Just wanted to throw something out for my FBG BF2 GB's. I had a lot of problems with the NVidia drivers and BF2, but have found some modified drivers that are optimized here.

He has both ATI and NVidia, but I think the ATI drivers are pretty good.

Hope that helps any of you that have had anomalous reboots and freezes with BF2. It has completely solved my problems.

I dive prone and call for a medic. He proceeds to shoot me in the head and then revive me. I guess he's working on some medal. Things like that piss me off. people that do this should have their stats reset so they have to re-build their i-penis

Sorry I wasn't paying attention when you were on man -- I love that server, only problem is there seems to be ALOT of spawn camping there. (For those of you looking for a GREAT 64p Karkand server with seriously no lag, find the GYNSO server, I'm always on there). I've been on a roll ever since i got the G36E unlocked (thanks for the tip Mad Cow, man that gun is great). TLEF - you're going to love that new card... how much memory do you have by the way? I just upgraded to 3gig a couple weeks ago and my load times have been DRASTICALLY reduced.

just got kicked off. My freaking brother insists on keaping Ares open the entire time he is on the computer downstairs. every once in a while it screws up and boots me. Cant wait to get back to campus. had a couple of good rounds, but couldnt get in a squad because a couple of clans wouldnt take outsiders. Ill probably be playing tonight if everyone wants to hop on a serverand o yeah, 2 gigs of corsair value select memory. Ive noticed decreased loading time, which is nice. I wont be going to 3, since my MB has only 4 slots, meaning id have to spend a crap load of money to buy 1 GB sticks, essentially wasting my 512's i have in now

working on tuning settings. I bumped em up real high to start. all effects and AA on high. res on 1280X something. it looked amazing, but there was some bad studdering. I turned dynamic lighting down to medium and lowered the res a little. performance was a little better, but still a little studder. AA is the big thing you really want for BF2 to make it look better. You got the 6800 GS right? If so, I understand there is a hack out there to turn it into a 6800 GT, which might be worth your time.

I had the best score in a round just now (78) 31 kills, but becuase it was the first of 2 rounds of that map (oman) i dont get a medal? what the hell is that? Total garbage. I play so well, beat out all the tank whores and medics, and still dont get the medal. total crap

No, if you had the top score, the gold medal will eventually show. Also, it is possible that your commander, listed below, might have ousted you. They get 2X their score if they win. That is how most gold medal wannabes end up with the silver.

whoo hoo. my first one. I was worried that the commander might get it, but he only had 35 pts when the round ended. We won, so it doubled him to 70. A guy on the other team had 76 and was tankwhoring as time ran out. getting a gold star was one of my 3 main goals for the next month or so.1) gold star2) get back to 1-1 k/d ratio without resorting to tank whoring3)make gunnery seargent.getting closer to # 2, although i had a few sub-par days. Thats something i really want to do. Still ~217 kills away after my +40 today

First the G3, then the FX2000, then you should be able to do flashbangs, I am thinking. That is my next stop, assuming the new unlocks with the boosters and patch aren't better.

I know they are adding a bnuch of higher officer ranks (up through 4 star general i think) I would think they'd have to lower the req's or nobody would ever get them. I still cant believe that there are people out there that are 2nd Lt already. Get a life. The highest ranked guy on Bf2 tracker has over 1800 hours

I would love to see that. I would love to open the new patch and see 4 new unlocks waiting for me. It seems like the jump from 8000 points to the next level (20,000) is far too big, too. I could see them adding a rank in between 8000 and the next lower, and then squeezing another 1-2 in between 8000 and 20,000.

I think they will. Right now 2nd Lieutenant is at 200K, which less than 100 people have reached. At that progression rate General would be several million. I don't expect to see this game maintaining its popularity for the next 10 years Edit: I play a lot, not as much as I used to, but a couple of nights a week still. I'll see if I can frequent some of the more common servers amongst FBGs and bump into you guys.

Yeah they have to change the ranks. The gap between First Sgt and Master Gunnery Sgt is 30,000pts. I did read they were adding more officer ranks.

haha, my last weekday home before i head back to school. I blackhawk whored for 1 round today. I feel dirty. Didnt get a ton of kills though as my pilot kept letting the other gunner rack em up. just got a bronze in a round at karkand. Overall, i played really well this afternoon. Always in the top 6 or 7 on 32-40 person servers with minimal vehicle use. 219 more kills before i get back to 1-1 ratio. ~400 pts to gunnery sarge.

Hey guys. I have another system question. I've started to encounter massive problems with regular Battlefield 2. After playing for a bit, the game starts to lag heavily, the picture freezes and then lunges forward, freezes and then lunges forward. Then my system reboots. This has happened the last three times I've tried to play, each time after about five minutes in the game. I've run the spyware and virus scans, defrag, you name it. Oddly, now I have few problems with Special Forces, but regular Battlefield is still a problem. Thoughts? Should I uninstall and reload the game?

I haven't updated the drivers because I've had problems with that in the past with Far Cry. Not sure about the sound card, but it's factory, nothing special. I know this machine is not super fast, but it has been fine until just the other day. I haven't made any changes, so I'm stumped.

Agreed. I have not been on a lot lately, but want to get to the next rank in a week or so. I have had a couple of 90-100 point rounds lately, so that would help. The key there is maps with few people on them. A 16 person Karkand or Wake = Mad Cow

Well I vacuumed the heck out of the machine and it's working pretty good. I think you were right MC, overheating. I have two fans working, and they were both pretty dirty.On a side note, I played several games last night as the Commander, which I hadn't really done before. It's kind of fun, and I racked up the points. We didn't lose a match while I was calling the shots. I'll have to figure in at least one commander game each time I play so I can get to the next rank!

I wanted to be on last night, but felt like crap with the food poisoning that I had going on. My fortitude is back, but tonight is not looking too good.Yeah, commander can be a lot more fun. One tip which I learned, as well - if the enemy destroys your stuff and no one is repairing them, drop supplies on them and they will repair just like vehicles.
