Call it what it is: you form an opinion on players before they play a single down in the NFL, and stick with that opinion. For years. Everyone who has been around these forums knows the deal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking that approach at all. Actually, I think it's probably a better way to attack things than wildly moving guys up, down, and around in reaction to a few game sample size. But own your own methodology man.
That's definitely my reputation. A lot of that stems from a few really high-profile examples like Mendenhall, Stewart, and McFadden that people often mention when I post. The irony there is that I don't think my pre-draft take on those players was THAT far off from how their NFL careers unfolded, but anyway...
A reputation that is well deserved. In at least a hafl dozen different posts, you said this repeatedly about Richardson.

Richardson is a mortal lock to become a productive franchise RB in the NFL. He has no flaws.

Mortal lock essentially means a sure thing, a player that can not fail (barring injury).
Yea, and he might well justify that in time.

Got a couple I've just made:

Team is 6-1, Superflex PPR, 19 man rosters, McFadden/Morris/Rice at RB Marshall/Blackmon/Nelson/A.Brown/Shorts/Crabtree/Jennings at WR

Gave: Cecil Shorts

Got: Frank Gore

Team is 5-2, pretty standard PPR have DeMarco/F-Jax/Knowshon/CJ1K at RB, Marshall/AJ Green/Stevie/Allen/Gordon/C-Patt/Washington/Hunter at WR

Gave: Justin Hunter

Got: Danny Woodhead

Feel like both teams needed a win now move, thoughts?

Cheers

I traded: Eifert, 3rd in 2014

I got: Reed, 2nd in 2014
I like that trade a lot, not because I think either side won, but because I think if I were to come up with a generic trade that would cause me to move Eifert for Reed or Reed for Eifert, this is probably what it'd be. I think that's spot-on with my relative valuations of the two.
Thanks, we both kinda agreed. I'm a Skins fan, thus wanted Reed, but I know that Eifert probably has more long term potential, Reed just landed in a better situation.

Couple of trades from our league this week. 12 teams, .5 PPR, 6pt passing TDs, 2RB/3WR plus a RB/WR/TE flex.

Team A gave:

Andre Ellington

Tyler Eifert

Stevie Johnson

Team B gave:

Chris Johnson

Darrius Heyward-Bey

2nd trade:

Team C gave:

Ray Rice

Team D gave:

Justin Blackmon

E.J. Manuel

I feel like Reed only got put in the better situation this year. Think Gresham is gone next season and Eifert is at worse, the 3rd option in the offense.

Gresham is signed through 2014 (about $2mil, totally reasonable contract). I wouldn't be shocked if Cincinnati extended him and just continued running 2TE sets as its base offense. Both TEs are good players and bring something to the offense, and as we've seen in recent years, there's room in NFL offenses for both of them.

12 Team PPR - I thought I had a pretty good team but due to injuries, etc. I'm basically done this year so I decided to revamp for future. Made 2 trades:

Gave: Demaryius Thomas

Received: Randall Cobb and Rd 1 pick in 2014 (late)

Gave: Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Rd 3 pick in 2014 (early)

Received: Andrew Luck, Stevie Johnson, Rd 1 pick in 2014 (top 3, maybe #1), Rd 1 pick in 2014 (late)

12 team PPR, 1QB 1RB 2WR 1TE 2FLEX

Team A trades:

CJ Spiller

Team B trades:

Shane Vereen

Jarrett Boykin

2014 2nd Rd Pick

Team B is 6-1, and Team A is 3-4 in the mix for final playoff spot.

Thought it was a pretty bad deal, has Spiller's value really dropped this low?

I don't like either of those for you. Also don't see why revamping for future involves trading Thomas and rodgers

Agreed. Rogers/Demaryius/Jordy is a pretty solid core for the future, especially if it was mostly injuries that killed your season this year.

I don't think the 2nd trade is that awful. Slight downgrade for Rodgers to Luck with a late first, the. Jordy/3rd for Stevie/early 1st. Seems pretty even.

First one isn't awful, but I'd definitely keep the Demary side.

For the first trade; I think Cobb and Thomas are pretty close in value, plus Cobb is 3 years younger and I get a #1 pick.

The second trade was tougher because I think Rodgers will be elite for the foreseeable future, but Luck is already a top-5 QB in my mind and he's 6 years younger, Jordy's a top WR but feel that Stevie's always underrated and has performed close or outperformed Jordy in previous years and is actually a year younger. The fact that I got 2 #1s with one being a top 3 pick made the trade for me.

14 Team PPR Dynasty. Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex (can flex QB), Flex, K, DST

Team A Gives - Frank Gore

Team B Gives - Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas

Team B is me. I am right behind the leader in this league and in trouble at RB. Needed some consistent production. Team A is in 11th place.

So is Luck, Cobb, a top 3 pick, 2 late 1st's and Stevie (assuming you can trade him for something).

