Heard this on the radio today.

Before tonight, Adam Wainwright had never thrown a major league pitch to anyone other than Yadier Molina. Waino misses his battery mate tonight it seems.
This year, yes. Not for his career.

Jose Fernandez is incredible. 8 IP 3 H 0 ER 1 BB 14 Ks. This coming after an 8 IP 13K performance last week. Kid only just turned 21. If he was on a better team there would be whispers of Cy Young votes at this point. Rapidly becoming one of my favorite players, to the point where I am probably going to keep him over Goldschmidt and Stanton in a H2H points league.

The narrative has been beaten to death but baseball has an incredible talent influx now with Harper/Trout/Machado/Puig/Harvey/Fernandez and the list could go on.

You forgot Aaron Hicks.

Alex Rodriguez will be suspended Monday, likely through the end of the 2014 season, sources told "Outside the Lines" Saturday.

About 12 other players will also be suspended Monday, according to sources.

LA area baseball news:

-Dodgers have won 14 straight road games, most of any NL team since the 1957 Reds.

-Angels sign Dontrelle Willis to a minor league deal

Kershaw is a clear cut 1. Darvish, Felix probably make the next tier. Then there's Harvey, Stras, Verlander, Scherzer, Price, Wainwright. Its a tough sell to find a place for him inside the top 10, let alone the top 5.
id take him before strasburg, verlander, scherzer, and wainwright. Hes in the same tier as harvey and price
Cray

I prefer to build my pitching staff around vets, so someone else can take Fernandez early. Fun to watch, to be sure, but he can dazzle on someone else's team.

Howie Kendrick might not be playing baseball for a while.
???
Howie Kendrick left Monday's game against the Rangers with an apparent left knee injury.
Kendrick was hurt when he collided with right fielder Collin Cowgill on what turned out to be a two-run triple for Mitch Moreland. His knee appeared to be hyperextended and he had to be helped off the field. It certainly looked like a probable DL injury, but we'll have to see what the Angels say.

I'd put Fernandez solid Top 10. Two worries: lack of wins in Miami; and he still might not pitch 200+ innings next season.

But he's a beast. Top 5 would be something in 2014, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's there in 2015.

His offense is only going to get worse. Can't get wins if your team doesn't score.

What a ridiculous statement. There's so much young, unproven talent on this roster. You, nor anyone else, has any idea as to which way their offense is going to go.

I think the pending FA's on this team are

Pierre(.585 OPS)

Polanco (.610 OPS)

Kotchman (21 PAs this year)

Dobbs (.597 OPS)

Kearns (39 PAs this year)

Is that really going to impact the team negatively next year? Not only are these guys below replacement level, they are negative

WAR baseball players.

how is it gonna get worse? If anything it'll get better with stanton, yelich, marisnek, ozuna, diethrich all showing potential this year

Listed as day-to-day w/ hyper-extended knee

When you sell one of the best young hitters in the game for prospects, your offense generally tends to suffer.

Do you honestly think Stanton is with this club come next spring training?

I'd bet on it.

Seriously, I'll give you even money he's a Marlin on March 1, 2014.

The Marlins were 28 games under .500 on May 30. Today they are 24 games under.

Stanton being under control for 3 more years combined with 2+ months of above .500 baseball.....

I don't think Stanton getting moved is anywhere near a certainty.

Plus first year of arb is pretty cheap. And they can still get a ridiculous pile of elite prospects if they decide to move him after 2014, or even if they wait until the trade deadline in 2015, because Stanton is that good.

Now if dr parker happens to know something about him being scheduled for an offseason hip surgery.......

They'd be incredibly stupid to move him, but this is the Marlins we are talking about.

I can't believe they have two recent World Series titles, horrible.
