Coquelin out for at least 2 months. Who could have possibly imagined Arsenal would be short handed at striker and defensive midfield. :wall:
Are there any decent DMs available this window? You know, so I can hope and then be disappointed not to sign?
call me crazy... but what about Michael Bradley on loan? could do a lot worse.

He fits in pretty good when I buy him on FIFA. Let's do it. :hifive:

He got tired of Artetta picking long sleeved shirts?

You'll hear the usual suspects. My understanding is that there's a new DM flavor of the month in the Portuguese league. Probably have a Bender or two brought into the discussion. Always some guy in Ligue 1 to look at.

William
Carvalho? Oh yeah, him again... Let's get him, Wenger!
Flamini could buy out Kroenke, buy Sporting, loan Carvahlo to himself.

fer christsakes kafka, its not even happy hour yet
Have you seen Phil lately? I think he ate Ray Hudson; not being able to digest Ray's hyperbole resulting in the severe bloating. Never mind...regarding today's UCL matches...Roma @ Camp Nou. (sigh)...with Salah, Totti & Gervinho out, the task looks nigh impossible...the counterattack seemed to be the one faint glimmer of hope. Pjanic & Dzeko hopefully can score from set-piece or individual moment(s) of brilliance. Daje.

not sure what you've just said, but I want to go on the record as not liking Schoen. never have.

eta: his commentary. I'm sure he's swell.

I read that story the other day and I still can't wrap my head around the idea that Flamini may have solved the world's energy problems. :loco:

He definitely talks to much but he is leaps and bounds better than listening to Tim Howard or Kasey Keller.

Not really a fair comparison. Phil is a play-by-play guy. Keller and Howard are (infrequent) color guys at least nationally.

On this tangent, I can't believe how much Fox has screwed up Freidel. When I heard him call a Champions League game with Martin Tyler, Freidel was a natural. Relaxed, knowledgeable. Nice rapport with Tyler. When he calls a game with Strong, it's the complete opposite. He seems to be trying to suppress the English accent and to project "excitement" which just makes it sound like he's trying to enunciate through his nose. And Brad just isn't a naturally excitable type. At this stage, Lalas is a clear favorite for the #1 color position, and he's nothing special.

Fire hire the U20 Serbian coach who won the U20 WC.
He, Veljko Paunovic, played for Philly for one season if memory serves. In fact I think he was recently speaking at the Philly High School to the academy players.
Just seems really out of left field, but I don't really follow this stuff. Vieira at least makes some sense from an overall Citeh organizational/talent development perspective.

I guess he had some interest from the Union as well, just seems strange that he'd want to come here over some Euro club or just wait until he would be made coach of Serbia's side.

Why?

From everything I have read he loved it here in the US and he likely will make as much or more here than he would in any non top 5 Euro league.

This could be a good stepping stone for him as well at his young age for a coach, even though dealing with the Chicago owner may not be the easiest thing in the world.

not to mention Christo.

MLS tidbits

* Giovinco won the newcomer of the year award

* Jesse Marsch won the coach of the year award

* Rapids Director of Soccer, Claudio Lopez has confirmed that the Rapids are negotiating with Carlos Vela

* And the most interesting news today comes from KC and Vermes

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mls/sporting-kc/article46041105.html

Almost on cue, his phone buzzes on the wooden desk. He recognizes the number as belonging to an international agent. They have been calling a lot lately.

Two English Premier League teams used agents last week to gauge Vermes’ willingness to depart Kansas City. A European country’s men’s national team has expressed interest in Vermes taking over its coaching duties and replicating his player development model on an international level.

“When anybody is interested in you, you would be lying if you said it wasn’t intriguing,” he says. “At this moment, my focus is on Sporting Kansas City.”

The guy just referred to Chicago as "a hurt lion ready to unleash all its power." I like him already.

LOL

Lars Bender, William Carvalho & Nampalys Mendy are all on Arsenal's shortlist to replace the injured Francis Coquelin. (Source: Daily Mail)
:lmao: We really should set up a game of Wenger transfer target bingo for January.

Good news for Roma is that they're level with Bayer for 2nd, and Roma has BATE and BL has Barcelona in the last game, although Barca's now won the group. And Roma owns the tiebreaker, so if they beat BATE they're through.

Most entertaining Barca side ever. A better watch than peak tiki taka.

They can now bypass the midfield and hit Neymar on the right channel and have those three initiating against a defense that hasn't had a chance to set its lines. "If do right, no can defend."

At least we are alive for the last matchday.

Win at Olympiacos and Arsenal are on to the round of 16.

ETA: Have to win by 2 goals, or win and score 4+ goals.

Joel Campbell settling into the Bellerin/Coquelin "guy who Arsene accidentally figures out is good due to injuries" role.
Oooof, I disagree with that. I think he's looked bad. Terrible miss on Saturday, generally loses the ball on every dribble attempt, and seems to be in the wrong position often. Very nice pass today for the third goal, but I think he's generally been disappointing in his chance the last month or so.

First year of Pep is the closest compare, but this side can play better D

I still miss Xavi pulling the strings... but yeah- damn... this team is incredible.

Willian with his fourth free kick goal in the Champions League this year.

Rest of the players in the tourney- 1 goal.
