I have a feeling that HHH vs Roman Reigns is going to be similar to HHH vs Scott Steiner at No Way Out, in terms of crowd participation.  HHH tried everything he could to try to get heat from the crowd, but there was no cheering Scott.  Well, Roman won't be THAT bad, but I think it'll be similar.

 
I get that the hip thing is too poop on the Mania main event plans...but who are fans cheering FOR?

Ambrose? He got the Brock Lesnar match. That's bigger than the title.

Not buying it.  The show closing match is bigger than all.  Winning the title is bigger UNLESS Brock is jobbing which i don't see.  

Seeing tonight's reactions, they should  book Shane vs. Trips... 

Detroit is a passionate audience but no mark city.  

THATS the money match.  

Giving the Trips the belt has been a huge mistake.  The authority storyline sucks.  

They were so absorbed with chasing a moment that passed that no one really cares about once Roman won his first title. To have him win a belt at mania.  

Where if they built to a Reigns vs. Taker respect match or something like that, or even had Taker win at the Rumble for a last stand in Texas, that would be a much more appealing match.  Or at least you could understand Reigns being booed.  

As its turned how, to have the "cerebral assassin" as your defacto face.

At the end of the day, whats done is done, and there are still five more Raws until Mania.  It can be salvaged.

There have been rumblings that Paul Lesquque, the bodybuilder from New Hampshire, is not exactly impressing board members in terms of succession plans.  Shane may be more essential to them in shoot terms than we know.  He represents a credible successor with a track record

This was my thought as well.  If Shane'O doesn't get in the ring with Taker, he'll appoint his own "champion" who will end up being one or more of the Bullet Club members.  Would be interesting to see Balor come out in his demon gear with Gallows and Anderson at his side.

 
Breaking out Shane to start the show and tons of color to end the show. Well done Vince, well done. When the WWE has their back against the wall, they always do their best.

Now, WWE has a month to make HHH/Reigns become compelling enough to close out WM, or you go to plan B, you let Taker/Shane close out the show. What's more important than the WWE title? Control over the entire company. You bring down the cage. You have the Taker entrance, you have Shane selling like only Shane can sell. (I don't expect a ShaneBump, but he still has a way in the ring that some wrestlers can't master after years of training). You have Vince at ringside for Taker, you have Rock at ringside for Shane. HHH and Stephanie come down to save what is theirs. A McMahon cluster#### that ends with Shane getting the pin, celebrating owning the company and an entire stadium chanting "Thank You Taker".

 
That was a lot of fun.  The return of Shane O Mac was a complete shock and exactly what they needed.  I have no clue what they're going to do in the next 6 weeks with the various storylines, but I can't wait to find out.

I have no idea how much or if any of that is true, but for the sake of the story, let's go with it! 

I wonder how the Undertaker will feel about being a pawn in their little family feud.

Will he be cast as the heel?  A bought and paid for corporate stooge?  It's been done before I guess. The Corporate Ministry storyline from 1999.  I happen to be watching that era right now on the WWE Network. Loved the incarnation of the Undertaker.  Hanging people on the Undertaker cross and looking like Satan.  Boy did Stephanie look different back then. 

 
Hope Shane-Taker doesn't actually happen. Does nothing for me. 

I assume the the new plan to get Roman cheered is to sit him out the next few weeks and then hope for a cheap return pop?  Pathetic.

More than one wrestling fan I've talked to says HHH is their favorite wrestler of all time.

I'd say a good mixture of both.  I was a big fan of the DX days and still enjoy it when HBK and HHH get together just to talk.  Fun times.  As a wrestler/performer, HHH has always been a fan favorite - whether heel or face.  He brings it like very few can today.  His feuds with Rocky back in the day were great!  With that said, I think there are a lot of fans like me who see HHH in the ring and are taken back to the "glory days" of the Attitude Era.  No one on the roster is close to what used to be (New Day and the Wyatts are close).

Reigns just isn't believeable/likable IMO.  He can't use the mic and he's not that entertaining in the ring.  The creative team puts him with Ambrose because Ambrose can bring excitement in the ring.  He's "unhinged" and at times appears to be spontaneous even though he uses the same moves over and over.  But he's a better performer than Reigns.  Roman is more the "muscle" of a group. He's can be silently intimidating and beat up people with his spear and punch.  But that's it.  He doesn't bring the excitement that you would expect from the "Champion".  HHH does, even in his "old age".

 
If they knew Shane was coming back, how could they not make it Shane/HHH for control of the company at WM.  That's bigger than the belt.  They should've figured a way to let Lesner and Ambrose battle for the title.

Yeah, I assume there's more coming here than just a 1 on 1 cage match.  Shane wouldn't be a credible opponent on his own.  I assume maybe Sting comes out from under the ring or Cena champions for him, or something. 

 
I feel bad for Reigns but at some point don't you just snap and say "I'm sick of getting booed as a baby face, just please turn me already!".

You have to finish the Reigns/HHH story arc, for better or worse.

