The violence yesterday.========The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body today decided to impose a deduction of six points on the Football Union of Russia (RFS) for the qualifying competition of the next UEFA European Football Championship.This decision is suspended for a probationary period running from now until the end of the play-offs for the UEFA EURO 2016 finals.The RFS has also been fined €120,000. The RFS was facing charges for the improper conduct of its supporters (crowd disturbances), the setting off and throwing of fireworks and the display of illicit banners at last Friday's UEFA EURO 2012 Group A match against the Czech Republic in Wroclaw.An appeal can be lodged against this decision within three days of the dispatch of the written decision.

I agree. UEFA had to know scheduling that game on that day in that city was going to be a mess. They should have simply switched the Group A and Group C's schedules ages ago to avoid the obvious conflict.

Hmm good question. I have no idea what that means. The media is reporting it like the points are definitely going to be docked but the wording in the sentence you listed may indicate otherwise.

I don't exactly hate myself for liking Germany, but I'm surprised at how much I appreciate them despite myself. That is a very fine team -- class of the tournament so far IMO.

Funny you mention this while the Germans and playing the Dutch as I think this has been a fairly penalty free game. The ref is letting them play and the players seem to be staying on their feet more. I feel that constant flopping is a tactic historically used by less talented teams/players but that is just my opinion.ETA: I know that you were not speaking about this game in particular but the timing of the post during a pretty penalty free match.

I disagree. It's a cultural thing that has cropped up in the last 20 years. Some players do it far more than others, and it doesn't have much to do with how talented they are. Look at CRonaldo, Suárez, and Rooney. One of these is not like the other.

No question it is a bad part of the sport. Every sport has their down sides and this happens to be soccer's. Luckily there is more than enough great things in the sport to make up for it.

They would all have -1 GD, but Portugal and Denmark would have 4 goals scored to 3 for the Dutch, and Portugal has the H2H tiebreaker over Denmark.But, if GA is a higher tiebreaker, then the Dutch would have the fewest GA of the 3 and advance.

Equality of points after the group matches

so, in the 1-0 games, it looks like Portugal would advance, assuming they knock the Dutch out on number of goals scored among the 3 - Portugal and Denmark would have 3 each, and Netherlands only 1. Then if they start back at the top - Portugal wins the H2H.
