I'm not sure Hillary wants to go down this rabbit hole does she?  Does she want people doing the "guilty by association" shtick with her?  I can't imagine she does.
This is not guilt by association. I strongly defended Obama's friendship with Jeremiah Wright, because I don't care who you're friends with. But if Obama had hired Wright to be in charge of his campaign, and if Obama started spouting some of Wright's more offensive ideas. I'd have had a BIG problem with that.

Given I pay little attention to this goober, these are genuine questions (believe it or not).  So what ideas have been derived from this group that Trump has adopted since receiving their endorsement / hiring this campaign guy that would trigger a desire by Hillary to go down this path of naming this group specifically?

I could give you some (not all) stuff off the top of my head, but I'm sure Hillary will be more thorough later this afternoon.

Absolutely she would do that, it's a Brock specialty with a dash of Blumenthal stories peppered in the media.

eta - I think in this situation it's fair to do so. No need to use the long knives here.

I am of two minds of this alt right speech. While Trump does deserve to be called out for this, the reality is the Dukes of the world have been begging to be relevant for 40 years, this might just give them that.

I just don't see the point SID....Trump has a mountain of things they could focus on.  There's no need to put this front an center.  Select one of the other billion things that he's directly tied to....don't need to go searching for (or making up) reasons not to like this clown.

Being on SCOTUS is probably the dream of any professor who has taught constitutional law. And what better way to help preserve his legacy? He would be viewed as the actual successor to Thurgood Marshall (Thomas was hyped as that by the right, but his votes have hardly been liberal or progressive and has done little to help AAs or other minorities).
SCOTUS votes are supposed to be based on interpreting the law, not helping out any one group.

It's pretty simple actually. For the last week Trump has been making the argument that he's not a racist after all. Although supposedly he's addressing minority voters, his real target is white moderate Republicans and independents who were uncomfortable with the idea of supporting a racist. Hillary's speech is designed for these same people to tell them "oh no, he really is a racist."

As a political junkie I think she has more to lose than gain with the alt right angle.

Given the incarnation rates of black Americans and the widening unemployment gap between blacks and whites, maybe a "racist" would be an improvement over the establishment.

Hillary is a bigger racist than Donald

If Trump were smart he would give a nice history lesson on the Democat party...Andy Jackson's relationship with Native-Americans and their land, the dems supporting slavery to the point of starting a civil war, the KKK being a goon squad for the dems, the dems not supporting civil rights and advocating segregation...would be nice to see this party called out for this stuff instead of whitewashing history and pretending the GOP was responsible for this nonsense...wouldn't hurt to point out that the argument that illegal aliens are doing the work Americans won't do is the same one used by the south to defend slavery...

Why?  The press will cover the speech.  They then turn around and ask Trump if he's a racist.  At that point, she's won the debate.  This is the "Clinton is sick angle", but for Trump.

The Trump campaign issued a statement from campaign surrogate Mark Burns, an African-American paster, calling it a "new low" and "horrific."

"Hillary Clinton and her campaign went to a disgusting new low today as they released a video tying the Trump Campaign with horrific racial images. This type of rhetoric and repulsive advertising is revolting and completely beyond the pale," Burns said in the statement sent to USA TODAY. "I call on Hillary Clinton to disavow this video and her campaign for this sickening act that has no place in our world."

Yes, indeed, it will definitely be a winning argument to say that today's Democratic Party is the same one that started the Civil War, was responsible for genocide against Native Americans and founded the KKK. That should sway the few undecided voters that are left in Trump's favor.

You should probably keep reading your history book until at least the 1960s

That's Hillary, she does stuff Obama would not do. She has the subtlety of a 2x4. Ask not why, the answer is 'because it's there.'

This move requires dexterity and subtlety on the part of Hillary.

Not her strongpantsuit.

Average of the polling aggregators has it a 6.5% race today.  Down maybe one percent over the last week.  Probably just drift, but no way of knowing.

My question still stands and I look forward to the answer....tia.

"Twenty years ago, when Bob Dole accepted the Republican nomination, he pointed to the exits and told any racists in the Party to get out.

The week after 9/11, George W. Bush went to a mosque and declared for everyone to hear that Muslims “love America just as much as I do.”

In 2008, John McCain told his own supporters they were wrong about the man he was trying to defeat. Senator McCain made sure they knew – Barack Obama is an American citizen and “a decent person.”

We need that kind of leadership again.

Every day, more Americans are standing up and saying “enough is enough” – including a lot of Republicans. I’m honored to have their support.

And I promise you this: with your help, I will be a President for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. For those who vote for me and those who don’t.

For all Americans.

Because I believe we are stronger together."

Not bad for an old pantsuit. Good luck Donald.

I read this....I think I'd rather have held my breath and waited for details on the topics she was supposedly going to address instead of talking about Trump being a racist.

Hillary would prefer you call those incarcerated "super-predators"...

Does anyone have a list of accomplishments Hillary had as Senator helping African-Americans?

Cool, we're interested in policies? Hillary has a detailed outline for small business growth, that was put together by actually listening to small business people, which was going to be the focus of the speech.

Details on the topic she was going to discuss

I'll hold for Trump's details on basically anything.

Details on more issues, since there's suddenly a heightened interest.

Again, I'll hold for Donald's true stance on anything, let alone on any plans to get something accomplished.

:lmao:

Talk about an oldie. Rush and Hannity have been making this "Byrd was once a KKK member so the Dems are racist!" argument for 20 years or more!
He was in office as President Pro Tempore 6 years ago...what exactly is the expiration date on criticizing a guy for being an Exalted Cyclops in the Klan?  Once you get to 20 years out of the Klan do you get a pass?
