And the Albino Tiger is out. Again.
Surprisingly Marks and Thomas are both listed as questionable.

Supposedly Marks really wants to play but the organization is holdng him out.

I don't see either playing. Would love to see them out there, though.

While losing like this sucks, Jax might be in a prime position next year.

Lots of young players and the skill positions seem set. The D isn't that bad and when Fowler comes back could see a nice jump.

Drafting high in April could be the best thing that happens if they land a stud Olineman. Really that's all they need to turn the corner IMO.

You might be right, but this defense is really bad. If the team was relying on an unproven rookie pass rusher to save them, then the issues with this team are deeper than imagined. Dante Fowler might be good, but more than that is needed. Chris Clemons and Andre Branch are no good. One is too old and the other sucks. And then there is the coaching....Like, how does this even happen??? http://deadspin.com/bernard-pierce-doesnt-have-an-explanation-for-why-he-bl-1736091333?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

Seriously, how does that happen?

Yep. Definitely the coach's fault! (In truth, it looks like he got pissed about something the blocker said & turned to confront him.)

He apparently had concussion symptoms, which would at least help explain it.

Gus' seat getting warmer as another winnable game slips away.

No halftime adjustments on defense and the special teams, oy.

Robinson and Hurns: The Jaguars dominant duo

Mike Kaye, mkaye@firstcoastnews.com

The Jacksonville Jaguars have plenty to pick at right now. The 1-4 squad is inconsistent as a group, makes mental errors by the dozens and seemingly can't experience victory as much as they'd like to "believe" in it.

However, while fans are up in arms about the coaching staff, a nationally-unassuming duo is making historic strides (and fantasy football owners happy). The under-the-radar twosome of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns is currently lighting the NFL on fire from a statistical perspective. With a combined 49 catches for 832 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, "The Allens" are second in the league in receptions and receiving yards as a duo, while also being among the league's leaders in total receiving duo touchdowns at seven.

The two are both pals on the field and basically inseparable in the locker room. Robinson, the 11th wide receiver taken in last year's draft, has overcome injuries early in his career to become a legit No. 1 receiver. He is only 22-years-old, but is tied for third in the league in touchdown receptions (4) with the likes of Julio Jones and Randall Cobb through five games. Robinson is also averaging an electric 18.3 yards per catch (which ranks third in the NFL for players with at least 20 catches).

Robinson's co-pilot at wide receiver is Allen Hurns, an undrafted pass catcher out of Miami, who is currently beating their draft class with 430 receiving yards this season. Hurns has gone from draft afterthought to a player that has as many receptions and more receiving yards and touchdowns than the three players taken before Robinson in the second round of the draft. Hurns has collected 78 total catches, 1107 total yards and nine total touchdowns through Week 5 of his second NFL season. In that same time, Cody Latimer, Paul Richardson and Davante Adams have combined for 78 receptions for 740 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

While a lot is made of Odell Beckham Jr. and Jordan Matthews in the NFC East, Hurns has more yards and as many touchdowns as the former and more yardage and scores than the latter.

Hurns and Robinson are both on pace to far-exceed 1,000 receiving yards, after the Jaguars have gone without just one of those seasons in over a decade.

Perhaps, the most encouraging numbers (stats aside) are 22 and 23. Those two numbers are Robinson and Hurns' ages. They may not have reached their peak yet and if Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles continues to progress along with rookie running back T.J. Yeldon, the Jaguars could have a successful offensive nucleus for the next decade and that's not even including big money signing Julius Thomas.

Saw this today and it kind of hit me:

The Jags have won 12 games since Jack Del Rio was fired.

Jack Del Rio was fired 5 years ago.

Gus is fluting over with the team to London. Whether he's on the team charter coming back remains to be seen
He'll fly back with the team and will be fired the next day. There is no other option than to move on, really. It's a shame, I really like Gus. He's just not cut out to be a head coach. This team looks as bad as it did back in year 1 of the rebuild.

- they went out and drafted/acquired big physical corners but they sit back in a soft zone because of the lack of pass rush

- when they do blitz(rarely), they don't get home

- Bortles has put up big numbers in hurry-up time but they refuse to go up-tempo except when they absolutely need to

- Yeldon has looked pedestrian which is still much better than the dreck we saw yesterday.

- They're getting killed in the third and fourth quarters as other teams make adjustments and the Jags just keep doing the same thing

Rumor is that the NFL will announce today that the Jags will play home and away games (one each in consecutive weeks) in London next year.

This might be due at least in part because Notre Dame plays Navy at Everbank Field next year the week after Florida-Georgia.

As part of his “accountability”, Gus has decided to bench Davon House and start Gratz. What? I know House struggled in the 4th quarter against Hopkins last week but he held his own in first half and single coverage on Hopkins might be a flaw in Gus’ gameplan.

Even more confusing is that McCray has looked better than Gratz and he’s being passed over.

Finally, you have the Gus vs Dave aspect. Is Gus intentionally benching a high profile free agent pickup so he can blame the front office?

Part of the problem with that is that they went out and drafted/signed bigger corners under the premise they were going to bump them tight to the line and instead the corners are playing off.

if there is anything that history has taught us it is that if you want a good game all you really need is pitbull to apper at halftime hell it made the beef of bitcoins bowl good so i hope that the nfls most proud and storied franchise hires pitbull to perform every half time and also to disguise himself as a hotdog vendor along with todays hottest artists dj major and lazer snake and randomly bust in to a rap in various sections of the stadium when the jags are down by thirty in the first quarter people will stick around just for that take that to the bank braxonville bromigos edited for grammer

It sure does seem really disfunctional now. The House benching is a head scratcher. And why doesn't Ryan Davis get more snaps? He's the team's best pass rusher.

Agree on Ryan Davis. Branch and Clemmons don't lose playing time and Clemmons gets "Veterans Day Off". Maybe he'll be fresher if you sit his ### on the bench

@Ryan_Boser:

22.2YO Allen Robinson on pace for 1339.4Y/13.7TD. Here's the full list of players who've hit 1300/13 at 22 or under:

Randy Moss.

Pretty good for an "average" receiver.

Yeah, I doubt the Jags could get to 6 wins. But I'd love to see three 3-6 teams atop the division that late in the season.

The ridiculousness of the dumpster fire AFC South means that the 2-5 Jaguars are a half game out of first.

So two weeks ago, people were looking for heads to roll. This week people are asking if the Jags will try to "win now" and pick up a pass rusher or safety before the deadline.

I still think changes need to be made, but I am also of the opinion that there is some decent talent on both sides of the ball. Obviously we aren't very good defensively. But I think the vast majority of that has to do with the complete lack of a pass rush. Asking the DB's to hold DeAndre Hopkins or even the less talented WR's in check with no pass rush is asking for a slow death. I think adding some pressure would help tremendously.

And honestly, if we could get replace Andre Branch, I'd be happy with that.

I don't expect any one to be traded for though.
