I think it has more to do with him being able to move through shadows.Everytime we've seen him he appeard from a shadowed area...Beat me to it...this show is more and more like x-men every week.DL = Kitty Pryde =The story between Hiro and Peter is warming up nicely.

This is a good point. As for ripping off of comics...when u do a show about superpowered humans...its impossible not to. everything has been done to death in the comic book world and stories always get recycled and rehashed so its inevitable that this show in essence rips straight from the comics, its hard to come up with original powers that havent been done before.
Especially X-Men who have featured a character with virtually every super power at one time or another over the past 30+ years. As for ripping off of comics...when u do a show about superpowered humans...its impossible not to. everything has been done to death in the comic book world and stories always get recycled and rehashed so its inevitable that this show in essence rips straight from the comics, its hard to come up with original powers that havent been done before.

Too much overthinking goes on in this thread. His ability is to walk through walls/objects.And we haven't ever seen him before. There are two black bald guys. One with memory erasing powers and one who can walk through walls.I think it has to do with his natural ability towards empathy, as in he was caring for his brother, and at his job as a nurse he cares for the elderly people who are dying. He's able to "feel" the powers of those nearby due to his empathetic abilities and draw on their powers. That's my take.DaVinci said:I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.Donny Loved Bowling said:Anyone nail down exactly what Peter's powers are? Based on many years of comic book reading in my youth I would agree with this take.I think it has to do with his natural ability towards empathy, as in he was caring for his brother, and at his job as a nurse he cares for the elderly people who are dying. Just to give proper credit - the first speculation on Peter's powers in this thread actually came from off-board.someone over at 9thwonders.com came up with a interesting idea. What if Peter really can't fly? He only uses the powers of those that he comes in contact with ala Rogue. His brother told him that after his brother caught him, that was when he flew. And he also touched the psychic and then having visions. But then again he also had visions before he visited the psychic. Also about that Simone pic...she does look a little evil there. Hmmm....
Did anyone notice when the cop was on the table and Horn Rimmed Glasses was walking away he was able to catch a piece of information from one of their minds. Then HRG said something like "they're coming along more quickly than expected". This would imply that all of their powers could be as result of some government experiment. HRG is just in charge of the project to monitor them.Thoughts?
After the last episode, I think we can put away any speculation that Mr. Glasses and the black guy are bad guys.Cancer Man was one of the best written "bad" guys on tv... ever.I'm thinking Claire's father is going to turn out to not be a "real" bad guy. Think of him like the smoking man from X-Files.
Not so sure that he is a "good" guy. I mean erasing someones memory isnt really that good of a thing to do. Not sure if Glasses Man has a power but he has some "control" over Eraser Man.Did anyone notice when the cop was on the table and Horn Rimmed Glasses was walking away he was able to catch a piece of information from one of their minds. When Mohinder asked him about Sylar he reacts as though he recognizes the name and asks Mohinder who he is.But later that episode he puts his brother in contact with Mohinder. If he was Sylar I don't think he would want his brother in contact with Mohinder. On the other hand, there is definitely an evil undercurrent with him, he tells glasses/black guy that he will kill them now that he has seen their faces.I still think there's a good chance he is Sylar.
Still think this is a possibility. The shots of him looking mournful when saying he can't always protect Claire imply he would be the one to hurt her, but they can also be taken to mean he knows hurt is coming her way but can't stop it. Maybe they have a precog that told them Claire is the key.According to the picture posted in this thread future Hiro is sporting the same symbol on his sword that is on the black guy's necklace, which implies that glasses dude and his organization might be studying/training the heroes not trying to hurt them. Maybe they are the ones who trained Hiro. They might also know that the cheerleader is special, which is why they kept her close.
I meant in relative terms....I'm pretty sure he's not Sylar, and he isn't the one who is going to nuke NYC. I think he's going to turn out to be a mostly good guy with a "any means necessary" philosophy. Not so sure that he is a "good" guy. I mean erasing someones memory isnt really that good of a thing to do. This would be annoying if true since, presumably, they've shot the entire first season. The producers keep saying that they haven't cast Sylar yet.So, unless they depart from their current plans, its not any of them.
I think that's just to indicate the menacing aspect - very Nosferatru.A couple more thoughts on the cheerleader painting. 2. When Claire was running, the shadow she cast on the steps was generally in close proportion to her actual size, which would seem to indicate that whomever cast the large shadow on the steps in the painting is of enormous proportions.
I thought they've only got 9 or 10 episodes in the can right now? This would be annoying if true since, presumably, they've shot the entire first season. The producers keep saying that they haven't cast Sylar yet.So, unless they depart from their current plans, its not any of them.
They certainly don't have the entire season done since they only got picked up for a full season a couple weeks ago.I thought they've only got 9 or 10 episodes in the can right now? This would be annoying if true since, presumably, they've shot the entire first season. The producers keep saying that they haven't cast Sylar yet.So, unless they depart from their current plans, its not any of them.
In the spoilers for next week they show then discovering the symbol on an object. This may lead to figuring out if they are born into it or not. BTW the Sonic Boom was awesome. His character in personality is like Wolverine in the anti-hero sense. You see flashes of good but you know he's got a lotta bad.So what we don't really know is were all of these individuals born with these abilities? Seems a little strange that they are all figuring out their abilities at the same time, could this be a hole in the writing or would there be a valid explanation behind it? The exception here is the politician, he seems to have known about his ability for a while, unless he flew for the first time when Peter jumped off of the building, but I still think there's a good chance he is Sylar.

