What do you guys do if 2 of your pitchers going against each other?

Scherzer vs Burnett............I've got to start them both, no?

What do I do with Weaver? He got to sit tonight, right?

Never bench an arm because he's going against one of your other arms. Obviously you can only get one win, but that's the only hindering factor.

I wouldn't start Weaver, make him show he's back to his old self before rolling out there. Velo has been decreasing since 2011, as have been the K's, and his K:BB was lousy before he got hurt. That said, I didn't want anything to do with Weaver at his rate going into the year, so take that with a grain of salt.

You have to start both, I'd think. Though, throwing anyone out against DET is always scary, and especially a SP that feels hard to trust getting his first AL lineup of the year.

1.02 Joe Mauer
Twins might be able to compete again quicker if they weren't throwing $200 mill. at guys that hit 9 or 10 HRs/season.
Mauer gets the blame because of the contract, but the real problem with the Twins has been getting absolutely nothing developed internally, which was their staple for years.
Yeah, and I'm probably going overboard ripping Mauer. It's not like there are a lot of guys who can get on base over 40% of the time.

Won't be starting Weaver tonight..... he's my #5 and I could really use the W's

In a H2H pts league, that's a valuable 10 points for me, I'm sitting one. But in a roto style if the matchup was good enough, I would leave them both in.

Interesting note from telecast of Michael Wacha's major league debut: He was selected with a compensatory pick in the 2012 draft.... brought to them by the Albert Pujols signing.

Upton's going to need one or both of Schafer and Gattis to cool down. He'll have to wait another day for that to start.

Hope Schafer can keep getting on base like this. Braves desperately needed somebody to lock down the lead-off spot.

Good series, Cin/Pitt this weekend. You don't hear that too often. The pirates are a plucky team it seems, will they fade again? What's keeping them going, don't know much about them.

Solid rotation but very nice depth. Best bullpen in baseball. Teams have to press to score early against them because if it gets to a bullpen battle forget about it. Lineup is weak but they're gritty and get timely hits. They may not make the playoffs but they have too much depth to fade this year IMO

Miggy's numbers across the board are on pace to better his Triple Crown season of last year. Sick.

I hope everyone appreciates each and every one of his at-bats. We are watching an immortal of the game.

Thanks for the breakdown Fred. Every night I check the scoreboard and they're always winning. Pretty cool to see them relevant again, hope it lasts.

Lol shuke I've said many times (in the Pirates thread) that the reds are a power house. By the way, the Pirates lose the first game of EVERY series. Anyways, my heart thinks the Bucs can take the division but my brain says that it's a 2 horse race between the reds and cards. Lets talk in 2 years......

Also not sure why you bolded that part when we both know the Pirates have the best bullpen in baseball

Umps just blew a call in the Phillies game. Pick off move to 2nd, Segura drops it but it rolls under the runners stomach, Segura picks it up and the ump calls him out. Next pitch, double that would have tied the game.

Heard a stat on the Reds broadcast last night that the Pirates bullpen had thrown over 40 more innings than the Reds pen so far this year. They won't be the best in baseball for long like that.

Yadier Molina tossed in the third inning for throwing down his helmet in frustration. Had nothing to do with the call and ejected immediately. Terrible decision that affected the game. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Probably nothing for the player, but the MLB will come out in support of its umpire, allowing umps like him to continue to shamelessly try to become the star attraction of ballgames.

The end.
