US player Zak Whitbread got his first Premier League action today in a start and 70 minute role in defense for Norwich. He his 27 and has never been capped by the US senior side.

Great Opta stat from today's Liverpool game.

Andy Carrol had 6 shots off target. That was more than any single player managed in any game the entire EPL season last year.

what type of info are you looking for? History, current news, forums etc?If you are looking for a forum for EPL News and Analysis, this one is well run and moderatedhttp://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31If you are just looking for straight news, there is a ton of places online to follow. If you prefer big name US sites, both ESPN and CNNSI have good EPL sections.http://www.epltalk.com has a lot of interesting tidbits For people here who are looking for info on US EPL TV schedules, epltalk does a nice job every weekhttp://www.epltalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/
Thanks. I'm just a dumb American who picked a team and wants to follow this year. I get ESPN3 in HD, so love having something to watch with interest on Sat mornings and a few other times during the week. Newbie about the sport in every sense of the word. Still learning about basic strategy on the field, how transfers work off the field, and the entire Tourney setup, the haves and have nots as far as funding, regulation, etc.

BS red there. Barton living up to his piece of #### reputation.
While it may not have been for the right reasons - I like the karma factor on that red - deserved red for the dive alone in my eyes and the earlier hack Song had on Barton had awakened the Beast. 2 dumb moves by Arsenal.

Wasn't a dive. He got clipped. Not sure if it was worthy of a PK, but wasn't a dive.

Barton is a POS. But you can't slap a guy in the face.
I didn't see anyone slap anyone. Looked like Barton dove untouched when one of the Arsenal guys ran in to the pile. I'll have to see it again.

Gervino is like 125lbs. And like the commentator said he tapped his cheek.
How is that relevant?
I think he doesn't agree with your use of "slap"slap

One easy way to learn is to simply ask what ever specific questions right here. We have a rather diverse knowledge base in this thread and should be able to answer most questions.

I've never seen this one before (Argentina vs Portugal U20):

Game went to PKs. Argentina is dormy with a 3-1 lead and two players left to shoot each. Portugal makes both and saves both. In the 2nd sudden death round Portugal closes it out.

Stunning ending (to an otherwise pretty boring game).

AFC Wimbledon earned the first Football League win of their history after beating Dagenham and Redbridge 2-0 in npower League Two.The Londoners, formed after Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes, marked their return to league football with a last-gasp defeat to Bristol Rovers, but they were triumphant at Victoria Road thanks to a penalty from Luke Moore and a second-half strike from Rashid Yussuff.

I liked the way Barton got after Gervinho for diving and I think every team wants a guy who will do that. What I didn't like was when he dived himself after the "slap".Gervinho - is this a new take on the combover? Gotta be a top 5 pick in the weird-looking EPL players draft.

This Colombia team is good and exciting.

They look like they are going to lose this thing to Mexico, but they are relentless on offense, just havent finished today. Super exciting though...

Then I said I need to see it again. Then I saw it again. It was no slap. You'll at least agree that Barton shouldn't have gotten a red?

Freddy Adu is in the starting lineup tonight for Phili against Brek Shea and FC Dallas
Please post some updates...it's a shame we can't watch it.
2-2 draw. Super intense game in front of a rocking crowd of 18,800 at PPL Park. 2 PKs for Sebastien Le Toux, including one with about 6 minutes left to secure the draw.Brek Shea scored the 2nd goal for Dallas and was a general terror all night, scary good. Over/under for him playing in the Prem or Bundesliga is 2.5 years, and I'd be tempted to say under. As for Freddy, he got the start and went 60 minutes. You could tell that he only had one practice with the team, and he's not in full match form yet, but the vision and creativity was there, couple of very nice passes. He should be up to speed in a few matches.

I kind of like Barton...brings some life to the game.

Clearly a weasel, but he's an entertaining weasel...the dive on the "slap" was classic.

That sounds awesome.Would have liked to have seen Shea too. Thanks for the writeup.

Just watched my first San Jose game tonight...I guess this is my MLS team now that I'm living in the Bay area...they suck.

I have been pimping Shea since last year and he gets better with every game. Even with his simple goal tonight it belied a fantastic 50 yard run and follow up to get the tap in. He is very very good at his age. He is advanced from where Dempsey was at his age. In fact I almost have to go as far and say he is the best player in the history of the league at his age or younger. Twellman (Union color guy) had a funny comment. He said if he ever heard that some one put Shea in central defense again, he was going to hurt the person responsible. My guess is that he goes to Europe in the winter of 2012/2013.Remember earlier this year when FC Dallas called this big press conference for a major announcement? Then everyone was bummed because it was nothing more than a new contract for Shea? Well that deal is looking brilliant now. It is a 5 year deal which all but assures a nice transfer fee should he remain healthy. Can't wait too see him play in the CCL group play. If he can keep this up on the tough away games I will be impressed.

As you all know Mexico won the U17 World Cup.

Now their U20 team just made the semi finals of the U20 World Cup by knocking out the hosts Colombia 3-1.

Must feel great to know you have some excellent talent coming up behind an already good senior side.

CONCACAF Champions League group stage begins this week with a first ever 5 MLS clubs involved.

FSC will be showing all games involving MLS clubs this week as follows:

Tuesday 10:00pm Seattle Sounders (USA) v Comunicaciones (GUA) - Live

Wednesday: 12:30am LA Galaxy (USA) v Motagua (HON)

Wednesday: 10:00pm Colorado Rapids (USA) v Metapan (SLV) - Live

Thursday: 12:30am Pumas UNAM (MEX) v FC Dallas (USA)

Thursday: 8:00pm Tauro (PAN) v Toronto FC (CAN) - Live

The three home games are winnable, and likely all 3 teams are going to need full points from this opening game if they hope to advance.

Obviously the Dallas game is very likely to be a loss but still will be interesting to see how Shea does in that environment.

If Robbie Keane does sign today, he would be eligible to play for LA on Tuesday.

New Chelsea coach but the same team gets rolled out - Kalou, Malouda, Mikel, Ramires, Boswinga, Lampard. I thought wed show something different but it looks like AVB is sticking with the same formula for now - just replacing Drogba for Torres.

UEFA Champions League Qualifying continues this week on FSC. 20 teams are left. 10 teams will advance to group stage in a home and home knock out series.

Some of the interesting matchups include

Tuesday 2:30pm: Arsenal FC (ENG) v Udinese Calcio (ITA) - Live

Wednesday 11:00am: FC Twente (NED) v SL Benfica (POR)

Wednesday 2:30pm: FC Bayern München (GER) v FC Zürich (SUI) - Live

Also, FSC will be showing a UEFA Champions League Highlight show Wednesday at 9:30pm

I disagree with that. It's not his job. And he certainly shouldn't have grabbed him and lifted him up. There's way too much of this crap creeping into the English game. Let the ref take care of it.

Barton should have received a red for grabbing Gervino and pulling him off the ground. And Song should have received a red for stomping on Barton.

Are EPL schedules setup for TV? Like how the NFL puts big games on Sunday night or the NBA puts big games on Christmas. Or is it entirely random?

What a soft goal De Gea just let in. Slow, rolling and still went under him. Not a howler by any means but that should be saved most of the time.
