Official ** KODI ** streaming thread (tips, help, add ons, etc) (2 Viewers)

Just signed in and got a message saying an app was non functional for some reason and click here to remove it.  It was SportsDevil.  Something wrong with it?  Or should I just reinstall normally?
Sport devil has to be manually zip file installed every time there is an update unless you are using a build that does it for you.

Installed Kodi with fusion and Exodus last night.  My wife was convinced the FBI is going to knock on our door any day now but when I showed her the Bravo and E! addons she didnt really care anymore.  This is too nice a thing.  It cant last long, right?

Also, is there a way to organize the content on Kodi?  Like some kind of custom menu for my wife's #### and another for mine?
I don't see how it doesn't last.  Kodi is open source software and 100% legal.  Viewers aren't doing anything that's been proven to be illegal. And for any website hosting the streams, new ones pop up for any that get shut down.

The closest thing that has happened that might limit it was a rumor a couple days ago that Amazon was going to limit kodi (and possibly other 3rd party apps) from being installed on their devices, but, they've since replied that they have no intentions of doing that. They want to sell devices.

There is always a way to customize Kodi however you need it. There are content restriction ad dons out there, one I posted to about 7 posts up.  Google "Kodi multiple profiles" and you'll find info on how to have log ins for different users. I don't have a need for any of that so I won't be of much help.

yea, its weird because Ive been running titanium off the PC (I've moved on from the Firestick to go to just installing it on my PC, much much faster).  Castaway and Sportsdevil have been nothing but trouble for a while now. But even before switching from the Firestick, these two were giving me fits even then.

Hmm. I don't watch much live and have been using ccloud to find news channels. I think I might have had castaway issues but just figured it was because I'm not up to date. Lazy and have been away on vacation. I'll have to update and see what's up.

Kodi is #### for football.  Had redzone perfect for 2

hrs this morn and now can't get anything anywhere.   I love how they'll have 8 links to click and none work.   Or they'll have 500 soccer games under the "American Football" heading.  It's crazy how terrible it is.

I gave up on it long ago - I watch one of the games on the networks through USTVNow.  I just end up angry trying out SportsDevil feeds.

Yup.  That's me today.  The frustration lies in the illusion of options and the twinkle of hope you get when it works perfectly for an hour or two.

I don't know how long it's been since I cut the cord, but I'm more than content with Netflix, Prime, and Sports Access SE. You know what I pay for the first two, and I know many of you are all about free, but I'm coming up on my year's subscription with Sports Access SE and thought this would interest some.

Last Black Friday they wanted $95 of bitcoin for a year. Normal price is around $12 a month. So being frustrated with NBA League Pass ($300) blacking out both the Lakers and Clippers for me, I signed up. You'll read lots of negatives about the service if you look for reviews. They've had two really bad runs of downtime (almost a week both times). They've had half dozen other not so bad runs of issues. The most recent bad down time coincided with a major UFC pay per view AND the NFL opener. Oof. The other one also involved a major UFC PPV. I'd be fine if they didn't stream them. But the rest of the PPVs ( a half dozen or so) have been perfect 720p streams. NBA has better streams than League Pass last year, and I got my home teams. I consider that a $200 savings. Baseball, soccer motorsports, etc etc., it's more sports than I... just tons. I have Redzone on HD on my 70", Cowboys Packers HD on my laptop right now.  You're allowed three devices or three streams at a time. It also works on my phone wherever I go. Customer service has been contacted three times and each time the response was satisfactory. I'm not a big whiner though. They told me not to bother with a VPN because the streams are private, so far no issues. They also suggest going straight from my browser, no Kodi, though most use Kodi without issue. You can test it for a day, a month or 3 months, price goes down as term goes up. The Twitter is @NoBuffZone, and there has been virtually NO BUFFERING. I would pay twice as much and will not hesitate to re-up on Black Friday with or without the annual deal. I know it ain't free guys but because SPORTS.

Also there's a Roku channel.

I also use the FreeTelly app for Kodi via TVAddons.  It hasn't been great, but it has been fine for how little I use it. It is a Kodi installation with Exodus Salts and as couple more scrapers pre-installed. I'm also using Real-Debrid and these small costs make this all worthwhile. I could dump Netflix and never miss it, but I don't mind supporting that company.

new firestick shipping this week

Comcast contract expires next month, about prepared to CUT THE CORD :excited:

weird  not on mine  oh well
Had this discussion with someone not along ago.  If you search for it, it isn't there, but if you go to most popular apps (or something like that) it's right at the top.  100% for stick, maybe not so with TV, but I think so.

titanium is pretty bad ###.i didn't realize what I was missing out on. only problem I have now is there's so much content to sort through I don't know what im missing out on

no buffering issues with the new firestick so far, I can notice the speed increase while navigating the menus

got the new firestick in the mail yesterday   messing with it now.. amazon has removed the es explorer from the app store so you have to install kodi using your computer. pretty easy steps just pay attention

watch this video until 13:16   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68DuQkcANHo

then watch this video starting at 2:30 to install titanium  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWyLmhsUQzc

I installed Kodi on a new fire stick last week and used ES Explorer.

my buddy just got a firestick and he had es explorer too.. I searched but couldn't find it  all good im up and running

Try searching es file. That's what the vid I watched showed. Also news kodi17? Seems weird. Maybe it's the fusion build I used via the video. Think I'll unistall and try redoing it with titanium or I've heard good things about beast.

