the 12th Man
Can we all agree you guys stole this #### from A&M By the way? You can't build your identity around something you ripped off from another team, folks...
I'm pretty sure Bud Bundy kissed his biceps on Married With Children.
Equally gay, though I don't think the Niners are riding that quite as hard from a marketing perspective.... The hawks seem to be trying to ingrain the entire identity of the franchise and fan base around this whole concept that's already been done for 50 years (and trademarked) by another team. Hence the lawsuit and Seahawks having to cut Checks to A&M to rent it.
I know your just trying to poke the hornets nest, but if you are going to approach this from a marketing perspective, why the hell would you not run with this as a franchise. Frenzied fans = $$$
Becuase this is roughly the equivalent of the 459,000 lame knockoffs of the milk campaign.... "Got _______?" shows a profound lack of creativity. So does trying to steal (and then paying royalties) for the "12 Man".

I mean, SURELY Seattle's collective creative juices didn't all run down the drain when Cobain made himself a lead smoothie? Amirite?

Is this really the best you guys can do?
If it wasn't clear, I see through your poorly constructed act. As do most folks here I'd presume. You really aren't worth the time if you're going do this ####.

He's not getting fish. He is getting beer cans thrown at the back of his head by the other guys in the boat for using bad bait. It's cute, but not effective. I have hope it turns around though.
Commenting on it just adds more to the fishing trip.

back on point,to the topic, it's hard to imagine Sea winning this game..they've looked somewhat sluggish offensively last few weeks of the season, and we haven't seen Wilson make a big play in a big spot yet..well unless you count last week's jump ball pass to end the Saints season..I just wonder if Wilson will fold like a cheap suit if things don't go well for him. Admittedly, I haven't seen much of Sea, being that I'm in NJ and we don't usually get their games on TV..but he seems to throw lollipop passes, I've never seen a deep ball pass go so straight up..he's effective with it , but...Seattle didnt look overly impressive against the Saints, they did enough to get by and held on late..but SF is playing lights out right now, they are THE hottest team remaining, hitting full stride, playing their best ball, at the right time..After watching the Saints run so successfully against Sea, I'd expect Gore to play a huge role in this game..

Niners have the look of the 2007 , 2011 Giants to them right now..Somehow,you get the feeling Sf will be tied with,or leading Seattle with about 8 minutes to go, with a chance to put together a long, time killing drive to seal the game..

Sf wins 24-14

I hope for your sake you don't live in Seattle. It isn't just working, it's massively successful. You can't go into a bank or a grocery store without seeing someone wearing a 12 jersey or hearing "Go Hawks!" (is that phrase equally jolly?). He'll, every Starbucks runs a 12 cent coffee promo on Blue Friday.Great job by this franchise. As a Cowboys fan I'm envious.
Makes sense if you have ever been to Seattle or know folks from there.

ive been to seattle, it's a pretty depressing town but I liked seeing the guys throw the fish I guess. I also had the best hot dog of my life there.

If you can string 3 pages out of it, it's effective.

Unpossible on the dog. Where was this?Oh, and come back sometime when the sun is shining. It's gorgeous in the Sound about 9 months out of the year.

I tend to discount what proninja says (see below)...he's not one of our most knowledgeable. Had you not quoted him I wouldn't have seen his post since he's on the "ignore" list.

Can someone point me toward the Seahawk fans who are excited about this hire? I live here, kind of like football, have a lot of friends who do as well, and I can't find anybody who's "starry eyed" about hiring Carroll. I'd much rather the team hired a GM and let the GM hire a coach.

Is that from the "Rah Rah" thread? I posted how Carroll was a great hire in that one.

