Not cynical from Italy and nothing  like a catenaccio my dago friend. This is a very open game imo.
Oh no, that was very cynical, & very catenaccio-centric.  I, for one, love the defensive tactical game of Italy...its actually complex, especially with 3 at the back...as the DMs & wingers have to shift & interchange frequently, releasing one runner to support the top 2...but Eder starting was a catastrophe, & very negative.   When Italy won 2006 WC, I was disappointed no one gave them credit for playing the most dominant defensive tournament I've ever seen.  They allowed an own goal against USA, & a penalty against Zidane in the final.  That's it.  Just rambling on now; let me enjoy this victory!

SURPRISE!  (thought the blond hair might have shaken the scent...)
haha yeah.

I cant believe with the talent, speed and skill on the Belgium team, that someone (anyone) thinks putting Fellani and his lack of vision, skill, pace, passing in the 10 spot would be a good thing.  How he started over Dembele?

To me, the terms cynical and catenaccio imply an unbalanced formation, the latter using a libero, with very little going forward. Italy today was strong defensively, but played an open game and earned the scoreline.

My bad;  to clarify...I absolutely love "catenaccio"... Italy owns it, & it's their imprint/tradition...but by cynical, I mean the lack of attacking intent, or a true Italian "fantatista/trequartista"... Mea Culpa; Conte's  plan was genius, (if not his selections)...just like I told you & Native...

They definitely earned the scoreline, COUNTERATTACK!  Apologies, I think i have misinterpreted your post.

That was mostly tongue in cheek, but the EPL also does pretty well with only 38 games.

My only point was that if the ratings/demand is high enough the $$ will follow.
Unfortunately, it seems MLS is taking the tack of building a few brands and that is not conducive to generating TV viewers outside of NY & LA.

eta: I acknowledge you're significantly smarter than I am, just having a wee bit of fun, gb  .

Thanks, Sebowski...I try not to get into politics/race...but yesterday + tonight reminded me just how much I appreciate the sacrifices my  Italian grandparents had to make;( & I'm an agnostic, I think... ...), & while people might belittle our traditions, it's who I am.  Lest I forget.  I am proud of my heritage, & I think you guys know I'm not a xenophobe...except when it comes to Christo.  My father was a strong man, & always taught his sons that his sister's  & brothers were always judged by their dark dago skin color (damn southern WOPs= WithOutPapers), & it was a lesson well learned.  That's why I love soccer...THERE IS NO RACISM! ... #### DONALD...seewhatididthere
Except in Italy.

I thought you were a defense lawyer... not a prosecutor... Oh, wait, the English can't defend.. (said the ten yr old)...

...Mea Culpa...please don't get technical.... :wall:

I'll save my ire for Everton, I recognize reality and still like There's Only One Ronald Koeman. I still like Poch, too. I hope Saints hire another guy that all the underachievers will want to poach.

Now, having said that, a Koeman tweet saying how excited he was to be at Everton just showed up in my feed. I may not know all the technical nuances of Twitter but I know where the "unfollow" button is.

Understood...but he was quoted a couple months ago, saying that lack of loyalty/chasing $$$ was detrimental to the game (paraphrasing here)...

Hey GB, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time, between tonight & the FullKitWanker Forum.  I'm obviously not a racist, I'm married to a Puerto Rican, & have a lot of Mexican friends ( I have a construction business, & they're all my equals, seriously, I'm Godfather to two of their children.)  The first defense of a racist is ....,"but I have friends that are...."so when i kid with you, please don't take it personal...I'm a dago/***/mick.....you & Gator have entertained me all night.   What a loser I am, but I'm not fighting on the streets, so thanks.  I'm about to get #####slapped by a PuertoRican, but I can live with that

:lmao:  I didn't remember this!

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed provisional terms on his move to Manchester United. The Sweden striker will finally complete his transfer to Old Trafford after Euro 2016, sources close to the deal have told ESPN FC.
