Next week on Fear the Walking Dead:

The Red Woman sacrifices Stannis's son Nicky to the Lord of Light in a desperate attempt to turn the tide back against the invasion of whitebrown walkers who have overrun President Trump's newly built Mexican border wall.

Funny, both my wife and I watched last night and we both thought right away he was Johnny Depp Jr.

ETA: I liked the episode and will keep watching. All of you fricken' nerds dissecting this thing to death :lmao:

watched it again last night- I think a lot was going down behind the scenes- If you listen, every time they were outside you heard constant helicopters and sirens- maybe they were just so focused on the druggie to notice? authorities/ health officials (they knew something bad was happening in the hospital when the old man coded) trying to keep things under wrap to not cause panic?

 
Fake Johnny Depp's sister on the show is kinda hot, and she's from Australia so she has that sweet Aussie accent. :wub:

Kept hoping fake Obama (principal) would turn into a zombie. How much fun would that be?

Premiere set the record for most watched cable debut. :loco:

I imagine they are going with the government cover-up angle. The cover-up to stem the panic.

 
at risk of being an ubernerd, one thing I noticed was they went out of their way to show that one of Cals parents was in a wheel-chair. The van he was cleaning up had wheel-chair access, there was a handicap tag hanging from the mirror, and there was a wheel-chair on the driveway. That's a lot of details to include in a scene that will ultimately be irrelevant.

Somehow Cal with a wheelchair van will be important.

I'm going a and b. Both things I participate in on at least a weekly basis. The stuff they make you drink for a colonoscopy is nasty, but better safe than sorry I always say.

Except there would be no way to cover something like this up. We're talking about an outbreak in 5-6 states. You'd have to have the whole emergency room staff as well as the ICU units brought into it. No way you could cover that kind of ground and hope to keep it under wraps.

Unless of course President Trump issued some form of executive order.

I noticed that as well. I don't know LA, but in NYC sirens and helicopters and all of those kinds of things are very normal. I figured LA would be similar- but they definitely made a point of including the sounds.

Noticed that too- but in retrospect, I think it's meant to show the Cal guy as outwardly a good, dutiful kid- which makes his drug-dealing secret life more striking. I seriuosly doubt they go back to his house and use the van.

I stumbled across From Dust Till Dawn series last night and watched the first two episodes. That show doesn't get enough love.

there's tons of sirens in LA, and seemingly endless supply of helicopters, more than any city i've ever been in.

great in Zero Dark Thirty. In fact the scene with him and the CIA head is probably one of my favorite "acting" scenes of all time

That's what I thought. Look at this sweet boy looking after his disabled parents instead of being out on the streets causing trouble.

I feel like we're treading in dangerous waters with this one though.. best not to read too much in to it.

 
What I'm looking forward is watching these characters change once they are in survival mode. The transformation of these 'soft' LA characters will be more fun to watch than small town Georgia cops.

Really hope this was a sarcastic complaint based on the others in this and the other thread that were just plain wrong. It was definitely a pre-pay burner. I am 99% sure that he opened the package up while walking. He took money (or credit cards) out of the guys wallet and through the wallet away.

I don't think there is any cover up at all. I think the point of this show is to show the "start" of it all. Even the 5-6 state thing is likely cop shoot out type stuff with or without videos. It will go downhill very quickly, but I think we are seeing both the virus* spreading so that when people have gotten it (like Cal from mini-Depp or Gloria from OD, not sure if she got or gave it to mini-Depp) and then died they turned and when people got bit they died and turned (guy in church from Gloria, the little kid looked like he got eaten). There will be no cover up because the outbreak is happening and there is no way now to control it.

* According to CDC guy, we don't know what it is.

Could be true. And pardon my potential ignorance, I skimmed past a lot of the "Johnny Depp" schtick posts... so not sure if this has been mentioned, but didn't it appear as if the drug dealer was "scrubbing" that van down pretty conspicuously? Like getting rid of blood or something?

That was my initial impression.

 
I liked it. I like the slow start, learning more about the people, and how #### is hitting the fan gradually. I like the potential government/civil cover-up angle. I thought the acting was good in general, Cliff Curtis is cool, and besides his walking like a shackled prisoner on death row, I actually liked the performance of the druggie kid. overall, I thought it was good, and I'm in.

on the other hand, this thread awful.

Didn't really think about it because of all the Depp talk (he is a dead ringer for him in those pictures), but you guys are right he did a pretty solid job. I never once questioned that he was a drug addicted kid who thought he might actually be going insane. Overall, he played his part really well. I can't say that I've seen the "Lori" yet and I am really hoping we don't.

This thread is pretty bad though, sort of like the recent Lost thread in the final season. Less about the show, more about the complaining. Usually, it takes a couple seasons, unless it is a ridiculous show like Under the Dome.

Seriously? I think season 1 is on Netflix. El Ray is carried by comcast, direct tv, dish and sling tv in my area.

DON'T LOOK NOW: Season 2 starts tonight! I'd start a thread on it, but, I'm still in the middle of season 1.

Yup seriously. I have 2 kids under 5, which means 90% of TV consists of Nick Jr. and Disney Jr. The remaining 10% is crap I'm used to recording with the wife... Survivor, stuff like that. Honestly, first I heard of the show (and network) was from an ad in Words With Friends :lol:

If it's on Netflix, this is good... I am a pro at binge watching at work. :ph34r:
