Official ** KODI ** streaming thread (tips, help, add ons, etc) (2 Viewers)

So I hooked up the Fire TV on Friday, then installed "The Beast" build to see what it looked like. I wasn't impressed at all with its GUI, and the results were just ok, so I'll be deleting it and going with the Titanium one referenced by Matttyl and CGR, as they look a heck of a lot better, GUI wise. A couple of questions:

-Each build has its own major sections (Movies, TV Shows, etc.), but so do the different addons that are in the build. Can I just pick "Movies" from the main section, or should I go into something like Elysium and pick "Movies" from there?

-A lot of the stuff I'm picking pulls up the links, but then tells me something like "go to this website and type in xxx.xxxxxx/pair" to start watching the movie. Is this necessary, and will I have to do that every time I want to pick something?

-When I was watching stuff on the Beast build the other night (I was checking lots of different shows & movies to see how they streamed), I found that whatever I was playing would stop and go back out to the main screen a LOT, meaning I'd have to go through the steps of searching for the feeds again, hitting play, etc. Is this normal?

@joker - regarding #2 & 3, get yourself a RealDebrid account, and all that pairing BS/dropping disappears ... not to mention incredible HD streams at your disposal.

costs roughly $3 per month, best investment one can make in the Kodi game.

somebody talk to me about this real debrid account?  how does that work?  do i just sign up for an account, and how do i use kodi with it?

currently, i use exodus......find movie.......hope it loads.

firestick, wifi......that is it.  nothing fancy, do i need more?

Buy here: https://real-debrid.com/

Install here: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-configure-real-debrid-in-kodi/

Done. May occasionally need to re-authorize the account if Real Derbrid links stop showing up.
I guess I had missed the memo on Real Debrid. Going to look into this. Thanks, fellas.

Does this just add more (and more reliable) links to the search results of your add-ons (let's just say Exodus, for example), or does it just "help" the existing links that show up already?

Adds more links.... more reliable... more HD options.... just eliminates a lot of the little dead link, pairing, etc headaches

lemme frame it as such ...

when i allowed my RD acct to expire, i perused some stuff i normally watch, to make a compare/contrast note to myself.

let's take 'Game of Thrones', e.g.

without RealDeb?  tons of SD (480) feeds in 2.0 sound ... and that was with the (now defunct) GVideo scrapes.

with the RD acct?  i get upwards to thirty 1080p, 5.1 sound feeds to go through ... it's literally night and day -once it's activated you see this venue in a whole new light - folks going without it have no idea what they're missing.

bottom line ... it gIves you cracks at the best scrapes available - the feeds you're reduced to now will become virtually nonexistent.

I'll provide a devil's advocate response to @otb_lifer.

To start off...he isn't wrong. I want to make that clear that I am not disagreeing with his analysis and what he's reporting.

That said I'm not an advocate of RB. Two reasons.

1) He mentioned that with GOT without RB he sees "tons of SD (480) feeds in 2.0 sound." I have had that happen but it's an anomaly IMO.  I've never seen 5.1 BUT I almost ALWAYS have at least one, if not three, HD 2.0 options. HD 2.0 is good enough for me especially when it's like 90% of the time. NOTE: I use Covenant. If using Exodus the quality links is going downhill and it is true that it's SD more often than not.

2) Where does my $ for RD go? Don't like that it seems to be some kind of black hole and that I might be funding illegal activities.

#2 is up for debate and is strictly my personal option. No facts to back it up. From my perspective however #2 is really moot as I can almost always get a HD signal.

Has anyone done a comparison between paying and not paying? I signed up for Read Debrid but haven't paid anything. I'm still having problems with my box so I'm constantly changing setups but I can still pull RD links most of the time without forking over any cash yet.

@Buzzbait- valid enough Devil's advocate and all ... to each their own.

speaking to point #1, i maybe caught a stray 540, but never a 1080. what can i say, that's my personal experience.

the way i see it, i can enjoy these feeds (especially GoT) in glorious HD/Sound ... especially with that show, and it's lush production/score - it's a no-brainer, and, that's not even mentioning the films which also return as such ... for a freakin' dime a day? hell yes.

as for point #2, the whole KODI enterprise is a black hole ... no worries on that count for me.  many of these Devs/addons are reaping benefits we don't even know about.

scrap the whole thing, or go in head first.  it be what it be

Interesting. So you signed up for RD, and installed according to the link Icon provided, but just using the basic free RD subscription?

RD has 'free hours' - but, be advised, they rarely (to my knowledge) fall into the USofA wheelhouse of prime telly time (RD is France based).

Real Debrid is especially good with the older stuff.   I mentioned the other day when they were down that I was watching the office season 5.    Not sure how you do this without an RD account.   All they had was terrible SD.

 Covenant has 3-4 720p feeds for every episode of GOT I spot checked including last night's episode. Elysium only has 1, but, it's from your not so defunct gvideo.

720 is not 1080 ... HD, sure, but, not the cream of the scrapes.

if you guys are pulling HDs without RD, that's great.  thing is, without RD you have to hope to score a good one ... with RD you know you're gonna.  and, as stated earlier, i'll take my 1080, 5.1 - tyvm

as i said, matter of personal preference, nothing more.  all i know is i've been without it for a spell, and i'd never go back to scraping sans the RD.  it simply elevates the whole endeavor to it's apex.

as far as GVideo ... they come and go, and come and go, etc - haven't seen it for awhile, possibly because RD doesn't scrape 'em

I installed Real Debrid and it's absolutely a game changer like others have mentioned in here. Now all the links I'm finding are great ones, so this will make my skeptical wife very happy.