2QB dynasty league where I'm on a rebuild project. I had Palmer, A Smith, Schaub at QB, and one of the other guys had just Sam Bradford but is currently in 2nd place.

I give: Carson Palmer

I get: 2014 2nd rounder

Even if it's middle of the round, I think Palmer is done and the Cardinals go after a QB next year so happy to get any value from him. I also have Bridgewater already rostered, as we can have one college player on a devy squad.

Team A gives: Tom Brady (1year contract) + Steven Jackson (3 years contract) + Eric Decker (2) + Graham (1)

Team B gives: Manning (1) + Marshall (3) + Witten (1)

Team A new lineup: Manning / Forte / McCoy / Alfred Morris / Marshall / Gronk

Team A old lineup: Brady / Forte / McCoy / Graham / Decker / Gronk

Team B new lineup: Brady / Jackson / Decker / Vincent Jackson / Randle / Graham

Team B old lineup: Manning / Mendenhall / Jackson / Marshall / Randle / Witten

It is a little low in my opinion but this would be 10 times better then any offer I have received for Spiller. I had one owner inquire about Spiller and he told me he wanted him but wouldn't pay top 25 running back price for him. I laughed.

IMO Spiller is still a top 5ish RB (PPR), he's just been hurt this year. He didn't suddenly forget how to run during the offseason.

Gave: DeAndre Hopkins + Lattimore

Got: Ray Rice + 2014 4th rounder

12 team, Keep 12, non-ppr

Thoughts?

I think Rice is done as a rb1. He has a lot of mileage and without looking I would bet he has averaged over 400 touches a year, including the playoffs for the last 4 years. They don't make them like they used too.

Big one. My team was decimated by injuries so im a next year team. Was deep at wr with julio, cobb, cruz and harvin.

Traded Cruz, Mathews, Woodhead and Kuechly for Gio, Patterson and Arthur Brown

A lot of risk but i figured what the hell

Don't like it for you at all. Even if you don't believe lattimore will start soon and be productive, he has good trade value. Hopkins looks like the real deal. Rice might be good for a couple years, but long term this will hurt.

Another Spiller trade....this is in a 10 team PPR, 1 RB 1WR 1TE 3FLEX

Team A trades:

CJ Spiller

Team B trades:

Jordan Cameron

Jake Locker

Team B had Gronkowski in addition to Cameron (which made Cameron somewhat expendable) and Team A had Clay/Rudolph at TE. Team A's QBs are Rivers and Roethlisberger.

Locker doesn't do much for A.

Prefer spiller by a lot although Cameron has extra value if you can flex TE.

12 team Ppr.

Dez, H. Miller and Streeter for D.Jackson, R.Randle, J.Reed and 2014 1st (team is 1-6 so far).

We use contracts in our league, 26man rosters, 16-team PPR. $400 annual salary, up to 3 year contracts (which can be extended with inflation). Not every player under contract.

Team A gives: Doug Martin $66, Mike James, Tony Romo, Danny Amendola $15.

Team B gives: Jake Locker $7, Eddie Lacy $21, and 2014 1st round pick (likely top 3 overall).

I am team A. I am 4-3 with a chance at the division and I already have RG3 so Romo not a loss.

The EBF bashing is getting old guys. What is wrong with forming an opinion before they reach the NFL. Don’t we WANT to see this? I certainly do. It is helpful to say the least.

If the bashing is because EBF “sticks with his opinion. For years”, then Squistion and Tdmills are arguing against their own point. EBF has already begun to waiver on TRich (as was part of the basis of Coeur de Lion’s criticism), EBF has changed his tune on Forte over the years and Im pretty sure Marcus Wheaton is no longer EBF’s #1 rookie.

Do you have a point or is bringing up Forte, Wheaton, etc. just another veiled personal attack?

:goodposting: He's a good poster. I don't know why some are so inclined against him. Sure, he's had some mistakes. But that's what goes with being one of the posters to openly post his rookie rankings every year.

My issue with EBF is he's pretentious. We all have our opinions, but thinking we are entitled to more respect than others on these boards is my issue. How did I come to that conclusion? After years of his posts with how he talks to people, he dumbs people down(not just me, as I don't post often in here anymore). This isn't just about Jstew/DMC/Forte. It's about him bashing someone for taking Dorial Green-Beckham because he will have to wait multiple years for him to even be FF startable, then turn around the next year and take Thomas Tyner(also a true freshman)...contradict much. He also posts things for attention, look at me. I don't think the point of the SP is for attention or entitlement, I thought it was to discuss and gather information. If it is the former, I apologize.

Cliff notes version: EBF is captain pretentious with how he posts in here over years. If he changed that, I wouldn't have issues because we all have wrong calls in FF.

Any opinions on Jordan Reed's value (pre-Denver game), aside from the Eiffert deal above?

