How does this keep happening with the money they spend???

If Chelsea do not score against Brighton on Wednesday, they’ll have to select their goal of the month from training sessions (if they have scored one there).
Because they keep trading talent for potential. I know Mudryk, Jackson, and Madueke have a ton of potential, but there's zero chance they are better footballers right now than Mount, Havertz, and Pulisic. They took a back step in current talent, banking on future potential and spent money to do so.

I was reading that Mudryk has yet to have a goal or an assist....after a 100m transfer...........something like 22 games played.....

According to the internet, since joining Man City Erling Haaland has outscored Chelsea 44 to 43.
And Haaland cost City 40m LESS than what Mudryk cost Chelsea....

As an aside, I still think there was something shady about the Haaland deal to be honest.......the money City spent to get him was WAY too low given the market and how Dortmund normally does business.

I think the goal thing is true, but I believe he's had an assist or two. He should've had one yesterday. Played a gorgeous through ball to Jackson, who was 1v1 on the keeper and kicked it directly at Martinez. Any decent striker and Chelsea would've scored there.

Not exactly true. Sure Dortmund's release clause was 60M Euros, but Man City also allegedly paid 40M to his agent and 40M to his dad to get the deal through(and those are the official numbers... let's not pretend that there wasn't other money handed around under the table).

Plus, he's on the second highest wages in the EPL at around 25M a year. Mudryk is on about 5M a year. All that needs to be computed too, plus the fact that Haaland picked Man City. Any team would've paid the same for him had he agreed to go anywhere else.

I think the transfer was €70.00m with some add-ons that could bring it up to 100m. I don't know what triggers those add-ons but have read they are now unlikely to be met. But regardless, it sure looks like a bad mistake for Chelsea at this time - not the first time and probably not the worst by far but still a bad move in retrospect. He's still pretty new to the league and I think has shown a few things that give some hope. He doesn't seem like a typical high-possession winger, is much more effective when running and carrying the ball like on a counter-attack, and that doesn't seem to be what Poch is doing.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to fit a high possession team. Weird that it was Arsenal and Chelsea bidding for him as he doesn't really seem to slot into either team. I think he'd be very dangerous on a mid-table team. His speed is absolutely elite. Might be the fastest player in the league. Some of his passing looks really good too. The pass from above in the thread was world class... that has to be finished by a good striker. He also had a couple other passes where he used his speed to beat the FB and then put a super dangerous ball right across the 6. Chelsea had no one crashing to find the end of it.

Yesterday was the 2nd Chelsea game I watched this year. They spent $100M+ each on Caciedo and Enzo. Probably the best young DM in the world and the best young deep lying playmaker in the world. Poch had Caceido playing a box to box role and Enzo in an attacking midfield role, while Gallagher, who IS an attacking midfielder, played DM. All I could say is... WHY? Why play all 3 players out of position? Then he has Colwill, who they refused $50M for this summer and who is one of the best young CBs in the game playing left WB. When they brought in Ben Chillwell, one of the best wing backs in the world, into the game they played him at LW.... WTF is going on with Poch and his roster decisions?

Some good, since llanez last scored style, possibilities here.

So, Ipswich Town sacked Paul Cook after a pretty disheartening run of form. They’re not completely out of it but they weren’t improving. That said, I think maybe it was unrealistic to think Ipswich Town would just waltz into the Championship but that seems like what supporters were expecting.

Anyway, Frank Lampard is one of the main names being mentioned to take over
Looks like it will be Kieren McKenna. Do any of the ManU contingent here (or others more knowledgeable than me which is everyone) have any thoughts on this hire?

Ipswich sit 2nd (early, yes) in their Championship promotion year and just took out Wolves in the League Cup. They might want to lock McKenna in the basement so he doesn’t get poached.

I still don't get it. Why in gods name were they mocking their own player?
And one that was key to them winning their first Scudetto since :checks notes: Maradona.

People that know Napoli way better than me seem to think it's some combo of the club front office being just generally weird and stupid, and racism.

This is clearly not going over well, especially when you consider many of the star ****ers are going to vanish as soon as Messi retires

Mike Ryan (Ruiz)

@MichaelRyanRuiz

My 2023 season ticket plan was $6,802.00 for two seats.
The price they quoted to retain my seats is $30,600.00

This makes Inter Miami the most expensive soccer ticket in the world with what I can only assume is the biggest year over year price increase ever.

Upcoming games:

Tomorrow - West Ham United v Sheffield United
7/10 - Morpeth Town v FC United of Manchester
14/10 - Wrexham v Salford City (tentative)
21/10 - Worksop Town v Bradford (Park Avenue) then Sheffield United v Manchester United
28/10 - Undecided at this stage but probably Winsford United v Stockport Georgians
If you have a YouTube channel following along to these teams I have never heard of, I would totally subscribe.

Seeing unverified(?) reports that Messi has been missing time with a substantial hamstring injury and will miss the rest of the season.

STL City now has a 10 point lead in the table in the West. Only LAFC can catch them and they need to win all 4 of their last 4 and STL needs to lose the last 2.

While possible, that means STL City has the #1 seed through the playoffs in their inaugural season.

They're tied with most goals scored in MLS, still have the highest GD, and only Cincy has more points. This has been so much fun to get behind. I don't think anyone wants to play them at home.

Chelsea new shirt sponsor are one of *those* companies ...

What is Infinite Athlete?

Infinite Athlete are an American sports technology company based in San Francisco that “power infinite innovation” that “makes sport better for the fan, the game and the athlete.”

Their goal is to “create a single technological foundation across all major sports, upon which innovative sports technology and media products can be built.”

Chelsea announced their new sponsor over the weekend (Chelsea FC/Infinite Athlete)
Established in 2023 after the merger of Tempus Ex Machina and Biocore, they combine and connect sports data from all sources to create “infinite possibilities”.

Somehow, this business model allowed them to come up with $52m to put their logo on CFC's shirt for one year.

Athletic piece on the Liverpool VAR awesomeness---I mean tragedy. #COYS

These two VAR guys will be banished from the PL for the season, at least. They'll be working in West Gillfordshiretown the rest of the year, no doubt.

The VAR didn't think anyone called offside, so he thought he was confirming it was onside, not offside. Okay, human error, but there is an assistant VAR. What is his job? What was he doing? I haven't seen this question answered. And they both worked a match in Saudi Arabia, and took an 8 hour flight back the day before. I don't think we can stop people from flying the day before a match, that's ridiculous, but can you imagine if Liverpool were playing Man City this past weekend? And the VAR guys who both effed up just flew back from SA? Oy vey.
