom X4 9850 Quad-core processor (2.5 GHz)
6GB DDR2 memory
NVidia GeForce 9800 GT
1 TB HDD (Definitely need to replace this. I think it's going bad.)
Mid-size ATX Case
460W power supply
I doubt any of that will be carrying over to a new system.
I'm not really sure of the budget. My wife would prefer nothing, but she knows I'm gonna do something. She would probably prefer I buy something from Best Buy or somewhere where I can get a year or two to pay it off without accumulating interest. I'd probably have a higher budget doing that. But if I can buy what I need here and there between now and October, that might work too.
I'm gonna guess anywhere from $500 to $800 for a budget.
I gotta say I love the 670. Tons of bang for the buck, although the AMD 7870 has great value AND a 4 game pack right now.I'm still running the i5 from the same build you did almost 2 years ago Mad Cow, plus a 5850. I was thinking of just upgrading the video card to like a 770 but maybe I need to start over?
I have no problem upgrading the video card and CPU if that's all it's going to take. Or at least for a short-term solution. Like I said before, I'll also need to upgrade my HDD soon, so that's another $100 unless I go SSD. I'll likely also upgrade the RAM, but that won't cost too much extra for DDR2.OK, your CPU is AM2+, which means we are in business, my friend.
Let's say you upgrade the CPU to an AMD II X4 640, that will run about $80.
Then all we need is a great video card, keeping with the budget in mind, how about a GTX 660 for $215? Want to go less, you can roll with a GTX 650 Ti 2GB version for $170. You could be a great shape. Thoughts?
Yeah, we wait, but you are set up to just upgrade. You could even sell your old parts and get $80 or so to work with.I have no problem upgrading the video card and CPU if that's all it's going to take. Or at least for a short-term solution. I'll likely have to wait until we have an official announcement on system requirements. In the meantime, I have time to look at options.
That 7870 does sound like a pretty great deal with the 4-game pack (I have TR, but would probably play the other 3). Any recommendation on brand? I often end up with Sapphire, as they hover around the bottom of the price point and seem to be decent cards.I gotta say I love the 670. I'd probably keep the existing system if I buy another. My wife's computer is much older than mine. Barely runs the Facebook games she plays. So she uses mine. I'm getting her and the kids a cheap laptop for Christmas. I was thinking something like a $300-$400 Asus there, although I haven't discounted getting them a tablet instead.Yeah, we wait, but you are set up to just upgrade. How much exactly? So I made the "mistake" of typing "render.drawfps 1" in the console in BF3 today. I was getting in the neighborhood of 20FPS. Promptly adjusted all the graphics options down, but definitely looks like I need a new video card.
So, what's a good buy these days? Might keep waiting until just before the BF4 release as was the original plan, but if there is a really good deal between now and then, I'll definitely be considering it. Unfortunately, not a ton of discretionary cash floating around right now (had to buy a car not too long ago plus some other unexpected expenses)
Probably going to try and stay at or under $200 if possible. Been an AMD fan, but if it's time to switch, I'm not opposed to that. Generally I'm all about price vs. performance ratio though. At the moment, figuring my best bet is to wait until later this fall until just before BF4 hits, and I think I missed that deal with the card + 4 games giveaway earlier in this thread. How much exactly? So I made the "mistake" of typing "render.drawfps 1" in the console in BF3 today. Mainly the feel of the game. On console it felt like they went for the COD experience and put your guy on skates compared to the weighted feeling in the past. The atmosphere and levels of the game felt off and well below BC2. For me it just seemed like it was designed for the mainstream gamer, which to be fair is their goal if they want to compete with COD, but that is not what I love about the BF experience. Also on console the destruction is basically non existent and that is a major downer and removes so many gameplay options.October 29th.
It doesn't seem like there's a ton of changes to the core game play. Madshot, I know you're a console player, so you'll at least get the benefit of 64 player MP if you upgrade to a PS3 or xbox 1.
What exactly did you not like about Bf3?
