It was outstanding. WWE is in trouble. Highly recommend.
They've got money in different shoeboxes for years and years with the Saudi and NBC deals.

I hate to play the comparison game because AEW is just doing its own thing. TK isn't looking to run up against the mothership (yet?!). But damned if it doesn't feel like the start of something special for the company.

They have the opportunity to make Hangman Page a superstar if he returns amid the fever pitch of Danielson and CM Punk hype.

Hangman Page, Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, MJF, Ricky Starks, Will Hobbs, Dante Martin

Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, Jade Cargill, Hikaru Shida, Ruby Soho

Lucha Bros, FTR, Santana & Ortiz, Private Party, Varsity Blondes

Look at the future you could build... and then consider WTF the top of the card looks like now in the men's division:

The Elite, Punk, Danielson, Moxley, Miro, Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Cody, Malakai Black, Andrade, Pac

Just hook it into my veins.

Somewhere, Craig is composing his next anti-“A&W” post.

Only wrestling podcast I regularly listen to is We Watch Wrestling. They close every issue by asking, "Who's your favorite wrestler?"

Tough decision this week, but I think I give it to Penta. He was the heart and soul of the best match on the PPV.

I am eagerly awaiting people's response to this PPV. I didn't order it, but have been watching replays here and there. That crowd had to worn out by the end of the night.
You can still buy it and watch the replay.  had a fantasy draft I didn't know was in person that night till Friday. I watched Punk up to Omega before passing out only to wake up to see the big reveal at the end of the show. I'm going back after my draft tonight and watching from the beginning

I read it was legit travel issues for PAC.  Maybe he went home and couldn't get back and quarantine in time?  Could easily be worked into the story with Andrade.screwing with them.

UK has new Pandemic travel guidelines. I think PAC should think about renting a place in Jacksonville and staying there for awhile till all of this settles.

I have watched the majority of it through various avenues. I will give AEW my money next time around because this PPV delivered beyond all expectations. Such a great show from top to bottom. Now their creative has been given a treasure trove of pieces---write the stories because that is what hampered WWE for many, many years now.

Asking sincerely, because I am not aware: WHO is AEW's creative?  Feels like that has been WWE downfall in the last several years.  Some great characters, but the only wins (it seems, with very intermittent viewing) have been Bron, Fiend, and VERY MUCH heel Roman.  I'm guessing heel Roman has been Paul E, but they lost/ejected the other two.  From comments in here I've gathered HHH/HBK booked very well, but the big leagues have been terrible.

So...who is booking AEW?  Cody?  Dustin?  Jericho?  A combo?  People I've never heard of?

I can even tell you his favorite promotions to model! :)

Continental Wrestling from Memphis and Mid South Wrestling are the two heaviest influences on Tony Khan's booking.

If you watch 83-84 Mid South, it is shocking some of the parallels.
If you want anyone to book a promotion, Tony is the guy.  Guys have been blown away by his seemingly encyclopedic knowledge or wrestling.  It does not surprise me that he reaches somewhere like Mid-South for his inspirations.  A lot of the territories had good ideas.

Vince is only concerned if he's entertained by what he books.  Tony has the fans in mind.  Guess which one will draw more viewers?

Vince reportedly absent from Monday Night Raw. Apparently hearing about Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole bolting was too much for him.

Guy really needs to either pass the company along to Shane/HHH or sell. And probably should have happened a few years ago. Think he's spent so many years consumed with wrestling, he's developed no hobbies and has no idea how he'd occupy his time. Traveling city to city every week has to be rough....no matter the accommodations0000000000. I have no idea how anyone sits through Raw. Outside of Roman, there's nothing I've read or clip seen that's remotely interesting recently. I mean clip of Edge with Brood theme was cool to watch. Just so far and few between with the hours and hours and hours of programming they have.

Was out of pocket during the PPV this weekend, but took the time to watch the WhatCulture and Cultaholic recap videos, saw highlights on twitter and even though I know all the surprises and all of the results, FITE TV is going to get my 50 bucks tonight to watch everything.

There is nothing WWE is doing right now that would make me pay money to see things that I already know.

While most really rich guys want to fly to space, or change how people shop, or rule the world, I love how Tony Khan just wants to fantasy book in real life. He truly loves the business and especially the history. The guy probably tape traded before it was cool, probably posted on r/wrestling before any of us, and no doubt was sitting at PWG before it was hot. He's living his best wrestling fan's life.

Biggest challenge for AEW now is, how do you share the ball, make sure you don't blow your load early, and keep everyone on the roster (and your fans) happy. I think it showed a lot that they didn't need to end the show with Punk/Darby. One of the most popular guys of all time, gone 7 years, and he's on the mid card.

Women's division still needs help, but it's getting there and Ruby will help. Would like to see some more diverse talent get a push, but I think that will happen over time. Stolen from the Ringer, if you have segments with guys from the past, it's all going to be white guys, gotta even that out with your young talent.

Mick Foley to WWE: You have a problem.

Hello, this is the hardcore legend Mick Foley. I’d like to title this video WWE, We’ve Got a Problem because I think you do and that problem is that WWE is no longer the place for talent to aspire to.

Part of it is because AEW is doing a great job of attracting great talent, proven talent, building other talent, creating storylines, but part of it is a problem of your own making.

