They had total control for the 15 or so minutes after that but they're hanging on for dear life right now. RvP has to be kicking himself after that PK.I really like this Southhampton squad. Theyre a nervy bunch. Take the 2-1 lead,
After a full 90 on Thursday, too. He looked meh today, and shouldn't be putting in those kinds of shifts. Saw one stat where he gave the ball away 24 times...oofI actually thought to myself that Gerrard looked a little bit heftier than the last few years, like he's bulked up a bit. He went 90 minutes so he's obviously fit, but I barely saw him at all out there.
love this kidI agree on Allen, too. Very solid player.
He used to play for Arsenal, but United got him in a double coup of van Persie and Wenger's bronzed cajones. That van Persie guy is kinda an ok player.
Guy is a United legend. Maybe the best guy they've ever developed. That van Persie guy is kinda an ok player.

My first half thoughts:- Diaby looks fantastic, best player on the field for Arsenal thus far.- Still not a lot of chance creation except from Cazorla and Podolski. Still nothing much from the wings. Gibbs has been active and I like it, but he has looked really out of sync with Giroud. Ox has been effectively silent and neglected to get back in defense a few times that I saw; I'd love to see Walcott check in soon.- Jenkinson looks surprisingly competent defensively against Sterling. Sterling looks good and has probably overall had the better of it between the two, but Jenkinson is holding his own and hasn't been a defensive liability so far today.- Mertesacker still sucks and has given the ball away a few times, but that slide in the box was a world-class challenge.- I still don't know how to feel about Giroud. At the very least, he's not a useless pylon like Chamakh. Still, though, he kinda just looks like a new version of Nicklas Bendtner, except he's not as good a dribbler or finisher. Who needs those qualities anyway, right? Hopefully it's just nerves and he'll settle in.
Diaby looked like a different player out there. He was awesome today. I'm glad Ox got a start, but it's back to the bench for a bit, imo. They missed Walcott or Gervinho making runs and tracking back more (like Gervinho anyway). Something about Jenkinson rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's just that hipster vibe you mentioned. He also blundered a clearance and gave a cheap corner.I took Taster's comments about Jenk more as "he's surprisingly not a total disaster".I'm surprised to hear the Jenkinson praise. He made at least three passes that I can recall that led to direct counter-attacks. Just terrible passes across the middle of the field that got picked up immediately.
His distribution was horrible, but I thought it was maybe his best game ever for Arsenal in terms of actual defending. He's still not good, though.I'm surprised to hear the Jenkinson praise. He made at least three passes that I can recall that led to direct counter-attacks. Just terrible passes across the middle of the field that got picked up immediately.

63Bar argument time. If given 100 PKs against a high school goalie, how many goals would a very athletic 50 year old who has never touched a soccer ball score given a few minutes of warm up?

Cristiano Ronaldo did not celebrate either of his first two goals of the season in Real Madrid's 3-0 win against Granada (video of the first here). After the match he made it clear that he did this with purpose, but he also left a bit of mystery about it all as he refrained from getting too specific. From Sky Sports:Speaking to reporters after the match, Ronaldo explained he was feeling down and that it was due to a 'professional' rather than 'personal' issue."I don't celebrate goals when I am feeling sad and that's the case today," said Ronaldo."The people who work here know why and I won't say any more than that."Guillem Balague and AS later reported that Ronaldo told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave the club even though he contract runs until 2015. AS also claimed that Ronaldo cited trouble in the dressing room with his teammates as a reason for his displeasure. But what could be the problem? Here are several possibilities...-Marcelo accidentally called him "Leo."-Xabi Alonso said that "anyone who doesn't watch Breaking Bad is an idiot" and Cristiano does not watch Breaking Bad.-Seeing Iker Casillas cry so many times has made him depressed.-He's worried that if Kaka leaves, they won't be able to hang out on Real Madrid Resort Island together.-He just found out that Kaka doesn't really exist and he is the only one who can see him.-Luka Modric's physical appearance is upsetting to him.-He got really freaked out by Michael Essien calling Jose Mourinho "daddy."-Karim Benzema asked if his girlfriend, Irina Shayk, will leave him for Andres Iniesta now.-Jose Callejon said that Jose Callejon has the best hair on the team and didn't realize Cristiano was standing right behind him the whole time.-Ricardo Carvalho being tossed aside like a dead gold fish that is still very much alive.-The rest of the team keeps asking him why he's nice to Fabio Coentrao and they all roll their eyes when he says they're friends.-Sergio Ramos said something Sergio Ramosy.-Sergio Ramos offered to kick his favorite ball to him from across the training pitch, but ended up kicking it into the ocean instead.-Sergio Ramos ate the sandwich his mom packed him for lunch 16 days in a row.-Sergio Ramos accidentally erased all the songs on his iPod.-Sergio Ramos accidentally adopted his son and renamed him "Herman Jr."-Sergio Ramos.
Less than half. A novice won't have the technique to place the kick.Yeah, it's going to be lower if he's never kicked a ball before. Goalie can probably get most of them without having to guess.

