I think this is good for Pulisic.  He's kind of growing into the main man for Dortmund.  He's likely to start every meaningful game of the year now, whereas last year he came off the bench a lot.

I expect him to have a huge season.

Oh, I get it - because Spurs always play in Europa.  Holy #### that is a funny one.  Good job!

%^&*@!
I wasn't here for the CL draw fun yesterday.  I know it's a tough draw but I think that might be good for Tottenham.  I'll be excited to see that roster get a chance against the best team in the world, and I personally think Tott are better than Dortmund.  Will be fun.

I think I have ETLD (Early Trump-Like Dementia) these days and can remember things for about two minutes so pardon if this has been discussed. But Messi is reportedly four months away from being a free agent and I kinda think that's important.

The Dembele-to-Barca news is significant if true because management appears to be taking a lot of heat in the world press.
One drawbacks of the club ownership system is that there are very overt pro-board or anti-board campaigns and press.  It has been particularly bad at Barcelona recently.

But, yes, this is possible until Messi signs the extension.

Will read in a couple of minutes at lunch. I will have comments, you can be sure.

If by "club ownership system" you mean what I call "supporter owned," then the faults are something I can definitely live with. Democracy is always better, even when the outcomes are worse.

Not to mention Communism, huh?

On noticeable NT absences...Roberto Martinez has once again left Nainggolan off the Belgium squad, even choosing  :fro:  over him.  No rational explanation other than personal vendetta.  Radja has to be considered one the 10 best MFs in Europe.  Roberto...you, sir, are a dickwad.
Lukaku should pay one of the non-EPL players some money to take the Fro out in practice.  Win-win-win.

Sure, it has just been very annoying listening to my fellow fans whining about the board non-stop the last few years.  The interesting thing right now is how the board has much more support from the socis, mainly in Barcelona, than the foreign fans.

Dembele to Barca is now official.

Barcelona have taken a lot of heat over the past month, but this is an incredible signing. Obviously Dembele is a bit raw, but I think he's the best Neymar replacement that's out there.  Great job wrapping that up.
You're blowing smoke up Barca's ### like it will stop them from still trying to sign Coutinho.  It's a fine signing but the money is just nuts right now - I like the Dortmund side of this until Dembele proves himself.  I think he will but it's risky.

Turns out to be a NICE bit of business for Rennes too.  In addition to the initial 15 million pound fee from Dortmund, they had negotiated a 25% sell-on fee.  So they're going to take in just north of 40 million pounds.

Another interesting option for Barca is Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne.  Napoli had previously rejected a 60€ offer, but Insigne has just hired the infamous Mino (The Unscrupulous) Raiola as his agent.  Raiola's first order of business has been to publicly push for this transfer & will undoubtedly put his best interests before that of said player & club.   I, for one, support the subterfuge & controversy that is sure to follow in Napoli.....

My vote is for Seri, unless Coutinho's situation changes. Both seem unlikely at the moment, but there is l00t to spend...

I'd happily take him for 60 over Coutinho for 100+ . Insigne crushed it for my FIFA career mode a few years back. Develops in to one of the best players in the world. Vision, passing,  and long shot.

Well, I would have been happier if the report had broken new ground in its arguments, though I did like the inference that MLS would do better emulating the many successful open leagues in the world's biggest sport than copying a conflicting system that leaves it no different and still probably only the fifth most popular sport in its own country.

It may surprise some to know that I'm not opposed to the MLS system for now. But I remain convinced that its structure is inherently unsustainable. How does MLS grow the sport after it reaches 30 or so franchises and decides not to offer any more new ones? How does it attract the really well-healed ownership who is anxious for improvement while timidly propping up its weakest links? And do we think that we can have one of the globe's biggest and best national leagues while declaring most of the country good for only a second-rate club (and one with no hope of advancement)?

Everyone talks about the insufferable harshness of relegation but not enough of us talk about the other side of the coin.

Don't think they'd go another FW/winger after getting Dembele.  They need an all around CM with elite passing.  They apparently soured on Seri after one game, which seems short sighted.  Of course, they've wanted Veratti, but he seems just as untouchable as Coutinho.

You can never have too many wingers  ...I don't care what they need, my only concern is for what Kafka needs.  See?

It will probably be another 15 years before MLS tops off at 32 clubs.

But I don't foresee in my life time ever worrying about how MLS will be a top league.  The financial gap is simply too big to close and the gap gets bigger every year.  Individual players are being sold for what MLS teams are spending on stadiums.

In terms of new ownership, there will always be room as there will be owners who want to sell and other who want to buy.  There will always be some level of turn over in that area with 32 teams.

I think MLS eventually ends up some where outside of the big 3-4 leagues but a legit top 10, but that could be still 2 decades away or more.

Looks like Silly Season is getting ready for one last push towards insanity:

Liverpool now being linked to a record bid for Lemar, which, of course, suggests that they are prepared to accept Barça's bid for Coutinho.  I would also expect Liverpool to make one more attempt at Van Dijk with their newfound riches.

Chelsea and City prepared to make a run at Alexis Sanchez.

Meanwhile, Spurs sit silently by, hoping a few scraps fall to the floor.

Don't care if they do have to wait a year...everything I can find suggests a comp of Kante.

Land VvD and agree with Barca on Coutinho for 18/19 and we'll call it a day.

Yeah I'd imagine that Coutinho will sign a similar deal with Barca and this will be his final season in Liverpool.

Kante is the name that comes up over and over.  I've only seen him once or twice and he didn't make a huge impression but I like what other people seem to think.

I am sure these two things are related.

LA was shut out for the 4th straight time at home.  First time this has happened in tam history.

He's arguably been one of the top 3 players in the EPL for the past 2 years.  He was integral to both Leicester and then Chelsea.  He covers an immense amount of ground and breaks up so many plays without fouling it's not even funny.
