The professional wrestling industry is still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in Japan. Both New Japan Pro-Wrestling and STARDOM, which are owned by Bushiroad, have been hit hard financially and have had to navigate a tough road to recovery. As a result, both promotions have been under pressure to keep costs down, which has led to passing on some opportunities.
According to Dave Meltzer of
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one of those missed opportunities was Trinity Fatu, formerly known as Naomi in WWE. There was a chance for Fatu to join her former tag team partner Sasha Banks, now known as Mercedes Mone, in Japan. However, it appears that Bushiroad felt it would cost too much and ultimately passed on the deal.