I bet a lap dance from Stacy Keibler that you will have Shane/HHH for control of the company by SummerSlam.

I know it's a minor point - but Shane agreed to a match without knowing the opponent or stipulations.  Which is ridiculous but it's not the first time this has happened in wrestling.  Just once I'd like the mystery opponent to be a grizzly bear.

Yep....

.....when the segment involves Vince/Steph/HHH/Shane. Vince can drop F bomb.....no one else on roster can. Reigns can get color........when it puts HHH over.

Just sayin'. If others are allowed to do the same & this extends beyond Mania, great for the product. But we've seen this time and again over the last many years. McMahon family plays by one set of rules......everyone else by another.

I mean can you imagine any other talent saying what Shane said about the ratings last night? :lmao:

And there is video of Reigns selling "post-op" surgery.  Most fans don't care about the interwebz stuff.  If it isn't shown on TV; they don't care.

 
A lot of speculation about Kota Ibushi not re-signing (if he ever did have a contract) with NJPW.  He is supposedly starting his own group but buzz is he wants to be free for the Cruiser Tourney in NXT.  If he is fully healthy coming off his injury, look out.  Ibushi was primed to be the breakout star last year.  His match with Nakamura at WK9 was f'n awesome and he can get four snowflakes plus as much as anyone.

 
Apparently, a Rockstar Spud ( :lmao:  ) turned on EC3 last night based on Reby Sky's instagram post last night. Is that dude like Hornswoggle's richer cousin or something. Also Instagram related, Angelina Love is like 36 weeks pregnant.

Nice to see Maria  :wub: not really come to the aid of Gail Kim and Velvet Sky. Not that I expected her to, but it was nice to see her in her ring attire.

And, they FINALLY found someone to hold Matt Hardy's son while they cut a promo on EC3.

They needed something to create a buzz.  Short of CM Punk returning there wasn't anyone out there who could make a bigger impact.   Storytelling is key the next 5 1/2 weeks.  They'll need to explain why the Undertaker would come out of seclusion to help Vince McMahon.  Hopefully something better than he's contractually obligated.  What tricks might Shane have up his sleeve to avoid getting squashed like a grape?  He seemed oddly confident for a guy who was just told he's entering the cell with the Undertaker.  The WWE creative team can answer their critics with some good storytelling heading into WrestleMania.

I'm willing to give the WWE the benefit of the doubt on this one...until I see what develops. Who knows, IMO Shane may have something up his sleeve. :shrug:

I like how Shane'O said it wasn't his "first deal with the devil".  What if he already has a deal struck with the Wyatt's to ensure a win at WM?  Or if he struck a deal with UT knowing Vince would create this match and pull his favorite WM wrestler into the fold.  Shane could be acting 2 steps ahead of Vince and we could see a nice Diggstown-esque double cross come WM!  The possibilities!!!

This is also what I was thinking... it seems like they're deliberately dragging their feet on the Wyatts so I'd hope they're doing it for a reason.  It seemed like they were about to get a mega push a few months ago so the Kane/Show/Ryback nonsense is probably just a smoke screen.

On a side note I would LOVE to see the Wyatts get a run as the anti corporation group

Jim Ross has been saying for a long time that Bray should be a "character babyface".  They seem to be spinning their wheels as heels, so why not? 

 
Nothing against Reigns, but Bray vs. HHH would be so much more interesting. You can keep his character w/o making him the Mickey Mouse babyface type. How long has this been said, but Reigns needs to be heel and it'll help him long term IMO. The guy oozes arrogance through his look and mannerisms. No matter how many times they have him come through the crowd,.....it isn't working and the people aren't going to get behind him right now. 

Of all the full time guys in WWE right now, Wyatt is the guy with the potential to get the product out of rated G hell........ for the long term   (And not just when HHH/Steph/Vince appear on cam to put themselves over with Attitude Era-like promos. Additionally, I'm not sure how long Erick Rowan is for the company (or the Wyatt family as a unit is together)

I think that's a lot of the problem right there. Even back to Hogan, WWE seems to want to make their faces this caricature of sorts that you really can't buy into. Bray would work much better as an anti-hero along the same lines as Austin. Do his own thing, break rules when convenient and generally giving no craps at all times. Heck, he's pretty much 90% of the way there now.

I know you weren't talking about Reigns, but given his look and some of the things he's broken kayfabe to say about himself and other wrestlers, he'd work so much better as a heel.

They already have that Austin type baby face and actually set up the perfect Wrestlemania redemption story for him, but they're too stupid to see it. Guys name is Dean Ambrose.

I guess because I hear Michael Cole scream LUNATIC FRINGE! 880 times during one of his matches, I can't see him as the Austin anti-hero. He's more of a straight up good guy to me. YMMV.

I get that. That could've very easily steered him toward the anti establishment nut job but went further to the lunatic/asylum crap. It wouldn't be difficult to change that up a little if they wanted to push him to the top.
