I've heard more hype for "the Boss" than for Lletget. Zahavi is a new name to me.
Greg Garza has been in Portugal since 2008. Tied with G.D. Estoril Praia. Garza played for the Dallas Texans as a youth.Alex Molano moved to Croatia in in 2009. Not sure what youth team he played for2 kids from Grapevine? Really? Wonder what club team they played on. I may have to go meet that coach.
My nephew was searching for a club team recently and joined the Texans. Hmmmm....next time I go to a game I'll try to ask about Garza.Greg Garza has been in Portugal since 2008. Tied with G.D. He's 10. I have no idea how you can tell how a kid will develop at that age? He wants to play pro though so yeah it was a big deal making the team.Your nephew must be an excellent player. What about Gale Agbossoumonde? Looks like he might be playing with Garza, but do you know what club he played for in Syracuse? They'll be in 5th sitting on 21pts after the weekend. Tottenham can't handle CL and EPL...and with a little luck Man City will come apart at the seems like they've show signs of already....Make up for the missed call earlier?Spurs have hit their limit for farcical goals, right? Right?!?!

depends who's the better playerInteresting argument it seems like we could have for the rest of our lives.Which is more "American", boy born here but moves to another country at a young age (like Zahavi), or a kid like Boss, who was born in another country but moved here around 9 years old...

Sorry, I meant youth team. What happened to Jack Mac? Has he fallen out of favor in the national picture? He had a nose for the goal in limited action with the Union this season.Speaking of the Union, news came out a few days ago that Danny Mwanga will not be graduated from Generation Adidas status this year and therefore will not have to be protected for the upcoming expansion draft. Great news for us - we need as much help as possible. The latest US U20 roster was released. If form holds a handful of these players will be on the field for the senior squad come 2014.The two players that have the highest potential from my readings are Alex Zahavi who appears to making the one time switch from Portugal to the US (he was born in LA), and Sebastian Lletget who plays for West Ham. Lletget is young for the U20's and will likely not make an impact on the senior side though until 2018 if he plays up to potential.U.S. U-20 Roster:GOALKEEPERS (2): Cody Cropper (Ipswich Town, England; Athens, Ga.), Eduardo Fernandez (Real Salt Lake AZ; Casa Grande, Ariz.)DEFENDERS (7): Gale Agbossoumonde (Estoril, Portugal; Syracuse, N.Y.), Bryan De La Fuente (Chivas USA; Bell, Calif.), Greg Garza (Estoril, Portugal, Grapevine, Texas), Korey Veeder (Crystal Palace Baltimore; St. Petersburg, Fla.), Parker Walsh (Karlsruhe, Germany; Roanoke, Va.).MIDFIELDERS (7): Sebastian Lletget (West Ham United, England; San Francisco, Calif.), Alex Molano (Dinamo Zagreb, Croatia; Grapevine, Texas), Amobi Okugo (Philadelphia Union; Sacramento, Calif.), Moises Orozco (Tigres, Mexico; Oxnard, Calif.), Conor Shanosky (D.C. not sure about Jack. This is not the final roster by any means for the World Cup and Rongen tends to try out numerous players before settling on a roster.I think it is smart for both the Union and for Mwanga himself to remain with the Union. No question that the Union would keep Mwanga as long as possible, but IMO if he plays lights out next season he's going to Europe. He's already on record as saying his dream is to play in France. Personally, since I know he's likely not long for MLS, I hope he stays at least until he gets his US citizenship and gets capped.not sure about Jack. Just got finished watching...Mancini is a sackless cowherd. How about they try and win a ####### home game for once. They better get someone that refuses to play defense in the window or City wont make the CL...AGAIN.What a poor showing by the City players...the fans did their part.Real barn burner going on at the Eastlands

Oh, please. The truth of the matter is he's one of the best. And by being one of the best, he refs a lot of the games we get to see. I bet you couldn't name two other refs without looking them up, yet 10 are out there every week.Howard Webb is awful
I don't claim to know a lot about the different referees, but I think Howard Webb is consistently excellent. The WC final earlier this year had to be one of the most difficult challenges I've ever seen for a referee in any sport, with unfathomable pressure, and he did an excellent job in my opinion.Oh, please. We have talked about Tim Ream a lot in this thread if you go back a ways.He is lanky ball playing central defender. We likened him earlier to a young Carlos Bocanegra (and not just because they are both lefties). Ream was drafted in the second round this year but ended up starting all 30 matches for the Red Bulls. Both his coach and Henry were extremely impressed with his skills.prefontaine said:Roster

Anyone wanna give me a scouting report on the bolded? Also, absolutely fantastic to be getting Bunburry and Diskerud capped for the US.
Unless I am mistaken, I don't think this game will cap tie either player to the US. It is just a friendly. But I get confused on the rules to be honest.prefontaine said:Anyone wanna give me a scouting report on the bolded? Thanks for the breakdown. I now remember the Ream discussion. It is a friendly and the way the rule is right now I believe if you play in a friendly, you have to file paperwork a la Castillo or Germany Jones. It doesn't forever tie you but since we all know FIFA has been known to change the rules it's smart. Plus now players have to make a big show of changing federations and aren't likely to do it unless they are simply not in our plans. If you've never been capped in a senior friendly, you can be "recruited" to play in the other country a lot easier imo.Unless I am mistaken, I don't think this game will cap tie either player to the US. I was watching Ream quite a bit when he came into Philly for the final home game of the season. He doesn't look super impressive physically when you see him in person as opposed to someone like Omar Gonzalez, but he plays the game very intelligently, pretty consistently makes the correct decisions with his passing and clearing out from the back, he's good in the air and he plays very calm at the back. I think he eventually becomes a mainstay for the Nats.We have talked about Tim Ream a lot in this thread if you go back a ways.He is lanky ball playing central defender. this is a fair evaluation.Interesting that you mentioned Gonzalez, as he is almost the opposite of Ream. Strong in the air and on tackles and a physical specimen. I could easily see Gonzo and Ream playing together much they way Gooch and Boca did (similar sizes, skills, strengths etc).I got to see Ream when he came into Philly for the final home game of the season.