Stick to kodi 16. Much more sestablished and stable.

what are you guys using 50% of the time? I find myself in exodus pretty much 24/7. haven't found much of a need to venture out and explore

I keep notes on my phone of upcoming tv shows and movies.  Every couple of months I google to find out what tv shows are being released and what new movies are in theaters.  I find I have to do this because I don't watch as many commercials any more, I can't rely on advertising to let me know.  For tv shows I keep track of the starting dates and for movies I just try every so often until the HD streams show up.  I know we've talked about apps that do this for you, and I've tried a couple, but keeping track on my own works best for me.

Yep, exodus is still the top dog for movies and tv shows.  I do use cCloud and Castaways when I want to watch a live cable news channel occasionally.   I have OTA that works good for live local and major network channels.

for tv shows, just scanning the first page of the what people are watching section does the trick.   i so wish they never released cam versions b/c that kills that approach for the movie version of what people are watching.

Yeah, I wish they'd have a synopsis of each on the people watching page, and if it could include an accurate video resolution available.

Live TV: USTVNow

Sports: I gave up

Dead TV or Movies: SALTS, which Searches ALl The Sources.  From there, I tend to choose a 1Channel stream because it lists the number of times it's been used, which makes it easier for me to find a good stream.  Also, it seems like streams that end in .me are generally more reliable to me.

Starting from scratch with a Fire TV Stick.

Tried ES File Explorer, but I can't seem to navigate where I need to with the remote.  For example, how do I delete a file once downloaded?  I can navigate to the file, but clicking on it only opens it, while pressing the button with three horizontal lines does nothing (would have expected a context menu).  Is there a way to use my PC to control the Fire Stick screen?

Eventually got Kodi installed using adblink, but got hung up installing Titanium.  Seemed to crash partway through and then Kodi wouldn't start at all.  Is Titanium still the way to go, or should I be doing Exodus?  Just looking for movies, TV, sports, no porn.  As easy to use as possible, preferably.

Titanium is still the best approach - it includes Exodus.

What install video did you watch, and at what time mark did things go wrong?

If anything goes wrong with a Kodi install, remove Kodi and start over (you still have the install file).

The biggest sticking point is typically at the end of Titanium installation, when it tells you to restart Kodi, but instead you should unplug/replug your Fire Stick.

A fire stick or fire TV? They are very different. If Stick, skip Titanium and install the apps you use individually.

I still keep keep an eye on torrent sites to know when newer movies get rips to replace to cams.

The bolded could definitely be the issue.

I started over, reinstalled Kodi and added Exodus and SportsDevil.  Exodus is working pretty well.  SportsDevil is a bit harder to search for what I want, but I assume I'll get the hang of it.  What does Titanium give me that those two don't?

any way to download TV episodes instead of streaming?  I have a couple 16 hour plane rides coming up, it would be great to binge-watch something while in the air.

Exodus has that ability.  You just need to set the download folder in settings.  Then for any show, when you have the source of that show highlighted, click menu and there's a download option.  I believe that's where I remember it to be.

I hope you're going some place nice.  16 hours in a plane would have me ready to jump out at 40k feet.

I like that it prompts you, then auto updates everything for you in stead of having to remember and then go find updates for add-ons that don't automatically update. .  It's one push of a button instead of finding and installing from zip Sportsdevil every time it's updated for example.    Maintenance tabs like clear cashe is up front so you don't have to try and remember where to drill down in Kodi to do it  They always keep the latest live tv add-ons that change more frequently than recorded tv add-ons do up to date and I can usually find a cable news station, for example, to watch when I feel like it.  It's also nice to have other options than exodus too, occasionally I'll be watching something with very old streams that buffer in exodus (Battlestar Galactica Season 1 Episode 3) that I was able to find in other add-ons.

But yeah, 95% of what you watch is through exodus and just that and/or tvaddon's wizard is good enough for most people.

I've been having very good luck with iStream lately over Exodus.  Takes longer to get to a link, but they tend to be better quality and more reliable (less things in another language, etc.)

I have two fire sticks that a friend installed Kodi on but I have always had buffing and freezing problems until now he reinstalled Kodi with only a few other apps and everything is fine.

I want to do upgrade, should I get the FireTV or one of the Andriod Streaming devices that have the full Kodi already installed? They are much more expensive than the FireTV but they have most of the programs installed already?

Is it a waste of money to get the streaming devices?

TIA,

Tex

I'd recommend a Fire TV instead of a stick, with nothing pre-installed.  Installing Kodi then Titanium is a pretty easy process.

My recommendation would be to get an Android streaming device NOT preloaded with Kodi unless you have zero technical ability. IMO you don't need to be an IT guy to load Kodi on one of these devices. It's pretty easy and there are a ton of well done "How to" videos on YouTube if you need help. The preloaded devices usually cost more and you may eventually want a different build than the one that came with the preloaded device. If you do buy an Android box just be sure to also get a mini wireless keyboard. The controller that usually come with the boxes are pretty worthless.

Yeah, I've read about the controllers. Do you have an android box, if so which one?

i know what hardware specs I'd like to have but can't decide which box there are so many and they have different functionalities

FYI Fire TV has an iPhone app that lets you use the phone texting keyboard for entering text.
