Watched the Long Beach Show last night. Couple quick thoughts:

-Young Bucks vs Golden Lovers is possibly my favorite tag match of all time. Maybe I'm biased as a BTE viewer, but there was more story just from Omega's body language than there is from 100 promos for most people. Matt Jackson was the star of the match, his selling was so good, that my back was starting to hurt. Young Bucks are the greatest tag team in history. Not because of that match, just because they are literally never not great, and are constantly reinventing themselves.

-Sabre/Suzuki is a fun team. Really looking forward to the IWGP title match next week.

-Does Hangman Page owe Jay White money or something? White probably came centimeters away from killing him at least 3 times. White clearly has potential, but man, he's about as sloppy as it gets.

-Will Ospreay is becoming a really good seller. If he figures out submissions he's gonna end up being a more athletic AJ Styles.

-J.R./Barnett is such a downgrade from Kelly/Callis on the announce team.

Vader undergoes heart surgery

Former World Heavyweight Champion Vader underwent open heart surgery today in Dallas, Texas and according to his son Jesse on Twitter, the operation was a success, but at the same time, worse than expected and that he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. WWE posted the following on The Mastodon's operation and wished him well:

Vader undergoes successful open-heart surgery

WWE Legend Vader underwent successful open-heart surgery earlier today, as confirmed by his son Jesse via Twitter.

“The surgery was a success but it was worse than we had expected. Long road for recovery,” Jesse wrote. “Will keep you posted. Thank you for the prayers.”

Join WWE in wishing Vader all the best during his recovery.

The John Cena stuff with the UnderTaker is so boring and stupid, bordering on unwatchable
They're really going to put this thing together with 1 week of on screen prep for Taker. How do these writers have jobs? It's so bad. Like Cornette says, just some college kids writing wrestling (which they know nothing about), so they can get a credit and go to Hollywood.

Also, this may seem minor, but I have zero doubt it's on purpose. Look at WWEs page on YouTube and if you look at all the recap clips from RAW last night, you'll notice the longest one just happens to be the one with HHH and Steph. Interesting...

Road Dogg inducting Jeff Jarrett. Hopefully he's better at that than writing.

I don't know how anyone can buy Cena's act towards Taker given his character the past 10+ years. I hope he can call Taker a coward a few more times for whatever reason he's doing.  And make funny faces. Bipolar character like Stephanie McMahon. What he's doing isn't heel when they'll just completely forget it the night after Raw. Cena at this point is Hogan circa 1994. There's just nothing for him in his current form. Cena-Taker is just completely meaningless at this point. It's amazing Cena/Orton are both younger than AJ Styles and Bobby Roode.

WWE has perfected the hand-wave of modifying/erasing history as it suits them.

I really don't see the endgame on Cena-Taker. Seriously, if Taker's not coming to WM, why do it? The fact that it's been so long with no response back makes me wonder how you can sell a match that you're kayfabe not sure is going to happen. There's plenty there at WM to sell, why have two gimped up wrestlers hobbling around in a match that will end up being a botch-fest? There's no juice to squeeze from that orange.

Steph needs to find medicine that works; whatever she's taking is not helping. What's particularly cringey is when she tries to growl and sound tough like her dad does. Plus, she's slapping and trying to intimidate an MMA fighter? :lmao: Sorry, WWE, I'm not buying what you're selling here. The fact that Rousey hasn't smacked her back - notice she put Trips through a table but not Steph - leads me to call :bs: No amount of videos of midnight workouts and self-fluffing videos putting herself over doesn't make her a credible threat to Rousey.

I think I've been best served by not watching for several years. I really enjoy the Cena build up, two weeks ago was great. This week just ok but still above average imo.

In other news, 205 Live has turned into a really good show.

This is an interesting Deadspin article: Louisiana's commission rules ban piledrivers and other moves. While this doesn't affect WWE or RoH, many of the indies could see their shows come off differently with some moves banned.

1. All variations of the Pile Driver;

2. All variations of the Power Bomb;

3. The “Moonsault”, “Shooting Star”, or “450 Splash” or any variation thereof which involves one wrestler, leaping or flipping off the ropes or turnbuckles to contact the head or neck of the opponent with any part of his body;

4. The “Stungun” of any variation thereof which results in the one fighter’s head or neck being dragged, draped or “closelined” [sic] across the ropes;

5. The striking of a wrestler’s head with any object, chair, trashcan [sic] lid, etc., and

6. No wrestler shall throw, push, shove or force another out of the ring or over the top rope.

Well hopefully LA never sees another wrestling show again. Doubtful since WWE does wrestlemanias at the Superdome. A lot of that stuff is the very core of wrestling. Like #6. Wtf. Powerbombs aren't dangerous except for sandbaggers like Bob Holly, who usually harm themself.

