Lol at spurs with two crystal clear offside goals
Yeah, should be 1-0 Spurs right now.
I didnt see citys goal... offside too?
Just a bit...not as bad as Walker, but offside.
I didn't see it in live action but the replay freeze-frame they showed during halftime looked pretty dead-even. Were there better angles?
Nbc had the freeze frame on showed he was about a foot off- hard to call in the run of play, and again, nothing like Walkers.
Hmmm... only saw the replay once after the game and it looked even-stevens to me. I'm sure another angle shows the foot off you're talking about.

Hmm, Orlando's only two points back of Toronto now, I guess I have to start paying attention to their games now. Let's see who they're playing today and OH #######IT IT'S THE ####### FIRE AGAIN

Full credit to Villarreal for putting the clamps on the Atlético attack. They looked well disciplined, organized, and had great spacing in the second half. Their guy, Eric Bailly was probably the best player on the pitch, and I've never heard of him...

Atleti looked tired and not ready to play with the intensity needed. Martinez and Griezmann have yet to really get on the same page, and I've not been impressed by the former at all. Torres should get the start for a while yet. Also, Correa looks a bit better than Vietto, IMO, and Óliver still needs some seasoning against full grown men too. Atleti haven't figured out their best formation yet. Final thought... Juanfran was sorely missed as Gámez is half the player he is at right back.

My Revs put in an awful performance tonight drawing 1-1 with a Philly team who was clearly in a "US Open Cup Final is on Wednesday and we are out of the MLS playoffs" mode.

All credit to Blake. We make a ton of fun of the Philly keeper situation but he played a blinder tonight.

With still 4 games to go in the regular season, Giovinco has broken the all time league record for most combined goals and assists in a single season. He is now sitting on 19 goals and 16 assists.

He has to be a unanimous MVP winner.

It's so wrong that my first thought when reading about the Catalan independence movement was to wonder how this might affect future Euro tourneys.

UPDATE: 20 and 15

... which makes him the first player in MLS history to score 20 and assist on 10+ in a singlr season

They must have credited him with the goal Saturday that they initially said he assisted on. It never looked like his team mate touched it so this makes sense.

The Supporter Shield standings in MLS are just crazy with parity.

With only a few games left, the top team in LA is only 6 points ahead of the number 10 team in the standings, and both the number 9 and number 10 teams have a game in hand on LA.

I read somewhere that Barcelona would have to leave La Liga if the independence movement succeeded? Was this just twitter clikcbait or is there some truth in that?

It makes sense... La Liga would remain as the Spanish league. I am not so sure they would stand for a team from the Catalan capital winning the league all the time ;)

It would depend on the whims of FIFA once FIFA recognizes a Catalan FA. Currently FIFA doesn't allow teams in foreign countries to compete in other countries leagues. There are exceptions (Canada and one or two of the teams that compete from Wales in the English leagues spring to mind), but they have to get special approval from both the league and FIFA.

Basically they would get kicked out of La Liga and then have to have La Liga lobby FIFA to let them back in.

Are there any Primera Division clubs other than Espanyol in Catalonia? That would not appear to make for a great national league by itself (population roughly 7 million).

According to the reports I heard (SiriusXM FC) there is no way Catalonia gets independence. And the La Liga president said Barcelona would be kicked out if it did happen.

Barca vs Espanyol would be quite a league. How many ECL spots would they get?

Monaco, right?

I'd be willing to bet that La Liga and Barca will find a way to stay together if the Catalans secede. Barca doesn't want to be in some rinky-dink Catalan FA where they just beat up on Espanyol all the time. La Liga doesn't want to lose one of their two highest-grossing clubs. As tilted as some of the financials are towards the "Big Two", Barcelona helps LFP a lot more than it hurts it.

I read that FC Andorra plays in the Spanish system even though Andorra is a sovereign state, so there is some precedent.
There's precedent, it's just that La Liga has to want to let them back in. No telling in whatever the political environment would be at that point, if they would.

Put it this way, it would be a Spanish/Madrid decision and not Barca's choice.

and the assist to Bradley- in the highlights, I never did actually see the pass leading up to Bradley dribbling down the field and scoring. But I guess that counts as an assist?

The first time I was in Barcelona there was a huge independence movement underway. It was happening; marches, speeches, energy and anger That was 1986.

Jack Grealish chooses England over Ireland and automatically adds $20 million to Aston Villa from Chelsea, Man U or Man City.

There's also a club from New Zealand that plays in Australia and one from Lichtenstein that plays in Switzerland.

Spain was able to block Gibraltar from joining FIFA for like two decades. I can't imagine they'd be any more favorable toward Catalonia.

I think it's cute that the media is playing up the FIFA Ethics panel banning Warner over 2018-22 bribes without making the next logical leap to who paid him and why.