Yup... and if you're in it for sports (or live TV), a IPTV subscription is the same sort of deal.

I got a TV for my yard and wanted to watch the occasional game.

I don't wanna run a cable box to it.

Would a Kodi stick work?

It's a smartTV and I can connect wirelessly

go on....
What do you want to know?  A lot of people here seem to like Smoothstreams for sports.  I just anted up for a month of it ($17) last weekend to make sure I could get the last UFC and the sideshow on 8-26 without hassle, but I'm not a fan so far.  Seems to lock up a lot for me when trying to switch streams.  I get Fab TV for my GF and that works great. I should have gotten the combined package (sports and entertainment) when I reupped recently.  Check out the IPTV subreddit for tons of info.  There are dozens of providers.

Just popping in to quickly follow along.  I recently ditched DTV and have been experimenting with Kodi and its add-ons.  Covenant + Real-Debrid has been fantastic.  Preacher and Game of Thrones look amazing.

I'm curious how most watch the Red Zone channel once the season gets started, but I might be able to stream it through the NFL app on Verizon.

Looking forward to the updates in this thread!

 Not hopping for anything, what I said was fact; I have no problems getting at least 720p.  I get it its a personal choice and to you it's better, it's just that you're overstating it, see bold.

And if there is something I just have to watch in 1080 SS I just push a button for torrent or Usenet.  My personal choice to not support pay for pirate.

On kodi it will be hit and miss and often not in HD.  There are several ways to pay for it cheap. Most of the streaming services have it, sling/vue etc. You can get the full ticket (including red zone and nfl network) by vpn'ing your ip outside of north America and buying from nfl.com at a fraction of dtv cost. Or you can get a .edu email address and get the full ticket (minus in market games) student price for $99. I called my alma mater and asked for and got a .edu address.

I need to brush up on IPTV...is it pretty much a bunch of streams of live channels? How about locals (NBC CBS ABC FOX)? Onscreen guides?

You can, I think it's a $2m in app buy-up.  You'd only be able to watch it on your phone, though - I'm not sure there is any way to get it onto a TV or even computer.  I've got a thread going on in the Shark Pool about legal ways to watch the NFL this coming season if you're interested.

I think they are cracking down on this a bit (couldn't get a family member's .edu address to work earlier this week, and they were attending that school 2 years ago).  Another family member will be attending that very same school this coming fall, already has a .edu address, and even it wouldn't work.  You may need to upload some official document this year showing you're a current student.

I've got a Galaxy S7 and a Samsung Smart TV, so I *think* I can cast from the phone to the TV.  I need to test that this week with the app I guess...

I strongly recommend seeing this in an IMAX 70mm.
I strongly prefer to watch it in my underwear with a beer in my basement on my 112" screen and Atmos surround...I'll probably wait for Blu Ray at this point as even if it's on Kodi, the sound will be sub-par.

:P

Seriously though, I completely believe you, but I've got two really young kids, and my wife isn't into war movies...odds of me finding time to sneak out to see it in a theater, much less the nearest IMAX, are slim to none.

I'm in a similar boat, hoping to make it an evening with my dad who would enjoy the movie - but the odds of the two of us finding a night that works is slim to none.

Also, how are you liking the Atmos?  Are your atmos speakers in the ceiling, or floor models that send to the sound up?

Mine has local networks from NYC. Yeah, it's like a few hundred live streams. Plus all the sports packages... NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. Lots of soccer as mine is euro-based.

They have a companion channel list that loads into Kodi. An m3u playlist. You point kodi toward its url, and you get a new menu option on the kodi screen labeled 'TV'. When you go into that you get a few options for onscreen guides. You can do the traditional grid, or, dive into subcategories like US Entertainment or UK News or NFL and see just a list of those channels current programs. It's possible to set up a DVR to record future feed programs.

My IPTV also has an On-Demand with several seasons of popular shows, the big names on Netflix, Game of Thrones, and several movies.

But, honestly, I just use it for sports and breaking news. All other stuff I'd rather torrent, TV shows and movies. I use DuckieTV to manage the TV shows and the torrent sites directly for movies. All the same sources, ultimately, and never a risk of buffering or other issues. I just wanted a basic IPTV to handle live events and sports as a supplemental thing to plug the gap in my setup, not provide everything.
Which service do you use?

Cost?

How is the picture/resolution on the live streams?

I was looking into an OTA antenna, but we're about 75 miles east of Nashville and I'm not sure if it's feasible to get those with an antenna.  I don't need the Nashville locals, but would like the ability to watch a live event if home.

TIA

whats the best add on for baseball at them moment?
I've had some solid streams with limited buffering through Made in Canada. Milwaukee might be too small of a market so it's usually the opponent's feed but it has been pretty solid.

It's on most builds. Currently running Wookie lite but can't remember any of the 20 that I've tried that didn't have it.

I have Kodi 17.1 and Titanium build installed. Everything quit working, probably awhile ago but we don't watch the firestick all that often really. Anyway, what do I need to do to get it all working again? A new Kodi has been released, so that's probably it. Is there an easy way to update that without having to delete everything and reinstalling?

Do any of you live in the NYC area, and have found a solution to getting MSG Network? My PS Vue + Kodi set-up is perfect except for not having MSG. I wont need it for a few more months, but once hockey season starts, I'm going to be scrambling.