I think younger talent sees the way that developmental characters are cut or left by the wayside or in the case of Karrion Kross, greatly watered down and even made a joke of when they debut on the main roster. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

If I was an aspiring talent now, big league talent with a major decision to make, I’m not sure that I would trust WWE creative to do the right thing with my career. You guys did wonders with me back in the day, that was a different time, different place.

If it was today, I’m not sure I would trust the powers to be with my career in their hands. And until that changes, WWE, you’ve got a problem.
RUH ROH VINCE!!

Really?  Is this common knowledge?  Or did a friend of a friend of DJax tell him to tell you that?

Not a secrete and I've been right on stuff in the past from friends. Punk confirmed in an interview with Moxley's wife that he took the Fox deal to be an analyst for Smackdown because he dealt with Fox and WWE. Thats something I reported when Punk was first in negotiations with FOX on that role.

Awhile back I was the first to report on martial issues involving Jimmy and Naomi and them turning that into the Jimmy/Mandy Storyline.

Hey, you do you bud.  I'm not saying you're wrong.  You may have been right every time.  I for SURE can't challenge you on these two things because I have literally zero clue what you're talking about in either case.

Fun Twitter news: It's coming out that Kevin Owens contract with WWE is over in January 2022, way before people thought.

Today Owens tweeted then deleted the map coordinates (43.8791 103.4591) for Mount Rushmore. Owens used to be in a stable called "The Mount Rushmore of Wrestling" in PWG, with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks.

Owens plays the game of being wrestler than almost anyone.

I don't really like Owens. Not my style at all. Not a fan of his wrestling, def hate his look....the flub, that nasty beard, the early 00s-esque jelled hair, the lazy Brock-ish tank/gym shorts attire.

But I admit, it would be a massive blow to WWE to lose him, especially to AEW.

Oh boy...shots fired. KO is brilliant at that.

Watched the first two episodes of Heels last night on Starz. Third episode is sitting in my DVR for tonight.

I like it, it's good, and I would imagine most everyone in this thread would enjoy something about it. Small town wrestling promotion, about to go broke, led by an older brother who is the embodiment of old-school rasslin', right up to heel kayfabe around town, and the upstart younger brother who is getting interest from "guys up North".

We know the star, Stephen Amell, loves the business and it shows. The creators clearly are fans, even the episode titles ("Kayfabe", "Dusty Finish", "Cheap Heat, "Swerve") call back to the history. Lots of locker room things, going over the card/practice/business speak is fun, even if they don't have a ton of wrestling in each episode, just enough.

Plus you get to see Disney Channel graduate Kelli Berglund (Lab Rats anyone?) doing things that would make the Mouse blush.

Four episodes in and still enjoying this show. CM Punk was in the last episode as the "aging, grinding indy darling" going from town to town to put food on the table. Played it as almost a sad tale in being in the business too long. Someone compared it to Sons Of Anarchy which it does have that vibe, but I think the cast is better on this show.

Still plenty of sex and nudity including male frontal for those that like that kind of thing. And one of the best lines I have ever heard on television that I can't type here, or get banned.

Remember that time that people were complaining about how AEW was burying Omega with loses and not making him champion, remember?

Also, how did Rich Swann crack the top 10? I don't watch much Impact and didn't know he was doing good stuff post-abuse allegations.
There were doofuses in that article's comment section saying Kenny bought that #1 position.  There's got to be some quality reefer floating around out there.

Plus, that thin-skinned jagoff blocked me on twitter.

What did you say? I'm still trying to get Jericho to unblock me.

Good lord the WWE fanboys these days are cringe. I saw one on the Wrestlinginc FB comment section saying Lashley/Lesnar was the best match and better then anything AEW. The WWE fanboys are getting desperate because they don't want to admit WWE isn't the place to be. You should see their comments on Mic's FB video. You'd think Foley committed a horrendous crime the way some of them are acting. It's a (how do I say this the right way) scary? Uncomfortably? Concerning?

Bryan Danielson just challenged Kenny Omega to a match to which he was told "that's not how things work here".  AEW needs to get a guy in there (has to be former WWE) who runs the gimmick of how much better wrestling was "Up North" and how AEW is just a glorified minor league and that they need to do things in AEW like they do in other Federations.  That crowd would eat that schtick up.

I swear WWE-only marks are terrible.  I gotta believe all of these marks came to wrestling post 2001 and they've never known anything but the E.

We decided 5 hours before the show last night to make the 4 hour drive to Cincinnati. :excited:

Rampage was a better show than Dynamite, carried by the excellent Pac v Andrade match, but we had a fun time through the whole taping. Was Mrs. hags and my first time back with any sort of a crowd since we began quarantine.

So, who is the first guy from AEW to jump ship and go to WWE? Someone has to take the giant bag of cash, right?

Gotta be one of the big chunks of muscle.

Wardlow? Hobbs?
Agreed, but doesn't it also have to be someone that is super over? WWE crowds aren't going to care that a Wardlow shows up.

I would think that maybe an MJF eventually would want to make that jump. Not sure who else. A Moxley jump to reform the Shield would be fun, but he seems pretty happy never to see Vince again. Of course wouldn't put it past Jericho to make another run up North either.