Seems like you got what I meant by "feature"- got his caps, but was never an integral part of the team. Wouldn't have guessed at 36 caps for Kries. And in a way, I remember Ralston at least having a stretch (albeit small) with the Nats where he helped in a big way- great, consistent player. And Davis- so good. I wonder why he gets traded so much? Because he has obvious value, but probably doesn't make marquee money?'NewlyRetired said:This is an interesting question. It is hard to define exactly what feature means but I think Kries would be near or at the top of that list.Even though he had 36 caps, over 10 year period, I always though Ralston was a player who seemed like he could have helped the Nats more than he did. As for active players, Brad Davis probably is the best player who never really got a chance with the Nats.KriesDon't think of him as a goal scorer- incorrectly, obviously. Man- the best US player possibly ever to not feature with the Nats.
Hopefully it will give him a chance to improve his weaknesses. Let me rephrase that... hopefully his team gives him a chance to play and improve his weaknesses.I think Floppo said it best. I don't think there is a worse league in the world than the Championship in England to make Ream look bad. Everything he does well is not welcome and everything he struggles with is going to be exploited.

Agree with everything. Was amazed at Diaby's play, after being repeatedly bleh by it previously. And that was two teams that could/should have used a Dempsey. But there's reason for optimism for Liverpool- they're playing well, just need Suarez to score. Oh wait- they have other guys thatcan score, right? And Arsenal seemed to start to gel in the 2nd half; that goal visibly lifted their spirits and their play. They went forward with a lot more confidence afterwards. My first half thoughts:- Diaby looks fantastic, best player on the field for Arsenal thus far.- Still not a lot of chance creation except from Cazorla and Podolski. Being able to run a marathon isn't going to help you kick the ball on frame 100 times, let alone away from the GK. But yeah, somewhere just north or south of 1/2.Maybe the marathon would help if you did a 2nd 100 PKs. But no as much as having just taken the previous hundred.40-50 if he's never touched a ball before

I wrote that poorly. Ralston had 36 caps. Kries had 14 caps.Davis has been with SJ/Houston since 2005. That is a pretty long time to be with any one MLS team. I have no idea of course but I have to think that Dempsey comes off the bench in Jamaica. Not only has he not played a game in 3 months, he has not even trained with professionals for a long time. Klinsmann said they will judge him based on his three days in camp in Miami before they head down to Jamaica. If he was fit, I like to think that Dempsey/Jozy/Boyd or Dempsey/Jozy/Gonzo would be the three forwards.I am hopeful Jozy practices well. Klinsmann has not favored him lately and I think he needs to be at his best for the US to pull something off down at The Office.Any chance they use Dempsey as an attacking mid to distribute to Boyd and somebody else up top? Or is Dempsey's fitness a question?
At Jamaica is the first. This Friday night on beIN Sport. Note it is live on beIN Sports (English), but will be tape delayed on beIN Sport (Spanish).I doubt demps can go a full 90. Better to bring him on for a needed spark, or (better yet) to get him some needed minutes in a game that's already iced). Which WCQ game is first?
