do you feel in real life when rebellions happen that extremely nasty things don't occur?
so hard to say since it is likely different every where. We got to our showing (a non 3d) 90 minutes ahead of time last night and it was already sold out (we bought tickets ahead of time).
where did you get this information from? Was it from the book?
Here is the key to why the technology in the original trilogy is less than what it was in the prequels. The plans and how to make things were blown up here. Yes, the Empire was dumb to only have these in their database here but now, it makes sense why the old movies look old.
Inside the main rebel ship in a fight over a secret Imperial base that holds all of their archived data. She's a legitimate imperial senator. There's no reason her ship should have been anywhere near there.
Budget mostly and the state of movies back then. Didn't have all the choreography that they do now.
For decades before IV, Hollywood was able to put on fantastic sword fighting scenes going all the way back to Errol Flynn. I don't think it had anything to do with lack of choreography knowledge. He simply wrote and shot a very weak scene IMO.

That's true but they also weren't trying to have a 63 yo man fighting a guy in a 80+lb unflexible suit.

Boy, I didn't feel this way at all. I felt they were very engaging, authentic characters. Had no trouble connecting to them whatsoever.
Memory fails me where I saw this exactly, but somewhere, must have been a book or comic, I swear Luke even put himself into some kind of Jedi meditation state and had R2D2 keep an eye in things because of the length of the trip and the x-wing's life support or something. Seems a lot of detail for a comic, so I had to have read that in a novelization of some sort.
May have been in "Heir to the Empire" because Luke was in space but his X-Wing was broken down. In order to survive Luke had to go into meditation to keep his body temperature up. I believe, it was at this time Mara Jade found him and turned him over to... someone, can't remember his name but it was not the Empire.
I just think of you ranked new characters between the two movies none of the characters from rogue one would have surpassed Rey, Finn, poe, bb8, Kylo ren or even maz except maybe k2so
I think that the jedis on Rebels will die and this might be an indication that the whole group makes it to the big battle and they die off there. I think we are going to get an alternate view of the battle of Scarif from the tv shows perspective focusing on those characters.
I didn't understand why he was there. Last you see of Vader in the prequels is when the Emperor has rebuilt him, which I thought was on Coruscant. Does Vader just like to go there to brood about what he lost there?
can you name which scenes? I can't recall any reused footage but I have only seen it once and could have easily missed it. I want to look for it next time.

Shots (and dialogue) of rebel pilots in cockpits are taken from the assault on the Death Star in IV and used during the assault on Scarif. And the shots of the crew firing the Death Star (pushing buttons and throwing levers).
Yes I have read a couple of things about this. The pilots were CGIed but some sites are reporting that radio chatter and some of the footage was restored from IV from cut scenes. Those scenes were never shown in the movies from what I understand.
The bothans were not a part of IV. The Bothans died in getting the information about Death Star 2 in VI.
I have no idea who is where but the Ghost is shown twice in space above Scarif during the space battle.
You keep saying this about the pilots being CG but I don't think they are. I will find out for sure and report back on Monday...
I am only repeating what I read. I can't know for sure I guess. They digitally copied the pilots from the original movie and put them into Rogue One
It looks like the same shots from IV. Maybe alternate takes to the ones that got used.
Not a single practical model shot of K2SO in the film. Even the close ups in the cockpit were entirely CG. Perfectly done.
I couldn't even rank these. Tried several times over, but can't stand them enough to make it 30 minutes in to any of them.

Was not a fan of Kylo Ren either. He did keep the "whiny little school boy" mentality of the villains of Star Wars up though. Kylo Ren's performance was on par with Hayden's portrayal of Anakin. Yeah, I said it. Kylo was like his grandpa when they were around the same age... whiny wussies.