In the painting that Peter finished, didn't it look like there was a hole through her body but the top of her head was missing?Still think this is a possibility. I think his lack of painting talent is probably at fault. The hole is the high schools logo and the blood is everywhere obscuring the top of her head. Of course wth her talent beheading and keeping the head seperate may be the only way to stop her.In the painting that Peter finished, didn't it look like there was a hole through her body but the top of her head was missing?Still think this is a possibility. I thought Sylar was the whit guy in the coat and hat. This would be annoying if true since, presumably, they've shot the entire first season. The producers keep saying that they haven't cast Sylar yet.So, unless they depart from their current plans, its not any of them.
But since we didn't get to see his face, they can cast just about anyone for the role later. Chances are, though, Sylar will still be sporting the hat and coat cuz we saw him in Isaac/Peter's painting.People who kidnapped the policeman <> SylarSorry if this has been discussed, but why didn't they "un-brain" the guy who can read minds?
Sylar is the one that takes the brains. I don't think glasses guy and erasor guy are 100% bad. They probably work for the organization that's represented by the half helix symbol.Sorry if this has been discussed, but why didn't they "un-brain" the guy who can read minds?
I dunno about that one. You have to think about him going from stick figures to replicating Isaac's style. I think the head is off and Sylar is the one chasing her. In terms of the shadow, I think that's Isaac's take on the visions, which is kind of like a dream, and things get distorted.I think his lack of painting talent is probably at fault. I think I read somewhere that they just used a stunt guy for that scene.I thought Sylar was the whit guy in the coat and hat. This would be annoying if true since, presumably, they've shot the entire first season. The producers keep saying that they haven't cast Sylar yet.So, unless they depart from their current plans, its not any of them. But since we didn't get to see his face, they can cast just about anyone for the role later. Agreed. I'm hooked. Taped the show from yesterday and just finished it. Hiro is such a great character, definitely my favorite. This show rules!
He reminds me somehow of the foreign guy on American Idol who sang horribly but everyone loved.Agreed. I'm hooked. Taped the show from yesterday and just finished it. Hiro is such a great character, definitely my favorite. This show rules!![]()

The guy with Claire's Dad is not the same guy who showed up at the end. The guy who showed up at the end is Nikki's husband (Micah's father). After skimming over the last couple of pages I've got a question:Are Micah's father, the black guy who is with Claire's Dad, and the black guy who showed up in Nikki's house at the end not the same person?
Its Nathan, not Michael. hthThis show just keeps getting better and better. It's doing a very nice job of pacing the character and power development, enough to keep you interested and sucked in but not going over the top. I was thinking the neighbour chick was Sylar as well like a previous poster said. The voice on the tape sounded male but also sounded like it could've been done with a voice mask, it had that kind of hollow tone to it. She knew the professer well, as Sylar is implied to have, and is quite interested in Mohinder and him carrying on his father's work (potential finding her more victims?). Though if we see her in a scene with HRG and Blankman next week that pretty much shoots that theory down (the DL I had didn't include the previews). I like the charactor of Michael alot. He's selfish, egotistical and conflicted. He's got this awesome power of flight that he obviously loves ("I'm thinking of flying over the desert") but doesn't fit in with his world, life, anything he really seems to want. He went from total gaga over single mom to distaste in like a split second when he found out she messed with him. He played hardball and didn't back down from both HRG and Blankman and the mob guy. I'm really interested to see how he develops as the series goes on. Hiro is awesome as well. His childlike nature and obvious delight in his powers lighten what could be a really dark show. His contrast with Michael was aweosme in this episode. I'm interested to see if he starts to work on his teleporting power since he hasn't used that since he left Japan. All in all, the first couple episodes didn't sell me but I'm thoroughly hooked now.
