That's what I liked about all 3 goals yesterday - they were the simplest and most efficient ways that he could finish in each situation, and he carried out each one perfectly.Welbeck has always had great movement, pace and positioning so none of this is a surprise. Over the last few seasons his decision making was lacking as he seemed to be consumed with trying to make the ESPN highlight goal and at the top of the box wanted to shoot when he should pass and wanted to pass when he should shoot. His choices on type of shots when in on goal also was very off and often he would get to fancy on the ball. It had become so bad that IMO he had worked himself into an excellent winger type who could serve a ball, get in behind defenders and work up and back endlessly.
His swing and a miss leading to Ox's goal is a great representation of his last couple years at United while his Hat Trick yesterday showed more of what he burst on to the scene with. Also not surprising that he did this in a CL game, but will need to build off this for the EPL. If he can find a nice level of consistency between these two extremes he will far exceed the transfer $ spent on him. If he continues to tease like he did at United, then Arsenal overspent.
He has the talent. He just needs to remember it doesn't matter how it goes in the goal, just as long as it does. 2 espn highlight goals out of 4 wont get you paid as much as 0 espn highlight goals out of 15...
spurs played entire 2nd team today...ETA Chiriches might have played his way out of future games even with the second teamI hope Besiktas wore Spurs' asses right out today.
That was a brutal dropping of points. As a Revs fan that was good for my team but man what a stomach punch adter looking like they grabbed the vital 3 points late. This is the part where Mbolhi throws his controller at the TV and declares the game to be bull####.
To be totally fair, he's played better this year. He's tried and hasn't looked so aloof on defense. And that one-touch cross over to Messi was a thing of beauty last weekend.Sebowski said:

Philly needs to draft, sign AND at least trade for a new keeper next season. They have not put enough resources into that position yet.I just assumed he was already in trouble with his new American bookieThis is the part where Mbolhi throws his controller at the TV and declares the game to be bull####.![]()
That he did. And he did well. And when he doesnt think to much or all he has to do is direct the ball into the net he seems to be fine. He was in on goal and close enough that he didnt have to think. Had he been on the break from outside the box then the issues I mentioned arise. Looked more likely to be a disaster playing out the back until the left back made an amazing outlet.Yeah, that's pretty

The one touch passing was fun to watch from that age group - impressive.
Yeah, I just went back and watched the off-the-ball movement. That was excellent. So hard to get kids to understand that they need to work harder without the ball than they do with it sometimes.loved how the winger got wide and everyone had the confidence to play one touchLooked more likely to be a disaster playing out the back until the left back made an amazing outlet.Yeah, that's pretty![]()

you nailed it.Looked more likely to be a disaster playing out the back until the left back made an amazing outlet.Yeah, that's pretty
Riiiiiiight.Although I guess it could be said that the ball played by the GK pulled the other team up high, stretching them out defensively and opening themselves to that incredbily well worked series of 1-touches.
Its hard to get over 35 year old players to get that off the ball movement going. I want to show some of the wingers I play Sundays with the kid on the outside getting chalk on his heels....Yeah, I just went back and watched the off-the-ball movement. That was excellent. The yellow team was actually pressing very well - it almost came down to one mistake and there could have been a goal the other way, that being the DM's(?) first touch on a pass to the keeper being a bit (not a lot) errant, and forcing another back pass into traffic. That's a big part of what's so impressive to me - that wasn't one team simply falling apart. The yellows were playing good footy trying to regain possession and got cut up by expert play.Riiiiiiight.Although I guess it could be said that the ball played by the GK pulled the other team up high, stretching them out defensively and opening themselves to that incredbily well worked series of 1-touches.![]()
but seriously- playing the ball in the back is going to lead other teams to pushing higher... obviously 509 one-touch picture-perfect passes in a row isn't part of the plan, but forcing the other team to adjust their defensive shape is.
YesAnyone think Arsenal has a chance tomorrow?
Sunday, right? Sure Arsenal has a chance.Anyone think Arsenal has a chance tomorrow?
But most likely they still lose.If Arsenal sets up for counter attack and puts out a fast set of attackers like they did mid-week (e.g. Alexis, Welbeck and Oxlade-Chamberlain), anything can happen.
). I told her that Pool was playing tomorrow at 7 am, and she was pretty stoked. She'll never eat alone either. My kid, the newly-minted Liverpool fan, came out of her room to stall ("my room is tilting"). I told her that Pool was playing tomorrow at 7 am, and she was pretty stoked.
Me: "And you know what Liverpool's motto is?"
Little GPJ: "What?"
Me: "'You'll Never Walk Alone.' Know what you have to do to your bedroom right now?"
Little GPJ: ...
Me: "Walk alone."
(I tucked her in)
Doh! Yeah, Sunday. I was just searching every channel over and over agin to set the dvr for tomorrow. Sunday! Arsenal wins on Sunday! Sunday!Sunday, right? Sure Arsenal has a chance.Anyone think Arsenal has a chance tomorrow?
Shocking...Miranda looked to be at fault for the second goal as well...I begrudgingly respect him & Godin as the complete CB pairing, did not see this one coming. What a contrast in style between the two teams. Valencia looks the part this year...What a great start Atlético. The goals down in first 16 mins, including an own goal. Moyá and Miranda not their best outing. This team is so up and down right now.
Is Cerci available today?Atleti don't have the horses to bring this one back, despite this goal.
Not sure, but he should be.Not sure why siquiera took that penalty. Mario wanted it obviously, and there are other penalty takers on the team.Is Cerci available today?Atleti don't have the horses to bring this one back, despite this goal.
They could use his incisive runs inside from the wing to open up space...can see them getting back into this game.Cerci is the bench. I can see him coming on for Gabi. Maybe Saúl on as well.