I don't get that feeling, but that's probably because I live in the market to see these games and watch both teams regularly. Wilson is the real deal, though he has struggled of late. If you haven't seen him make big plays in a big spot yet, I suggest you watch the 2012 playoffs. He was not as developed a signal caller last year but was huge on the road in the wild card and divisional rounds. Granted, he had more to throw to then, but his arm and accuracy are well above average. He has a gorgeous deep ball and can make all the throws. As to your prediction, I see it the opposite. The single greatest advantage either team has is Seattle in its secondary, and their defense has been playing better overall than the 49er offense. With the crowd noise and problems adjusting plays at the line I don't see Kaepernick doing enough to put up numbers on that defense. Gore was pretty well shut down in San Francisco last time as well, outside of that 51 yard run where the best safety in football took a terrible angle. Thomas should have stopped that run for a 10 yard gain. We'll see, but I'd be surprised if Kaepernick leads this team to a victory in Seattle. Perhaps if they win the turnover battle and get help with a defensive or special teams TD? Both seem unlikely though, given Seattle's special teams play a turnover differential.

I was thinking Seattle by double digits, but without Harvin maybe 8 points. This will be fun to watch.

ETA: missed the "fold like a cheap suit" bit. Do you guys really pay that little attention to west coast ball out there?

It was some japanese/hot dog hybrid place inside pike place. hot dog with sukiyaki and sesame and some other crap on it. You could probably barely even call it a hot dog, but whatever it was, it was freaking delicious.

Probably should have stated that first as its clear you havent as you read the rest of your post.

Ignoring that..... the niners have nothing in common with those Giant teams. Niners are on 8 game win streak. Came into the playoffs with a 6 game streak. When was the last time a team went onto a 10 game win streak to win the superbowl?

Never been, I'll have to try that out. Sounds interesting to say the least. I was thinking maybe you'd found the Issaquah Brewhouse about a half an hour outside of Seattle. They do some pretty damn good dogs and excellent beers (affiliated with Rogue Brewery down in Oregon). One of the better chili dogs I've had and they do their own sauerkraut (with a porter, I believe)... But not the best I've ever had.

Not that I'm done with work until Tues, I am so excited for Sunday!!! This thread is really 10 pages of nonsense such as that quote above. I find it easier to believe Sea wins over SF winning... Most difficult place for an away team to play in the NFL.

Who is going to the Super Bowl in here? I'm in if SF wins!!

You're a real solid poster... Tons of substance & humor. Clever HUCKS zinger there too, actually beyond clever, it's gold Jerry, gold! Outside of one rant on a bad day, I don't clog this place up with garbage like you do.

He won't ignore me because He knows I'm eventually going to go one one of those benders where I post a buncha stuff busting on him again this weekend.

LOL, I just never saw the dude in any 49er threads before this season. All of the sudden we have a new 49er fan here. I'd welcome him but he has me on ignore now, lol.

I'm not sure if I should be impressed you remembered that or just laughing that you dredged it up. I was wrong on that. Thank goodness, too.

Gamblers like the 49ers and the points, overwhelmingly at the moment.
I'm not a gambler anymore, but if I were, I'd be all over Seattle. For as well as SF is playing, they aren't finishing drives - 6 FGs and 4 TDs in the playoffs, and they couldn't even finish drives against GB's ####ty D - and good luck turning that around against the Seahawks defense in Seattle. Seattle has owned the #### out of the 49ers up there the last two years, and I'd bet on it happening every time until they prove otherwise.
This guy gets it. 49er FGs = a loss. I'm taking Seattle and the points all day.

The noise gives the undersized speed rushers the edge they need to disrupt the passing game. Mebane and Co. are underrated run stuffers. Wagner is an excellent young backer who gives us fits, not too far behind PW/Bow. Since he's come Gore's ownership of Seattle has ceased. The secondary rapes opposing receivers and seems to get away with it, as long as this continues nobody will beat them at home. Earl and Sherman are All-Pro's, such a great secondary. I'm hoping Boldin does what he did in Carolina when their DBs tried to get chippy the first quarter--man up. What worries me is that Kam seems to cancel VD, when on paper VD should be running away from him all day. I'd like to see Kap try and exploit this early before VD gets whipped.

It really does actually. I didn't like the bicep thing...but I could come around on this. It's time to bring back MWC.

Really? We went to Seattle for a family vacation last year. Loved it. One of the few cities in the country I could see myself living in outside of the Bay Area.

I actually came back to this thread just now to say the same thing. Now that work is done for the week it's REALLY hard to wait for Sunday, and it's only Friday night. As a football fan, this is about as good as it gets. I hope whoever wins doesn't overlook that whole other conference over there in the AFC.
