It's a Wii that is as powerful as a 360 or PS3, only you're paying $300. Both the 360 and PS3 can be had for < 1/2 that.
That and it comes with 1 cool controller that starts WW3 is your have more then 1 kid.

I'll give you the controller part, but unless I'm mistaken the PS3 and 360 can't play Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. That would be the reason to buy a Nintendo console.

They just released Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World. The new Mario Kart and Smash Bros is just around the corner. I do wish there was a Metroid game coming, though.

Wind Waker HD is nothing special. Mario 3D looks good and promising but to me, Mario Galaxy is where its at. Those two games were awesome... top 10 on all systems. Mario Kart and Smash should have been out ~6 months after launch. And, Metroid and other Nintendo staples should have been announced other than, "in the future." One can hope.

My only complaint with Wind Waker HD is that it's a remake of a game I've already played. One that removed quite a bit of the game too, according to several reviews. The original Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda game. (That's right!)
Also something that no one ever mentions about the Wii U is that it's the only next generation console that supports true 4K resolution. Both Xbox One and Playstation 4 missed the boat on that one, for some reason. So while people seem to give Wii U hell for playing catch up to the XBox 360 and Playstation 3, no one seems to grasp that in 5 years when UHD/4K TVs become huge, only one will fully support it. (Note: Sony says that Playstation 4 may support 4K games in the future, but it currently does not. It does support still images and movies in 4k.)
Double Note: I always like to double-check myself and make sure I'm correct on my info. Apparently Major Nelson has stated that the Xbox One does support 4K gaming (as well as movies and still images), but it's up to the developers to make that happen. This is practically in line with where Nintendo is with the Wii U. However, Nintendo has announced a couple of games that will have 4k support due out next year. Will they be the first to strike on that, I'm not sure, but it's not the one console show that I thought it was earlier.

Ok so we're getting a Wii U for the kids this Christmas. The bundle with Super Mario U and Super Luigi U.
You Wii owners, can you give me some ideas on the best games to get? Also, I believe this is backward compatible with regular Wii games - is that ALL Wii games?

All original Wii games should be compatible. If you already own a Wii, all of your existing Wiimotes and controllers should work there too. Saves a ton of money on having to buy new peripherals.

Yep my kids got the same one this morning. They love it. I like playing as a helper on Super Mario on the gamepad. This is a decent console. We'll be picking up some old wii games for it too.

I played alot of this with my nephews ages 5 and 7 the last 3 days. I was stuck at my in-laws and this let me play video games and bond get on her family's good side at the same time!wadegarrett said:

Many of the later levels were more challenging trying to give them the crown. I would have to set them up to get the green stars and stamps easily. Plus I would have to let them get all of the powerups as they are worth 1000 a piece.
This is the first really good game for the wii u. I hope they can make another one.

My daughter and I had so much fun with 3d world.we unlocked everything the only thing we have left to finish is the last secret world board. I won't spoil it. But it is impossible

Yes. ...single player? Make sure the Barrell is on dixie. At some point you can buy dixie barrels to equip....If you want a cheat. Start as 2 players pick dixie. Before you start a board...retire player 2. Dixie stays

when you approach the barrell. The color on the letters change. Dixie pink....Jr red.. and the old guy blue forget his name. You have to time it.

I might be punting on this game already.
I spent two hours trying to beat the first boss (giant seal) and I just can't do it. All the crap he throws at you gets me every time.
I just don't have the patience to beat hard levels of a game like I used to.
barrell rolls are your friend. That boss is nothing compared to what's coming

Yikes, had the DK game in the cart and took it out. I like my games like I like my women, colorful and easy (and sometimes with mustaches).