Agree there's no endgame with Cena-Taker. The match will happen IMO. I think the best way to do it is not having him appear til Mania (but most likely to get at least the sign of him appearing at Mania this Monday in whatever form). That's probably the only intrigue at all with it (when he'll appear and in what form). I can't see why anyone would want to see the actual match or result. Not to mention Taker's coming off hip replacement (and he looked completely done last year). It was sad to watch really.

Forgot to add..

Just how bad will a confrontation with Rousey/McMahon look at Mania? People think Reigns/Lesnar shouldn't go last (as Reigns won't get cheered). Can you imagine this Stephanie/Rousey cluster going last? :lmao: Rousey looks woefully woefully unprepared in the ring. And not just talking about her acting. Add to that her first match is against a non-wrestler that's been in the ring, what, maybe 2-3 times in 15 years? If you need a laugh (aired only for live audience a week or two ago), https://youtu.be/9MdmHb5r4NM?t=202

Baby girl...

Cena in the ring.
Lights out.
A hooded figure appears.
Lights up.
Spinning heel kick knocks Cena out.
Root of All Evil plays.

The only way I see the Cena-undertaker match making sense is if taker wins and it sets up a storyline of Cena being washed up over the next year.  Then of course at some point Cena makes a comeback because that’s what he does.

The money feud would be Cena vs Matt Hardy.  Not sure why they can’t see that.

Vince either:

1. Brings out Kane, but dressed as Fake Razor Ramon, or

2. Has the guy with the “I gotta feed my kids” gimmick (Ziggler?) come out and say my kids need new shoes and I can only afford it if I wrestle you at WM.

The smart play is to have whatever Daniel Bryan is doing be the main event. He's the one people want to see the most.

Alternatively, Styles/Nakamura would be a good choice as well, as it will almost certainly be the best actual match.

I fully expect Rousey to go last(and it makes more sense than Lesnar/Reigns) since its the thing the media cares the most about.

Also, ya know, Steph gets off to the thought of herself main eventing Mania.

Why??

ME / final match should be Charlotte vs Asuka.  Seriously
I also agree with this. It would be a great cap to all of the women's breakthroughs this year. It's also a match that really feels like it could go either way. Only thing missing is heat...face vs face doesn't give the rush of vanquishing a hated rival.

Caught up on NXT last night, banged out about 4 episodes. Really like what they are doing with Adam Cole (bay bay), Fish and O'Reilly. The opening EC3 promo was pretty freakin' good. Ricochet is going to be spectacular and Gargano/Ciampa might be the most entertaining match of WM weekend.

NXT continues to be my favorite promotion right now.

First, apparently Disco Inferno still lives. Second, he felt the need to add his :2cents:  to a tweet about Cody Rhodes suffering a cut from a kick by Kenny Omega. He said this.  Then Konnan criticizes him before Cody then lit him up.

So go home RAW tonight!! This needs to be a good show and not just a bunch of talking between commercials. Looking at the WM card--I still get the feeling at least one of these matches isn't going to happen due to someone getting mysteriously "attacked" backstage and the match is called off. The length of this proposed card looks to be 7 hours long--how are they going to do that without some shortcuts like this.

Screw that, we all know The Big Dog is going to main event.

I went back and watched Brock vs Reigns from Mania 31. It's one of my favorite matches of all time, and I think one could argue it is the best Mania main event of all time. There is no wasted time or motion...Reigns goes full Tyler Durden during the beat down and then is full of fire during his comeback. Then they top it off with a shocking climax. Really awesome stuff.

Yeah, the Rollins cash in was awesome. It’s a shame he got injured.

Wanted to watch RAW last night....turned it on and they led with Stephanie for 30 minutes.  Can't support that.

Vince as the foil during the Attitude Era was pretty revolutionary.  Stephanie and Trips as it now is about as fresh as a Foghat concert.

Agree about the whole Stephanie/HHH thing.  Shane is one thing, but why does Stephanie feel the need to headline herself into any PPV match?  She doesn't pull it off well at all.  Just a waste of 20 minutes, the whole thing.  Kurt looks like every step he takes is painful, why the need for him and HHH to fight?  Who really wants to see that match?

And holy crap, Rousey is a lousy actress.  Lousy Rousey should be her ring name.  Baddest woman on the planet?   :lmao:   That turnip has been out of juice for years.  That "throw through the table" was pitiful.  And HHH standing there letting Rousey grab his throat so Stephanie can get in position was just sad.  I bet he cringes at production meetings.  Like he's going to sell getting choke slammed by R. Rousey.   :rolleyes:

On the other hand, Alexa Bliss is still the greatest.

The only thing I can say in support of Rousey is...at least they aren't going to put her over current roster talent. This mixed tag need to turn into a cluster as fast as possible because the match will be trash. I assume it will build around a few choice photo ops and go home as quick as possible.
