Had the complete opposite. None of my friends or coworkers is really talking about it. Most are wondering when the Next AEW show is and there's a group of us planning on going to the Phily show later this month. NJPW announced a show at the old ECW arena that many of just heard about with some really great talent apparently showing up this time. I missed out but IMPACT at tapings at the old ECW arena in the last month FRI/SAT night and knew people who went both nights. Many were happy to see the return of ROH which was started in our city too. Those who did watch Mania came away unimpressed or asking WTF happened to WWE?
Then again most of my friends and I aren't WWE's target audience anymore. We grew up in the attitude era watched Monday Night Wars and attended the ECW shows with our dads. When we got older started getting our own money and transportation we'd go to CZW, CHIAKARA, CZW, ROH shows. Any show in the AC area along in Philly, Allentown, Delaware and NJ. Sometimes depending on the show go up to NYC. After Ruthless Aggression most of us were on and off WWE till Punk came around and then NXT. Started getting into NJPW during the original Bullet Club and went back and started watching old Japanese wrestling. Punk Left WWE was getting really boring and we did NXT. tried watching RAW/SDL when our favorites got called up and realized unless Vince liked them they had no shot. Besides the four horse women nobody was great other then The Sheild and Wyatt Family. We loved Danielson too. Saw many of our favorites become jokes like KO and Zayn, Nakamura become Funaki 2.O, We watched IMPACT for the Hardy Family stuff and excited for them in WWE only for Vince not to get it and stop that. Watched them destroy the Fiend.
Reigns is really the only good thing with WWE with the USOs and the only reason that happened was because Vince didn't take the Pandemic serious and Roman is high risk do to his previous leukemia. He threatened to quit and join Moxley in AEW as AEW would give him the heel persona he wanted and Vince wasn't budging. Vince finally caved in and you see the results now. And it only happened because Roman threatened to leave to join his best friend in AEW.
Most of my crew has moved on from WWE and anyone one in the crew that watches it religious anymore gets a good ribbing. Only coworker who really watches it is this one guy in his 5O's but he's too cheap the buy the PPV's nor would he know how to work the network. Always free loaded off of us which is how he watched any PPV for almost a decade.
