Considering Everton was playing without 10 first team players, I would say they did remarkably well. They are a scrappy team that has been consistently in the top 5-6 of the PL the past few years without the benefit of the large dollars that the top teams spend. I didn't see the game today but they are the only team in their group (that also includes Benfica and AEK Athens who they beat 4-0) that has full points through two games. I'm looking forward to their game against Benfica on the 22nd. Hopefully they will be at close to full strength.Watched the Everton Europa League game and they are just horrible right now. They were lucky to pull out a win against a team that somehow appeared to outclass them. I know nothing of BATE Borisov so maybe they are decent but I have a hard time understanding how any side from Belarus can control an EPL team.
Hmmmm....I honestly don't follow Everton closely so you may be right. But the players I do know that generally start for them were mostly there - Howard, Osman, Cahill, Fellaini, Jo. Neville didn't play so that is certainly a loss but it's not like they were trotting an entire b team out there. I'm not trying to knock them as they do more with less for sure but gawd they were brutal to watch. They had nice organization at the back for the most part but their midfield was just non-existent and it just really surprised me that a Belarus side could control the game like that.Considering Everton was playing without 10 first team players, I would say they did remarkably well. I thought it was a really interesting lineup, particularly coming off the Wigan loss over the weekend. I did not see this game and didn't record it, but I believe I have only seen Belletti play at right back, so am curious how Ancelotti used him. I would expect Cole, Zhirkov or Deco to start in midfield before Belletti if healthy, but I'm sure he was in a more defensive role. I think Boswinga is back from his suspension next game and Drogba after one more, so there was little damage done by their foolishness after the Barca game.Alex has a groin injury.Huge game on Sunday.scousersHappy to see Belletti get on the field in the starting 11. Hes pure class but is buried behind a very deep, talented midfield. Very happy that we started with two wins. With Atletico playing poorly, Chelsea is in great position in what I thought was going to be a tough group. Also, whats up with Alex? Is he injured?they still field a good, experienced first XI, although there are a couple subs that I don't typically see:Chelsea's plays Apoel from Cyprus. They are without Drogba (suspended), Ballack (injured), Mikel (injured) and Boswinga (suspended). Additionally, Ashley Cole is banged up and is a gametime decision. Thats half of all Chelsea's starting field players. Will not be an easy match - and Apoel held up well against Atletico.Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Belletti, Essien, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka, Malouda. Subs: Hilario, Joe Cole, Zhirkov, Deco, Sturridge, Hutchinson, Bruma.

Considering the bad luck they have had off the pitch recently, I'll take some good luck on it. A win's a win here, even if it's ugly. I'll take it happily.Hmmmm....I honestly don't follow Everton closely so you may be right. FIFA: U.S. to play in Honduras despite turmoilDid they end up moving the game or is it still going to be in Honduras?
No Castillo on the squad is just really upsetting me. I get that you dont want to throw him right into the starting 11, but i dont see the downside to at least bringing him into camp. If they win teh first game, they've already qualified, so they can use him in the 2nd game to see how he meshes with the team.
Annoying.Oh CRAP!!!!The game will not be on TV. Only closed circuit TV (not even PPV).I can't tell if this is an oversight or not but USsoccer.com is not listing any TV options for the Honduras game.
Does anyone know what channel(s) will carry this game?

OH GOD YESBefore kick-off visiting Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was given a warm reception by the Emirates Stadium faithful, the Barcelona forward having admitted he would one day love to return to his old club in some capacity - perhaps even as Wenger's eventual successor.
I gotta find me a way to watch these Spanish games. Had some money on Atletico yesterday...and one thing I loved was 6 yellows for Atletico and 3 for Zaragoza. Not to be undone, today's Valladolid/Athletic Bilbao game featured a straight red followed by 4 yellows for the road side while Valladoid had 3 yellows and 2 red cards! And in today's Fulham/West Ham game, West Ham went up 1-0, Fulham then went down a man, only to go up 2-1 before allowing a 90th minute equalizer.I get to watch the Chelsea/Liverpool game which the referee swallowed his whistle and didnt call anything, including a few blatant yellows and a few hand balls. But, Drogba does flop around way too muchAtletico gets its first win of the season, 6 games in. About ####### time, jerkoffs.Only slightly makes up for Cal getting smoked 30-3 in Memorial last night.

England has already qualified, but their qualifier is only available on the internet for a fee - very bizarre:England's World Cup qualifier in Ukraine on Saturday will be shown exclusively live to subscribers on the internet who will pay at least £4.99It is absolutely disgraceful that a World Cup Qualifier will not be shown on television. What a great way to advance the sport.

I think he may play vs CR and I believe the roster is the submitted for both games so I don't think this is going to change anything as far as Castillo goes. Will be curious how this changes our lineup. If we assume Bradley/Clark are paired in the middle (whether that is right or wrong) then we have 3 options on the wing I think unless BB goes nuts and puts in Rogers. 1) Holden in for Dempsey. Late game push LD up top when we put in another mid2) Fehlheiber in for Dempsey. Allows more maneuverability as Benny can go inside (Holden can as well but we've never put him there before) and so we could bring on Holden later and take off Clark or push LD up top to replace Jozy/Davies.3) Torres on the left and shift LD to the right. Torres is like Holden in that he can play both in and out. I think he plays central for his club but hasn't been given much of a shot there on the NT level there. My starters without knowing everyone's form would beDoes someone else get to take Dempsey's spot on the roster? Could be an opportunity to get Castillo in there.
avies - JozyLD - Bradley - Benny - HoldenSpector - Boca - Gooch - DoloHowardThis admittedly leaves little offense on the bench besides Torres but I'd rather go for the lead and then sub in Torres/Clark for a forward and push LD up top. But if we get behind, we have no firepower off the bench really. So I really don't think this would be a lineup BB would ever submit. But for this game especially, I'd go balls out for a win. I expect we'll see

Columbus Crew defender Frankie Hejduk has been called into U.S. national team training camp. Hejduk replaces injured midfielder Clint Dempsey, who is out with a shoulder injury.Hejduk will join the team on Tuesday afternoon and is expected to train on Wednesday with the rest of the 22-player group as it prepares for upcoming World Cup qualifiers at Honduras (Saturday) and vs. Costa Rica (Oct. 14).Hejduk's call-up doesn't mean Dempsey will not play vs. Costa Rica. Dempsey's availability for the Costa Rica qualifier has yet to be determined.

I find it really hard to believe the Hondurans were able to get more money from a company that was just broadcasting it via closed circuit feed. Why do they hate the profit game?In regards to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s match against Honduras on October 10, the rights are owned by the Honduras federation, which chose to sell the U.S. television rights, in both English and Spanish, to a company which opted to broadcast via closed circuit feed only. As a result, the match will not be televised by any network or cable channel.
Thank you for your e-mail and for taking the time to write.
With every national team match, U.S. Soccer wants the television broadcast to reach the widest audience possible. However, the worldwide television rights to each CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match are the property of the hosting nation, meaning the hosting nation may distribute those rights at its discretion.

While U.S. Soccer would prefer the match be more accessible to fans, we have no broadcast rights in this instance. However, we still wish to assist our fans as much as possible in their efforts to view the match and support the team.

Fans will also be able to follow the match on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker, as well as twitter.com/ussoccer.
We appreciate your understanding. Most of all, we value the continued support that means so much to our players as they attempt to complete the task of clinching a spot in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