Is he worth a mid-late first round pick next year?

So, what I am reading is that you bringing up Wheaton and Forte was not on the basis of bad calls (because we all have them), but as I said, a veiled personal attack, another opportunity to call him pretentious. We know how you feel (based on your prior posts on EBF), and you’re entitled to feel that way. It is not necessary, however, to continue to bring that up.

That is pretty much where I am coming from. And I agree about posting things for attention - my take is there is always some aspect of self-promotion, so that he can bump the thread later and say "See, I told you so!" (which he has never been shy about doing when he calls something right).

But please stop bringing it up at each opportunity.
If you didn't want an answer, then don't ask the question. I simply responded.

If you can't see through to the actual point, then i'll help you. I don't think EBF is this guru that his groupies in here talk him up to be. How are Chris Harper/Josh Boyce doing right now? Edwin Baker? Jon Baldwin? etc etc. Posters should start making him accountable for his calls because it may cost your team.

Any opinions on Jordan Reed's value (pre-Denver game), aside from the Eiffert deal above?

Is he worth a mid-late first round pick next year?

2014 first (late mid)

Jordan Reed

MJD

Received:

Jared Cook

Danny Amendola

This was the week before Reed blew up, same week Amendola got a concussion. A little perspective on the trade, I needed a WR and I have Julius Thomas AND Jimmy Graham - I definitely think hes worth a mid-late first.

This is crap and you know it. No one is a 'guru' here and even the professionals with their jobs on the line can't even do it with 50% accuracy.

It seems to me like you're singling EBF because he's one of the few willing to stick his neck out around here.

We call our shots, we make our cases. Advice is cheap for a reason.

Your contention is incorrect. He has a following(groupies, whatever you want to call them) and I don't think they check into how often he's wrong. Nobody is right all the time, but his stubbornness is thicker than most, which is dangerous.

My biggest issue is demeanor and attention seeking in posting.

Gave: DeAndre Hopkins + Lattimore

Got: Ray Rice + 2014 4th rounder

12 team, Keep 12, non-ppr

Thoughts?
Don't like it for you at all. Even if you don't believe lattimore will start soon and be productive, he has good trade value. Hopkins looks like the real deal. Rice might be good for a couple years, but long term this will hurt.
I guess it comes down to if you think Rice can still be an RB1 over the next 2-3 years. I think he can.

Also, in a Keep 12 league, you can get to 12 players to keep pretty darn quickly before you start asking "can I keep a dude who might not ever play at a high level in the NFL?" obviously, Hopkins was in my list of 12, but Lattimore was a lottery ticket. I also have AJGreen, Nelson, Wallace, Gordon and Floyd at WR, so I was dealing from a position of strength to a position of weakness.

We'll see. I happy to have the best receiver perhaps in the history of football who just turned 28.
Green was the #3 WR last season. Calvin isn't always going to have historical 2,000 yard seasons.

Don't get me wrong, I've got Calvin as my #1 WR for the foreseeable future. You just gave up a ton for a minimal upgrade.

I highly doubt you make this trade if Green wasn't having a slow start to the season. Which makes it incredibly short-sighted.
Looking ok so far. Nobody can do what Calvin can do. Not Dez, not AJ. Not anybody.....ever.

12 team ppr QRRWWTFKD

Worked out a huge deal. Probably lost the trade as of values for right now, but could win huge in a few years. Both teams are 3-3, I was tied in my division but didn't feel like I had the stable of RB's to win a playoff game.

Gave: Terrelle Pryor, Ryan Mathews, Daryl Richardson, A.J. Green, Jordan Cameron

Received: Alex Smith, Trent Richardson, James Starks, Alshon Jeffrey, Rob Gronkowski, '14 1st (guessing 1.08-1.12)

Core is currently

Luck, Smith, Big Ben

TRich, DMC, DWill

BMarsh, Harvin, Alshon, Torrey Smith, Denarius, Broyles, Hunter

Gronk, Fleener, Finley

Also trying to work out some deal with BMarsh for Cobb and play for a run next year.

I'm high on Alshon, even before the back to back games he put together as I acquired him in three leagues during the offseason, but this deal definitely hinges on whether TRich gets it going in Indy and Gronk not getting reinjured.
Got offered in this league

I give: Darren McFadden, Brandon Marshall

I received: Doug Martin, Randall Cobb

Couple other deals

12 team ppr, QRRWWTKF

Team A gives: LeSean McCoy, '14 2nd

Team B gives: Le'Veon Bell, T.Y. Hilton, Kenbrell Thompkins

Team A's roster needed some help, Team B has a good shot at winning the league.

10 team ppr QRRWWWTKD, Super flex, reg. flex

Team A gives: Danny Amendola, '14 4t

Team B gives: Roy Helu

Team A has Alfred Morris
