Mauer gets the blame because of the contract, but the real problem with the Twins has been getting absolutely nothing developed internally, which was their staple for years.Twins might be able to compete again quicker if they weren't throwing $200 mill. at guys that hit 9 or 10 HRs/season.Michael Brown said:1.02 Joe Mauer
Never bench an arm because he's going against one of your other arms. Obviously you can only get one win, but that's the only hindering factor. What do you guys do if 2 of your pitchers going against each other?
Scherzer vs Burnett............I've got to start them both, no?
What do I do with Weaver? He got to sit tonight, right?
You have to start both, I'd think. Though, throwing anyone out against DET is always scary, and especially a SP that feels hard to trust getting his first AL lineup of the year. What do you guys do if 2 of your pitchers going against each other? Yeah, and I'm probably going overboard ripping Mauer. It's not like there are a lot of guys who can get on base over 40% of the time.Mauer gets the blame because of the contract, but the real problem with the Twins has been getting absolutely nothing developed internally, which was their staple for years.Twins might be able to compete again quicker if they weren't throwing $200 mill. at guys that hit 9 or 10 HRs/season.Michael Brown said:1.02 Joe Mauer
Won't be starting Weaver tonight..... he's my #5 and I could really use the W'sNever bench an arm because he's going against one of your other arms. Obviously you can only get one win, but that's the only hindering factor. What do you guys do if 2 of your pitchers going against each other?

I wouldn't start Weaver, make him show he's back to his old self before rolling out there. Velo has been decreasing since 2011, as have been the K's, and his K:BB was lousy before he got hurt. That said, I didn't want anything to do with Weaver at his rate going into the year, so take that with a grain of salt.
In a H2H pts league, that's a valuable 10 points for me, I'm sitting one. But in a roto style if the matchup was good enough, I would leave them both in.What do you guys do if 2 of your pitchers going against each other? Are you suggesting that it's unusual for someone's ISO to jump from .136 to .231 to .408 in their late 20s? How dare you.Does Chris Davis bring his supplier with him when he picks up the MVP award?
Davis has always had mad power, no? Obviously he's not gonna hit 65 homers, but I he's got more befuddling stats than his power numbers.TobiasFunke said:Are you suggesting that it's unusual for someone's ISO to jump from .136 to .231 to .408 in their late 20s? Solid rotation but very nice depth. Best bullpen in baseball. Teams have to press to score early against them because if it gets to a bullpen battle forget about it. Lineup is weak but they're gritty and get timely hits. They may not make the playoffs but they have too much depth to fade this year IMOGood series, Cin/Pitt this weekend. You don't hear that too often. The pirates are a plucky team it seems, will they fade again? What's keeping them going, don't know much about them.
its a good thing they shut him down early last year with a chance to win the WSStrasburg just pulled after two.

Lol shuke I've said many times (in the Pirates thread) that the reds are a power house. By the way, the Pirates lose the first game of EVERY series. Anyways, my heart thinks the Bucs can take the division but my brain says that it's a 2 horse race between the reds and cards. Lets talk in 2 years......shuke said:fred_1_15301 said:Solid rotation but very nice depth. Best bullpen in baseball. Is he 50 yet?I seriously had no idea that Jason Giambi still played baseball.
funny thing is he interviewed for the Rockies managerial job last yearI seriously had no idea that Jason Giambi still played baseball.
I've seen pinatas get hit less.Matt Cain just sucks.
What happened to him? I'm shuked.Matt Cain just sucks.![]()

Because the bullpen gave up 4 runs. Heard a stat on the Reds broadcast last night that the Pirates bullpen had thrown over 40 more innings than the Reds pen so far this year. They won't be the best in baseball for long like that. Also not sure why you bolded that part when we both know the Pirates have the best bullpen in baseballLol shuke I've said many times (in the Pirates thread) that the reds are a power house. I think the Reds are the best team in baseball, they do almost everything right.Well the Reds are showing the Pirates who the big boys in the division are right now........
Probably nothing for the player, but the MLB will come out in support of its umpire, allowing umps like him to continue to shamelessly try to become the star attraction of ballgames.Yadier Molina tossed in the third inning for throwing down his helmet in frustration. Had nothing to do with the call and ejected immediately. Terrible decision that affected the game. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.
