*** Official *** Rogue One - A Star Wars Story (2 Viewers)

I've read that people were concerned with reshoots they did for the film, thinking that the film was going to be bad because of it. Anyone shed light on that, I thought that was fairly normal for a film and not cause for concern. Or is a pickup shot different from a reshoot?

It is normal from what I read. Most Star Wars fans on the internet are insane whackos.

Yes. Normal. Reshoots happen all the time, ESPECIALLY on big special effects, event movies.

Saw it tonight and it was really, really good. Wife and kids loved it as well.

Very solid story, acting and, of course, special effects.

Looking forward to hearing reviews  when folks here see it.

Bought my assigned seats the night they released the tix. Gong with a 6 and 10 year old and waiting on a stand by line was not an option.

I didn't buy tix at a reserved seat theater for the last movie. When I called, the dude working was like "Yea man, people have been camping out, get here super early" all desperate sounding. So I game planed with my wife, I decided to go to the theater earlier then her, all bundled up—hat and gloves which I never wear expecting to be out in the cold—with a super large coffee and an extra phone battery....and when I get there, nobody. I expected al in around the theater....nope. I walk in the lobby, ask where the line is? some kid emptying garbage was "oh...just over there" and it was maybe 10-12 people lined up against a wall in the back. Unreal.

Anyway...back to this movie, even at 42, I'm gonna lose my #### when the AT-ATs show up. Those were by far my favorite vehicles as a kid and I wish they would have had more time then the did in the originals.

If people are camped out and we can't get two together we'll just go get some drinks and come back to the 10:00 show. #### that.

Tickets for Monday night, out of this thread till Tuesday. Can't wait, kids are excited as hell (13 and 11)

Im out of here until tomorrow night as well

My birthday, texas de brazil, assigned seats so no waiting in line, my family and hopefully some popcorn.

Couldnt ask for a better day. Well I guess no work would have been nice

I'm driving 30 minutes to see this in a theater with reserved seats, late next week. With 3 12 year old boys in tow and my very strong aversion to people in general, there's no way I will wait in line or fight with someone else for a seat.

One of the local radio DJs that is a huge :nerd: said that it's a movie where the plot is so good that it answers questions and fills plot holes that you didn't realize existed and that after seeing it you can't believe how fulfilling it is for the Star Wars universe.

He did say that it is a very dark movie without a lot of lightheartedness.

This is going to drive me crazy because I can't think of any plot holes from 3 to 4 for this to fill in.

Maybe plot holes is the wrong phrase. Mostly just unanswered questions. There is a heck of a gap in the timeline between movies 3 and 4.
Not by that much though.  Only about 16 years, maybe 17, right? Luke wasn't that old at the start of 4.  I'm genuinely curious as to what it fills in, especially those things that "I didn't think of," as a problem.  Can't wait until Saturday.

Luke was 19 years old in 4.

It's been a while since I've seen Episodes 1-3 (When I say 'first three' I mean 4-6, I saw them in the theater the first time. :nerd:

Should I watch Episode 3 before I go to see RO this weekend?

1. Where did they get all the stuff for the Death Star?

2. Where did all those contracters who were building the Death Star come from?

3. What was their hourly rate?

4. Why did it take so long when the second one was fully armed and fully operational in like a week?

3's not as bad as its made out to be, but it's not nearly as  good as most people probably think it should be.

3 is fine. I like the last hour well enough. The big fight scene is cool.

1 and 2 straight up suck, but the Maul fight in 1 is great.

Is this young kid appropriate? I haven't let my 7 year old watch The Force Awakens, but he has seen the others.

1.  It's called Galactic Empire for a reason.

2.  Contractors?  You mean slaves, right?

3.  Free.

4.  First one used contractors.  Second one slaves.

I guess I assumed the new movie would follow the time line from the end of the last movie.  Interesting.  So this is directly after Return of the Jedi?

Timeline is as follows:

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

Rogue One

A New Hope

Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

The Force Awakens

Hourly rate is more than free, you gotta include living expenses!

Just feels epic....when it could have been EPIC!!!!!.  A lot of which I blame on Hayden Christensen as I think he's a bad actor with no emotional range.

Much like Lucas went back and re-digitized and added stuff to the Original Trilogy....Disney should go back and take #### out of the prequels.... make it a tighter story, with fewer of those dumb ### robots all flying around, burping and farting aliens, dumb ### 1950s diner robots, most of the Gungan and their stupid blue balls, most of that scene where they've tied up Padme, Obi - Wan and Anakin and are going to let animals eat them and most of the monotnous, repetitive action sequences (seriously, they have a situation where they could have a kick ### space battle in the beginning of III that would show why Anakin was the greatest pilot of all time....and all he's reduced to is bumping robots off Obi-Wans ship with his wing and letting R2 fry them with his tazer).

Honestly I don't remember anything from these movies at all, other than the fights scenes. Disney could fire them off into the sun and I wouldn't care.

You are doing it wrong.
You are both kind of right.  I am actually Darth Vader's brother, Jeff Vader.  I did the books for the death star.  They were slaves and there was no hourly rate, but there are living expenses.

Who cares about sites say? How were the originals any different that TFA?
My youngest was 8 when he saw TFA and I wouldn't think twice about him seeing it. He'll go with us for Rogue One at 9. If a kid has seen the rest I can't see why you would stop them from seeing TFA.

Technically, it's neither because it's a stand-alone story set in the Star Wars universe.
I'm not sure that's exactly true. The way I heard it described, the events of that movie directly set in motion the rest of the series.

In fact, the exact words of the guy were "Episode 4 would start about 10 minutes after the end of Rogue One."

Yes, they can say it's a stand alone story but it is in fact a story line directly between Ep3 and 4, with characters and plot points we know from those movies, especially Ep4. It's so good. You're all gonna dig it. Promise :)

Re: 7 year old...I brought my 6 year old and he was fine, but he isn't phased by anything.

I had friends who brought their 9 year old twins and one of them lost it crying.

If your kid is sensitive, this could be a tough one.

Theatre buy us has 33 showings tonight, all starting after 7. Damn.

Basically every other movie showing gets cleared out after 4. Rogue one showing every 15 minutes after 7:00. Crazy.
