I'm watching Outside the Lines live....Alexi Lalas just said that IF the US wins this game, it will be the defining moment that confirms the shift from Mexico---->US in the battle to be the "superpower" of North America...

The Us is hoping for a 1-0 or 1-1 game here with that lineup.

Prediction: Mexico 2 - 1 USA

Mexico scores one on a long shot that gets a deflection to go in. The US scores on a counter with LD dishing to Demps for the finish. Mexico takes the lead for good off a run by Dos Santos and a finish by Blanco.

I dunno if I agree. I think that Mexico has at least as much talent coming up in the next 5 years as the US. Probably significantly more talent. This is the US's best chance to get a point in Azteca. They may be on the back foot vs. Mexico in 2 or 4 years time.

I hate to do this, but....

Mexico 2, US 0

Mexicans get one in the mid-1st half/early-2nd half....possibly Guillermo Franco or Guardado.

US controls the second half from 70th - 90th but can't score....Mexico gets a late insurance goal (maybe in stoppage time) after the US pours everyone forward.

Hopefully I'm way way off...Hell, I'd love a draw.

if you offered me a draw right now, i would NOT sign for it. The US will still qualify even if they lose and this is the best chance to win in Azteca.

If not now...when?

 Pedro Gomez inside the Azteca in the upper deck, screaming into his microphone so he isn't drowned out by all the fans all around...you can barely hear him.

Grant Wahl on the starting XI:

Bradley goes with experience: Cherundolo over Spector and Ching over Altidore. Very conservative. Bradley will be criticized if US loses. Ching surely chosen over Altidore because he can hold ball better and has played more games recently. But could Ching have scored v. Spain?

Do you agree?

Uhm, this is physical. Doesn't look like the Confed Cup games.
Central/South American teams are traditionally very physical. Add into it that this is a must-win game vs. a hated rival....ETA - US defense looking very shaky early.

That's crap. The play that lead to the goal was initiated when a Mexican dude grab a guy running by him by the shoulder and spun him around, knocking him off the ball.

WOW

I was just thinking to myself "self, US defense is giving Mexico way toomuch room on the wings and on top of the box, something bad is going to happen"

Helluva shot though

Again, I don't know the game, so forgive me if this is dumb, but shouldn't your defender try to stop the guy kicking the ball instead of turning his butt to the play and bailing out?

Thats not just anyones butt. Thats the captain's butt.

It didn't look good on replay, but if you run full out to stop the shot, what happens if he fakes, and easily gets past you for a shot closer to goal. From that far out you are usually pretty good if you can get as much of your body between the shot and the goal. Takes a great shot to beat the keeper from that far out. But, he had too much room to really unload there, imho.

justin.tv is usually a good place to hunt for feeds

ugh, 2 yellows already - sure we'll have one of their players crack one of our guys in the head and get nothing called for it
