The answer is obviously Balotelli, and not because I think he's any sort of guaranteed success.Only time will tell ...Better signing:

No player outside of Messi or CR7 is worth that much. DiMaria's a fine player and will definitely help United, but they got absolutely ###-raped in order to get him. It's actually embarrassing.
And it's not like they just need one last finishing touch on an already excellent squad that helps them to now win the league and the CL either. They still have a decent sized shopping list they need to fill.

Elche looked a tiny bit dangerous on the break. I think that Barça will try and maintain possession further back and just keep the counters to a minimum. This one ends 2-0, not 4-0 add a result of the red (which was clearly a red).

Was at the Union game last night, and other than a 10-minute stretch at the beginning of the 2nd half they looked very good. The time off since the Houston game did them well. On another note, PPL is a fantastic venue and I will definitely be back. DOOP!

You seem to have picked a good game to go to as the highlights looked fun. That was an absolute must win for Philly. Had they dropped points to a weak SJ team they might have sealed their playoff fate.
Their best hope this year is winning the US Open Cup at home. That should be a really fun game to go to.

How close is this guy to the Glazers? Does he predate them or is he "their guy"? United have look like bumbling idiots for over a year now and I'm wondering if Ferguson was basically acting as a firewall against the stupidity of the Glazers.

He took over for David Gill on 2013.
He was part of the United marketing/commercial side of things and has been pals with the Glazers for years.

Beats me. In Woodward's defense, even if we all know the work permit thing has gotten insane, you've got to think a guy who played every minute in the World Cup (I think?) for a team that played in the final would meet the exceptional talent exception.

You'd think they'd have checked this out though either way. But it's not just this -- it's pretty much everything they've done. Transfers gone bad, multiple public bids for players who don't want to come (was it Cesc?), panic buying at inflated prices, no sense at all that the players they have "fit" together, failed work permits, and I'm sure I'm leaving some out. There's just a real sense of incompetence to it all.
I'm not unhappy to see it, but I think it's truly panic button time at Old Trafford.

I don't think the answer is obvious, and still believe that only time will tell on a deal like this. While it may seem a mistake to make ADM the most expensive PL player, the fact is that Man United can easily absorb his cost. I think it has to be the assault charge - looking at Argentina's WC qualifying, I think Rojo was in the squad for all but two games within the last two years - so he easily makes the 75% mark.
Not excusing a billion dollar franchise from conducting its own due diligence here - but the alleged incident did take place in 2010, and seems to be taking its time to make it into the court system. A good background check should have been able to pick it up though...

Have appreciated your reminders on Man United's finances and buying power. It's easy to forget how much free cash flow they have if they want to spend it.
