He has the talent. He just needs to remember it doesn't matter how it goes in the goal, just as long as it does. 2 espn highlight goals out of 4 wont get you paid as much as 0 espn highlight goals out of 15...

That's what I liked about all 3 goals yesterday - they were the simplest and most efficient ways that he could finish in each situation, and he carried out each one perfectly.

That was a brutal dropping of points. As a Revs fan that was good for my team but man what a stomach punch adter looking like they grabbed the vital 3 points late.

To be totally fair, he's played better this year. He's tried and hasn't looked so aloof on defense. And that one-touch cross over to Messi was a thing of beauty last weekend.

That said, I still don't think he has the offensive skills/speed to warrant getting as forward as he does. He gets a ton of space out there on the right because teams know he isn't much of a threat, and his crossing ability is mediocre at best.

That he did. And he did well. And when he doesnt think to much or all he has to do is direct the ball into the net he seems to be fine. He was in on goal and close enough that he didnt have to think. Had he been on the break from outside the box then the issues I mentioned arise. Good for him, good for Arsenal.

I would rather he score for Arsenal then Liverpool, City or Chelsea... since he couldnt score for United :boxing:

Now on the weekend, with Rooney & Blackett (I think) out and Herrera hurting, hope this means more Mata and Januzaj.

Yeah, I just went back and watched the off-the-ball movement. That was excellent. So hard to get kids to understand that they need to work harder without the ball than they do with it sometimes.

you nailed it.

that one pass opened everything else up (after the GK put him in a bad spot)... and could/should have been a complete disaster if not played so well.

Although I guess it could be said that the ball played by the GK pulled the other team up high, stretching them out defensively and opening themselves to that incredbily well worked series of 1-touches.

Its hard to get over 35 year old players to get that off the ball movement going. I want to show some of the wingers I play Sundays with the kid on the outside getting chalk on his heels....

but seriously- playing the ball in the back is going to lead other teams to pushing higher... obviously 509 one-touch picture-perfect passes in a row isn't part of the plan, but forcing the other team to adjust their defensive shape is.

The yellow team was actually pressing very well - it almost came down to one mistake and there could have been a goal the other way, that being the DM's(?) first touch on a pass to the keeper being a bit (not a lot) errant, and forcing another back pass into traffic. That's a big part of what's so impressive to me - that wasn't one team simply falling apart. The yellows were playing good footy trying to regain possession and got cut up by expert play.

 
If Arsenal sets up for counter attack and puts out a fast set of attackers like they did mid-week (e.g. Alexis, Welbeck and Oxlade-Chamberlain), anything can happen.

 
My kid, the newly-minted Liverpool fan, came out of her room to stall ("my room is tilting" :rolleyes: ). I told her that Pool was playing tomorrow at 7 am, and she was pretty stoked.

Me: "And you know what Liverpool's motto is?"

Me: "'You'll Never Walk Alone.' Know what you have to do to your bedroom right now?"

What a great start Atlético. The goals down in first 16 mins, including an own goal. Moyá and Miranda not their best outing. This team is so up and down right now.

Shocking...Miranda looked to be at fault for the second goal as well...I begrudgingly respect him & Godin as the complete CB pairing, did not see this one coming. What a contrast in style between the two teams. Valencia looks the part this year...
