You're right.  I should have specified that the "people" I'm referring to aren't the obligees.

I missed the part where he makes $12.50/hr, wow. So you couple that with the fact that his wife makes a lot more than him as a realtor, there's a decent chance she controls the finances or watches closely. It's day 4 now. Pretty unbelievable, but it looks more likely than not that he's gone for good.

 
At 12.50 an hour he would have to work 168 hours (pre-tax) to pay off his bet. That's an average American work month. 

If you take off 20% for taxes he would have to work 210 hours.

This is where I was initially.  I genuinely thought* that CSTU would need a day or two and then come back and at least address the bet issue. But time for mourning has passed and, again, I think I can speak for the obligees that if he came back and at least tried to work something out since $2100 (sorry, $2200) is a lot of money for almost anybody, that they'd back off pretty reasonably.  Had that happened I'd totally agree with you that people are vastly overreaching here. 

But, three things, assuming to be true, make it hard to feel badly for CSTU: 

1. He's blasted Trump on here for not paying his taxes and for intimating that the election was rigged.  That right there sets up a ton of potential hypocrisy should cstu then refuse to either not pay and/or refuse to accept the results. 

2. He's bragged about being able to pay at least a significant portion (the $1400) of this bet should he lose.  

3.  Apparently, he has previously outed other(s) on this site for not paying.  

* Then again, I also genuinely thought there was no way all those people would vote for Trump.

4. I think within the past week he was in the 4K Television thread posting links to something like a $2400 OLED he was considering buying.

Why? Have you not read about his actions here or how other welchers have been treated in the past? He was a #### to a lot of people and deserves everything coming his way. 

 
Good lord!  I have a lot of catching up to do in this thread if I'm going to figure out what the hell is going on.. Is there a page you guys can direct me to that explains the pigeons, etc?  Last I knew everyone was making fun of him for being ghost after the election....  :bag:

 
I have broken bread with CSTU but haven't kept up with him much lately. I have no idea how to get in touch with him but does have a weakness for Jaguars, older models.

What exactly happened? Wasn't this the Otis thread?

How do we know he makes 12.50? That still almost middle class these days.

He offered 7/1 odds on trunk, 4 people took him up on it. I asked if he was sure he was good for it, he said yes.

Now he's gone. He posted himself in the past that he made 12.50 an hour but I think he has ad different job now.

What is the jaguar thing? Is that code? Should I be scouting out vintage car auctions in LA?

Because they are short-sighted and selfish.  He never figured he would lose.  Now that he has lost - he doesn't want to pay and figures he can just come back under another alias whenever he wants.
