Games missed (out of 53) by Liverpool players this year.  Brutal.  Looking back things were still pretty good after VvD went out.  It was when Gomez and then Matip got hurt thing went to hell.

And it got lost in the shuffle of the above this year, but Fab + Thiago = 💲

Thiago was outrageous for Liverpool down the stretch.  Hoping he avoids injury next year because he is super fun to watch.

Is Hulu live different from regular Hulu sub? I don't get CBSSPorts Network so might keep it for Europa Final

Yeah gonna start canceling some stuff too.
I am not sure actually.  Hulu Live is the package with live tv.  Its an upgrade on the package that they advertise with Disney+ and ESPN+.

I am interested to see what MLS does here for a suspension.  This is as bad a tackle as you will see and the injured player is expected to miss the entire season due to this.  scroll to see the video

I’ve watched this a dozen times now and the other day.  If he had just concentrated on the ball and finishing his tackle I think he gets the ball first but both guys seem to flinch and the defender gets it all wrong.  I think it was dangerous because he was so clumsy and indecisive and not a dirty play.  I think he has to be suspended some amount though.

If it was up to me with the player missing the season do to injury then he gets suspended for the season. Was always of the opinion in sports for a dirty play/hit that injured a player, said player who did it should be suspended for the length of time the victim player is out.

Big news in Milan already

Mike Maignan recently landed at Linate Airport nearby Milan. The Frenchman should sign a deal with Milan soon. Most likely, it will be a 5-year contract, and the player will earn 3 million euros net for the season.

[Fabrizio Romano]

Tomorrow morning (May 25), Mike Maignan's medical tests should take place at the La Madonnina clinic.

[Gianluca Di Marzio]

- Milan should pay 13 million euros (plus 2 million euros in bonuses) for the player.

Italy Women's No.1 Laura Giuliani has announced her departure from Juventus Women. Her most likely destination is The Women of the Red and Black Milan. Giuliani would make Milan instant favorites for the women's Scudetto if she does sign.

How are you determining what is a dirty play and what is not?

Colombia and Argentina were to be the two hosts for Copa America this summer.

Colombia was removed due to civil unrest in the country and Argentina shut down all soccer related activities last week due to covid not being under control yet.

There is now increasing rumors that they may end up moving the whole tournament to the US this summer.

I hear Charlotte has an empty stadium without attendance restrictions

For those of you with a subscription to the Athletic, hilarious piece today on Zlatan's time with the Galaxy, including lots of stories from former players.

https://theathletic.com/2607878/2021/05/25/zlatan-ibrahimovic-galaxy-mls/

Just one of the many highlights:

“Zlatan spoke up and said something along the lines of: ‘In games like these we need to have more bite, we need to be nastier. Like Kevin,’” says Kitchen. “And he pointed to me, over in my direction. I was like, looking around, to my left, to my right, making sure there wasn’t a Kevin on the team. I said, ‘Are you pointing to me? My name is Perry. It’s right above my locker.’”

“Yes,” replied Ibrahimovic. “You are Kevin.”

“The guy was so confident that he stood there and just tried to tell me I didn’t know my own name, man.”

“He called Perry ‘Kevin’ every day for the next year and a half,” Pontius says, still laughing. “I swear, to this very day, if he saw Perry again he would just say, ‘What’s up, Kevin?’”

I keep watching and trying to figure out how he missed the ball?  The angle from behind the tackler looks like he tried to not hit the guy when he realized he missed the ball.  The other angles look 100x worse.

Right, that’s what I meant by focusing on the ball.  I’m not totally convinced but I think he gets the ball first if he goes straight to the ball but something happened in his head to pull out of the  challenge and went in to the player.  I have no clue who that guy is but my totally uneducated read on it is he screwed up and not that is was dirty.

He's Scottish, if that skews your take...

Back to BMav’s point - I totally get why someone would think the reason he missed the ball is he was intending to take the player out.

B Maverick said:
I can see that but I would hope not.  Unless there is some Keane v Haaland background we don't know about...
I would hope not too and I’m advocating it being sloppy, reckless, clumsy and not dirty - I just can understand how somebody may feel differently.

I don't get why these teams won't back down.  The financial picture must be even more dire that what has been said.

UEFA statement: “Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real, Barça & Juventus for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework”

We know that all of Barca's money is in Messi's accounts now.  RM is rumored to be broke as hell too.

Not sure why Juve won't back down, haven't heard anything about their $.

Cerafin: Hey Heineken, how's it going guys? Hey, by the way, we're not going to have Real Madrid, Juve or Barca in next year's tournament, so yeah.  Hey, are you guys free for some golf before the game on Saturday?

Heineken:  Can you repeat that part about the biggest clubs in the history of your competition again?

Cerafin:  Ah, yeah, so Saturday, golf in Porto ... guys ... hello?

Not an LA Galaxy story but new Milan Keeper Mike Magnine said at 17 he'd train vs Zlatan and Ibra score. He called MM a Sh** keeper. Awhile later MM made a save on a Ibra shot but too afraid to say " and you're a sh** striker." he said Ibra treated him like he was Buffon or some other world class keeper not as some 17 year old just coming up in PSG youth academy

Juventus were gonna be in a mess if they missed Champions League. I heard CCL money plus winning the Scudetto accounts for like almost 30%-35% of their financial gain that they rely on for their transfers and wage bill. Doesn't help that the guys they signed on Bossman doesn't help with their huge wages like Rabiot and Ramsey not doing much to net positive and no one is taking any of their bad players on huge wages. They couldn't even give Costa away if they told a club he could go for free.

However it's rumored both Juve and Barca despite this have offered Gigi Donnarrumma 10M Euros plus Mino Commisson which is absorb right now.

I am still  :lmao:  at that Zlatan piece.   People online say the whole article is full of goodies like that one...
Not sure why anyone would be surprised. It's Zlatan. You know how people have Chuck Norris Jokes and stuff? Soccer is full of them but replace it with Zlatan. One of my favorites Zlatan quotes is the one about him playing in the EPL and saying the league was lucky he wasn't in his prime or he'd destroy many of the records. The best part is he so confidently tells it in third person and people wouldn't doubt him for a minute to do something. He made the comments how he doesn't get political and basically called out Lebron on getting too political but I think a lot of people understood his point. People shouldn't comment or give an opinion on some subjects they know very little or nothing about. He wasn't saying everyone should stay out of politics but basically if you don't know anything on the particular subject matter it's ok not to give a public opinion

Couldn't happen to a better set of clubs. Evil bastards, the lot of em.
All of Calcio knows the refs are behind Juve. A phantom no goal gave Juve their first title that started a dynasty. That goal counts and Milan goes onto to win the Scudetto. Ibra and Silva probably aren't sent to PSG and who knows what happens after that.
