Frasier Forster out for maybe a year with a torn patellar tendon. You know, it was just about a year ago that Jay Rodriguez went down with nobody else within five yards of him.

How about that backup keeper at Chelski, the one with the weird headgear? He looking for work?
If they have to rely on Davis, they could start sliding down the table fast.

read he was getting 7 million a year.

NYCFC must have known this was coming because Kreis gave this interview yesterday.

“When you think about a player like Xavi Hernandez, for me one of the best players in the world ever, a big, big fan of his, you say to yourself on one side there’s no doubt a player like that would be great at New York City,” Kreis said at a press conference on Wednesday.“But when you look at it from another point of view and you say you only get three [Designated Players] and we’ve already got another one that plays in the midfield and you’ve got a third one in David Villa whose all relative age are getting up there, you start to think maybe not.”

NYCFC already has two Designated Players in 36-year-old midfielder Frank Lampard, who will join the club in the summer after Manchester City’s season is over, and 33-year-old Spanish forward David Villa, who is close friends with Xavi.

The debate that rages on in message boards is a similar one Kreis said he wages about the possibility of adding Xavi to his roster.

“I would say I’m really split, on the fence,” Kreis said. “I’m a huge fan of Xavi Hernandez, I think he would be a huge player in this league, no doubt about it, huge for New York City, huge for our club, but positionally I don’t know it makes the best sense and the most sense, but I’m open for anything.”

I really want to see a new MLS team name themselves something Real Minnesota City FC United. Can that please happen in my lifetime?

I think this is more than just the normal useless friendly break. I believe there are a bunch of Euro Qualifiers going on.
I think they all play today through Sunday. I will miss having PL to watch this weekend but Wales-Israel is also pretty interesting. Has everybody been reading the "Bale to one of the Manchester clubs" rumors?
United will make a monstrous bid this summer. I think it's pretty much guaranteed. They could easily leverage the star power revenue to compensate.

Wales has not been on the big stage in so long.

The only time they qualified for the Euros was 1976. The only time they qualified for the WC was 1958.

This is going to be their best chance with the expanded field.

They have the talent to sneak in. Obviously Ramsey, Bale, and Allen are the biggest names, but they also have a good defensive core with Ashley Williams, Gabiddon, Dummett, Davies, Chester, etc. They lack a good striker, which obviously hurts though.

This would work best if they pronounce it Real and not Rey-al.

This is a very fun wiki. It breaks down in a ton of different categories how teams are named. We could get a lot of ideas (SC, Sporting, Racing, Olimpia, etc) to add to this name :)

Someone came up with a bunch of fictitious US soccer club names a few years ago. I remember that my two favorites were Locomotiv Chanttanooga and Boca Seniors.

Love those. A few others I recall - Partizan Belle Glade, Crystal Palace of Auburn Hills, Newell's Old Boise.

Neymar turned 23 last month. Today he scored his 43rd international goal for Brazil.

If he remains healthy he is going to finish very very high on the all time list.

As a comparison to some contemporaries:

Ronaldo has 52 at 30

Messi has 45 at 27

Zlatan has 53 at 33

Rooney has 47 at 29

If the MLS keeps ignoring these international breaks, I demand they at least give us some soccer to watch. 8 games today and none on tv. :kicksrock:

The new TV deal keeps national tv games on Friday nights (Unimas) and then a double header on Sunday(ESPN2 and FS1). All Saturday games are exclusive to local TV.

Next year the local games will be covered on ESPN3. This is the last year of MLS Live (the out of market package).

Another home Revs game, another snow game. I am starting to think the only color ball is yellow :)

Froze my feet off :(
:hifive: 2nd game in a row my whole family was fully decked out in snow gear
My daughter just laughed at me when she saw my gear. "I thought scarves were only decoration?" was her latest mock :)

Not many people in the stadium today, which is kind of obvious I guess. Where do you sit? I was in the back of the Fort doing calisthenics to stay warm.

I was hoping the Galaxy-Game would be on the SoCal Fox channel. They tend to put all LA type games on there. Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Sec 107 Row - so a little to the right of the Revs bench. I went to a bunch last year and fell in love with it so I got season tix this yearPeople look at me funny for having Revs season tix but I tell them it's more fun than the Pats, less time commitment, more family friendsly, and around $100/ticket cheaper for a much better seat

That is cool. I have been going since 1996. This was one of the colder games I can ever remember (although getting older makes my cold resistance decrease every year too :( )
