Here are the first set of grades. I guess it's pretty hard to give bad grades on a night of near total domination.

Player ratings: (0-10; 10=best)
G, Tim Howard, 6.5 -- Rarely troubled except for the own goal, which he could do little about. He did have an effective punch later in the first half.
D, Fabian Johnson, 7 -- Solid defensively and got forward to good effect, including one mazy run in the first half. Only nit was that his crossing needed to be a tad better, but the left back spot looks to be his for the foreseeable future.
D, Carlos Bocanegra, 6.5 -- Immaculate for the first 30 minutes, but then had a few hiccups passing the ball plus a yellow card. Recovered quickly, though, and was impeccable in the air.
D, Geoff Cameron, 5.5 -- Tough break on the own goal, but could have helped himself by being tighter on Miller. Regrouped well and wisely kept things simple when in possession.
D, Steve Cherundolo, 6 -- A bit culpable on Scotland's goal but was otherwise sharp, especially in his support of Donovan on the right flank.
M, Landon Donovan, 10 -- For a guy who questioned his own hunger level before the game, he looked quite energetic. Took his goals well and even found time to tee up Jones' game-capping strike.
M, Jermaine Jones, 8 -- Was all over the field in a more advanced attacking role, and was involved in the buildup to the first three goals. He took his own goal with aplomb. His best performance in a U.S. shirt in quite a while.
M, Maurice Edu, 5.5 -- Was tasked with sitting in defensively in midfield and performed well, but struggled in possession in the latter part of the first half. Was much cleaner on the ball in the second.
M, Michael Bradley, 8.5 -- Scored an absolute cracker of a goal in the 11th minute and was his usual stellar self defensively. His laser-guided passing helped lay on Donovan's two second half goals. Would have been Man of the Match on another day.
M, Jose Torres, 7 -- It was his defensive pressure that started the sequence on Donovan's goal and though his passes didn't always find their intended target, his work rate was phenomenal.
F, Terrence Boyd, 7 -- Wasn't overawed at all on in his first start and held the ball up very well, allowing the U.S. to keep possession. He did plenty to occupy the Scotland back line as well. Touch in front of goal could have been better, but a performance to build on.
Subs:
M, Kyle Beckerman, 6.5 -- His ability to win the ball in the air helped set up Donovan's third goal.
F, Herculez Gomez, 6.5 -- Did well to keep the play alive in the run-up to Jones' goal.
D, Oguchi Onyewu, 6.5 -- The U.S. defense suffered no drop-off after his introduction. Solid in the air.
M, Joe Corona, 6 -- A relatively quiet debut but a day he'll no doubt remember.
G, Brad Guzan, 6 -- Was as untroubled as Howard.
D, Edgar Castillo, 5.5 -- Filled in ably at left back though he did have one wayward cross.
