This. Losing Thiago isn't great, but Barcelona got a decent chunk of change for him. They have plenty of midfield options and not many needs, while they have far too few defensive options and a ton of needs. They need to get an excellent defender, period. Now put that 25mil to good use and get a decent CBAnd when Pep leaves Bayern in 3yrs Thiago can go back to Barca.
I'm upset that Barca's front office has bungled this so badly. You can't offer something like this and then not pay attention and make sure it doesn't happen. Or alter the clause to account for games that he missed because of injury.I don't see how any Barca fan has a right to be mad. Thiago's buyout clause was completely within Barca's control. As was the decision to give him games or not give him games.
My guess is that Thiago Silva will ultimately leave PSG for Barca....This. Losing Thiago isn't great, but Barcelona got a decent chunk of change for him. I don't get it. My opinion is admittedly skewed, but I just don't see why he'd choose Bayern over United (even though the German in me does make me sympathetic to Bayern). If playing time was his biggest motivator for moving, how does BM make sense for him? I remember wondering where Gotze would fit in, but now Thiago too? Makes me think that Pep is really going to shake up the formation at BM.Thiago to Bayern official, per Barca's website. 25m euros.
Important to remember that Pep's brother is Thiago's agent. He probably came up with that idea.I'm upset that Barca's front office has bungled this so badly. And as helpful as that money will be, they could've just sold him outright for more and fetched a higher price if not for the clause.
At least it wasn't RM, that's the only sliver lining.

Pretty sly move really. I wonder if that is why he is muddying the water in the press.Pep is a crafty mother####er, man.Important to remember that Pep's brother is Thiago's agent. Theres also that Schweinsteiger guy. The more I look this over, I think that Muller might be the odd man out. That would really suck.Martinez is moving to CB and Thiago's apparently going to be a deep-lying MF, although that creates a glut at CB: Martinez, Dante, Badstuber, Boateng, and then old Van Buyten.
That still leaves Mandzukic, Kroos, Alcantara, Muller, Gotze, Ribery, Robben and Shaqiri for 5 spots. But with three subs, all 8 can see action in any given game. Or maybe they bring in a CB and move Martinez back to his DM role when they're trying to protect a lead (although I never remember that being Pep's style).
Bayern's going to have a lot of games next year,so I guess it's good they have a bit of depth.![]()
Maybe Barcelona can buy Boetang like I do in FifaAs far as the CBs go, Dante seems like he would fit really well with Pep's style. He's good on the ball for a defender. I'd think that Van Buyten would be too slow if they wanted to play a high line. Poor Badstuber's knees are wrecked. I guess it makes sense to move Martinez back there.
I'm just sitting back waiting to see how this works out.

I'd really like to see Muller as the striker. His ability to find space would allow him to play like a false nine, but he can also provide a physical presence.Bonzai said:Theres also that Schweinsteiger guy. Well deserved.Wow, straight red handed to HON for a very dangerous tackle.
Gods work as usual, QGOkay the scenarios for the quarters are pretty straightforward.

Panama is A1, Mexico is A2
Honduras is B1, T&T is B2, El Salvador is B3

Almost all La Liga contracts, including Thiago's, have a standard gigantic buyout clause.Barca extend Busquets through 2018, and learn their lesson with a 150mm buyout clause.![]()
It also sounds like Cavani might be presented by PSG today, and they're also close to Marquinhos.

Rosell and Titohttp://as.com/diarioas/2013/07/12/english/1373641823_461676.htmlCardoner said that he was very surprised when he heard the statements: “I heard a clip on the radio and later I saw the whole thing and I didn’t understand it. I guess there will be an explanation about what he’s said because the relationship with us, and I’m not just talking about myself, but also about the president, has always been good. We’ve never used Tito’s illness against him and anyone who did so would be a pretty horrible person”.
There is the denial Pep was asking for from the club's board...

Joshua Gatt knee injury from the game series in Sarpsborg, is so severe that he undergo surgery later this month – and is out for the rest of the season. Josh is currently at home in the U.S. where it was intended that he would play for the U.S. in the Gold Cup. After surgery and initial treatment, Josh get back to Norway for further training, said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
* With the win, the US has now won seven in a row, tying the longest winning streak in the USMNT history. The US also won seven in a row in 2007, which overlapped with them winning the 2007 Gold Cup. The teams they beat during the streak in 2007: China, Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago, El Salvador, Panama, Canada and Mexico.
* The seven-game winning streak is also the longest active streak in the world among teams ranked in the FIFA Top 25.
![]()
* The US has now scored 4+ goals in three straight games for the first time ever. The US has also scored 16 goals over its last three games, tying the record for most goals scored over a three-game span (also done in 1993).
* With the win, the US is now 27-1-2 all-time in the Gold Cup group phase.
* The US came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Cuba on Saturday. It was only the third time in 10 all-time meetings that the US has trailed against Cuba. The US fell behind 1-0 to Cuba in a 2005 Gold Cup match before coming back to win by the score of 4-1 as well. And the US also trailed and lost to Cuba, 5-2, in 1947.
* Chris Wondolowski has been the MVP for the US through two games of the tournament. In fact, his five goals through two games is already the most goals scored by an American in a single Gold Cup.
![]()
* Wondo has now scored six goals over his last three games after failing to score goal in his first nine career games with the USMNT.
* Including his goal against Guatemala, Wondo has scored six goals in 2013. Since 1991, scoring 6+ goals in a calendar year has happened only 15 times (including Wondo in 2013) and he has done it in only four games.
![]()
* Landon Donovan has also done well in recent games. Besides becoming the first player in USMNT history with 50+ goals or 50+ assists, he scored his 15th career goal at the Gold Cup on Saturday, extending his own record.
![]()
* And this one comes from Paul Carr of ESPN, if you just take his 15 career penalty goals, those would be tied for the 10th most in USMNT history.
* Donovan has scored four goals in 2013, his most in a calendar year since he scored five in 2009. And he has scored a goal in three straight games for the first time since the 2010 World Cup.
* Should Donovan or Wondo score again in the next game, they would tie the US record for goals in consecutive games at four straight, something Jozy Altidore matched (and his streak is still active until he plays again) earlier this year. Donovan has scored in four straight games twice before, once in 2005 and another streak in 2007.
Does he get his kicks above the waistline, Sunshine?

Yeah for a game with "nothing" on the line (except a little bit easier road in the knock-out rounds) I think this is going to be some spirited high-octane stuff todayLoved this yesterday from the press conference when asked about the snow game from Costa Rica press
