We see one character cross over to that place where the outbreak eventually changed their life for the better: Chris. I think he's the first of the show? Well deserved, he's making the most of what acting talent he has.

 
:sleep: for most of this episode. But the ending was good with arena full of walkers and the old vietnam/Iraq/mexican drug wars(?) interrogator standing on the steps.

But his slow talking deadpan stories are getting old. Trying to be like Quint from Jaws.. "So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb." Torturing the nat'l guard kid seemed silly.. Talking about his nerve endings deep in the arm. Was waiting for him to start singing Farewll and adieu to you fair, spanish ladies...

Travis' kid and the care free daughter could just die already. Just don't care for either character. The only character I care about, honestly, is Travis. I'm starting to care what happens to his ex wife, but the rest of them can die in the season finale and not make it to next season. I don't care if there even is a next season. But just my opinion.

 
not one character I like or really care about except for the x-wife. The guy in the holding cell with druggiedepp© has potential though...

waiting for the triumphant return of Tobias.

 
There was one black soldier, I think, on the convoy detail. Heck, maybe on the whole California national guard. Which seems about right since the US Army is 99% white. :rolleyes:

yeah, i'm not trying to be "that guy". but the whole military destroys everything and this guy torturing to get his wife back is just silly. there have been about 30 zombie books written the last 6-7 years that have this scenario 10x better. i get budget constrains, but the story could be a bit better

The story line with the national guard is pretty flimsy.

1. What is the point of killing all the civilians before they pull out? The only thing I can think of is they want to prevent them from becoming walkers but even then that is a leap I just can't make. While retreating the army is going to waste ordinance and time to murder american citizens? No way. Like that soldier who said he is getting back to San Diego they all have families in these safe zones and oh well I guess some other soldiers is going to kill my family so I might as well stay here and kill these people.

2. Why does a low ranking soldier have all that intel. Why the hell wouldn't he just tell his girlfriend?

3. Why does he go through the motion to spare his girlfriend from getting sent downtown is he knows they are going to shoot her in 12 hours?

In the case she isn't his girlfriend why even bother disobeying a superior.

 
Just a couple of other things.

That black guy is a jerk. I can't believe he sent Sam Galfanakis to the death squad.

How much of a ##### is Travis. Seriously even if you thought that the doughnut lady was still alive she had her arm eaten off, putting her down would have been merciful.

Worst soldiers ever. I mean how many zombies were in that library. For the love of god Abraham held off a ton of them next to a back hoe with a cinder block. Two squads couldn't bottle up a hallway? Terrible.

You just know Daniel thinks it is a great idea to let all the zombies out to tie up the guard while he saves his dead wife.

If wussy boy would have pulled the trigger on that Barrett, the scope would have taken off a nice chunk of his forehead.

Would have been a good scene. Too bad that it didn't happen.

 
Ok so you just found out that in the morning the army is coming to kill you what would you do?

Escape - Just get you family and sneak out with what supplies you could carry.

Hide - Go to an empty house and bunker down in the basement. I doubt they are going to re search every marked abandoned house looking for stragglers.

Divert - Go to a stadium and release thousands of zombies and try to escape in the ensuing confusion.

Get help - Do you take the time to warn neighbors? It would help them and aid you if there is some resistance to the army in the morning keeping them for looking for you while you escape or hide.

Make a break for it - Try to hijack a hummer/take out guards and make a break for it.

Use a hostage - I only bring this up because it was in the episode. Use the soldier for leverage.

Negotiate - Talk it out with the army.

Shane - Take out some neighbors and turn the walkers loose inside.

Fight - Go rambo and take down the army with your shotgun.

I thought he did, but the soldier just said "He's not coming" so maybe he miraculously survives to return later.

I would guess that those two that came back just ditched when it got bad. Maybe he died, maybe they just ran. Either way he kind of got what he deserved (From a story perspective).

I just thought of a way for the writers to be ultra lazy. A Captain Moyers zombie is getting ready to chow down on a squealing Chris and Travis cries "Not my son" and Travis mutters thank you of showing me what I have to do and shoots zombie army man a a tear drops from Travis' eye.
